Snow White with the Red Hair - OVA English Fandub
Project Overview
Due to there not being an official English dub of the OVA, I think it's time that we as a community come together and work on this project to bring this to light. This will also help with the visually impaired and allow them to enjoy this beautiful OVA with ease. This will be a fanmade product so sadly, we won't be able to make a profit, and therefore, no money to be given to anyone who participates. This project mostly will just be for fun and build a voice acting community.
The script is still in progress at the current moment so some lines for talent will be changed. Currently being written with only the subtitles as a reference, the script will differentiate from the subtitled version, and fit better for English speaking audiences. Once when the script is completed and the entire cast has been selected, it will be sent out as a PDF to every cast member along with a character exclusive version for easier reading.
When auditioning, please use a proper microphone for the best results. the better the sound quality, the more likely you'll get the role.

Once a local herbalist, to a court herbalist for the royal family, Shirayuki specializes in plant life and using said plants for medicinal purposes. Everything that she has done up to this point was from the fruits of her efforts and determination to push through. After realizing and confessing her feelings to Prince Zen, they both made vows of love and both work together to better the kingdom of Clarines.
In this production, Shirayuki and Zen are about to have a break from the mundane work life and Zen takes this opportunity to ask her on a date. She agrees and the two enjoy a peaceful and romantic shopping trip to the City of Joka.
Shirayuki has a very strong-willed and bright personality. She is optimistic, resourceful, determined, yet she can be kind and compassionate. She tends to be fairly independent but will accept the help of others when necessary. Sometimes, her determination to be independent ends up working against her and she has been known to overwork herself to the point of making herself sick. Shirayuki tends to put less consideration into her own needs and ends up putting the people around her at a higher priority, meaning she places anyone precious to her ahead of herself and takes action when the situation requires attention. She's a strong-willed woman that is willing to take any risks for the fact to be proven properly.
With this fierce will, a fierce voice should go with it. It will need to sound intelligent without being condescending. She should also sound compassionate and emotional, but not sassy or "bitchy." If you need a reference, it would be wise to use the official English dub, voiced by Brina Palencia as the base. If you think your voice will sound good without it being an impression, go ahead and audition!
(Hopeful) In that case, then let’s go to The City of Joka. There’s not that many opportunities to stroll around, and I wanna run some errands while we’re there.
(Confidently) Yeah, Kiki said you liked it I tried to make it myself, with a bit of a twist
(Narration) The story that would start with the two linking their hands. They would go forward, with the sound of pages turning. It was like the sound of our steps, which we kept hearing throughout.

Alex Kelley
As the Second Prince of Clarines, Zen serves his kingdom proudly. He is a free spirit, wishing to simply spread his wings from the cage of royalty every now and then. After discovering Shirayuki and saving her from becoming a concubine, Zen had grown feelings for the red-headed beauty. After confessing his love to Shirayuki, they both are now in a relationship and continue their work like always.
His type of personality is easy going and is a person who is easy to get along with. He's responsible for his castle as the second prince of Clarines. He cares for all of his servants and aides who he sees as his friends and shows respect towards them. He especially cares for Shirayuki since the time he has met her, going great lengths to rescue her when she is kidnapped. Though he sneaks out of the castle, delaying his work, he treats his title as a prince seriously and cares deeply for his country. As Shirayuki stated, he always thinks about his position as a prince and what he can do for his country. He is not one to become extremely angry or sad, though when it comes to any of his friends, he becomes incredibly serious. He keeps his composure most of the time but at times when he is with Shirayuki, he can easily become embarrassed and even slightly jealous, mentioning that it was normal for her to work with young guys. He has taken a love for the forest close to his kingdom because it is a place where he can escape to and just be himself, not a prince. Though, while talking to Shirayuki about why he goes to the forest a lot he says, "But it's different now since you're here that's all I need." Overall, he has a very respectable, trustworthy, reliable and friendly personality. He can also be very serious at times.
For this project, Zen asks Shirayuki to head into town with him, and him alone. Essentially asking her out on a date. As the day continues, Zen insists on purchasing Shirayuki a gift to commemorate the occasion, and yet, not asking for anything more than her opinion on how her day was in return.
His voice is almost like a smooth stream of charming whimsicality. Like the Disney Quality Prince that he is, this voice will need to sweep women off their feet, no matter what they say. A reference for the tone would be BlooCerix, known for his works as Kirito in fan projects for Sword Art Online, with a small bit of punctuation on ts. A small detail that could be overlooked if need be. Later on in production, a younger version of Zen in shown in a flashback and will need a higher pitch in performance.
(Disappointed at first, then offering, like a suggestion) Ah, right…Let’s just have it as the two of us.
(concerned, yet calm) Shirayuki, is there anything you want while we’re still in town?
(Overjoyed) Then those words, are the best gift you could give me!

Mitsuhide Rouen

One of Zen's close aides and Kiki's partner, Mitsuhide has served as the second prince's attendant and valiantly saved his life on the rare occasion. He was first introduced to Zen when he was 17 by Zen's lord brother, the crown prince, Izana, He was a previous swordsman from Sereg Templar. He was once described as 'protective' by Kiki, another close aide, towards Zen. Mitsuhide has an outgoing, honest, and loyal personality. He is also flustered easily, especially when he's teased by Zen, Kiki, or Obi.
His voice should sound like an older brother to Zen without the whimsical charm and more of a "gofer". Almost like he's doing everything he can to please everyone.
(Charming) As always, you’re looking lovely today Shirayuki.
(Shocked, then embarrassed as he explains) A date!? Let’s see... It’s when lovers go out someplace to spend time together. Like a stroll around town, or doing something fun.
(Desperate) Don’t say that, you guys! I’ll use my present too! It’s actually really cool that it can shine in the dark! Looks guys, it’s shining!

Kiki Seiran

Kiki one of Zen's close aides and Mitsuhide's partner. She has a quiet and serious personality. She was the second aide that was assigned to Zen, after Mitsuhide.
Kiki has a very stoic personality, which as noted by her father is just like her mother's. She rarely shows any other expression other than a disinterested one, and is an excellent swordsman. Only when she is in the presence of Zen, Mitsuhide or Shirayuki is when she opens up more. She is seen joking with them and smiling. When she first met Zen and Mitsuhide she was very closed off. She kept in her own business and was anti-social. Over the years of being together, she has opened up to them. She's also very stubborn about getting married, as her father has tried multiple times to set her up with someone, although she does admit later on that she plans to propose to Mitsuhide when the time comes.
Her voice should sound bland, yet sassy. Like a voicemail machine with a cold tone to it, almost to the point of being cute.
(Dead Serious) Why'd you stop?
(Uncertain) I’m not sure whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing at this point.
(Sarcastically) Why don’t you put it around your neck like a good boy?

Obi is currently an aide that stands by Prince Zen's side, along with Mitsuhide and Kiki. He was a former assassin that was hired by Lord Haruka to prevent Shirayuki from entering the castle and meeting Zen. Surprised by her wit and bravery, and mildly curious about Zen, he hands himself over to Zen calling him "Master". Soon after, Obi is hired as Zen's attendant before being officially raised as a messenger and placed as Shirayuki's personal guard. He is later promoted to Zen's Immediate Knight whilst still remaining Shirayuki's guard.
Obi is rather an aloof character and whilst he holds Prince Zen Wistaria and Shirayuki dear to him, he holds them at a distance not wanting them to know very much about his past. Obi continues to utilize the skills and knowledge from his previous line of work to find information to protect Zen, Mitsuhide, and Shirayuki, and to pursue those that seek to harm them and threaten his new lease on life.
He should sound like a comedic relief character for this production, as he is mostly a silly tease to others, while also being mischievous.
(Giving Advice) Why don’t you tell her more often? You should say something, like how pretty her hair is. At least, that’s what I think about the whole thing.
(Confidently) Speaking of enjoying the break, Why don’t you go out with Lady Kiki and show her a good time too?
(Dull) Where the heck am I supposed to put this thing?

Serving as the Chief Court Pharmacist of the Wistaria Castle and the royal family of Clarines, Garak acts as the overseer of all the medicinal operations in the castle and serves as a guide for new herbalists, like Shirayuki.
She is rather laid-back, shown when she throws darts at a map just to find a place to collect her medicine. She is rather eccentric and can alternate between humorous and demanding. Despite this, she is extremely talented and cares deeply about Shirayuki and Ryuu.
Her voice should sound like the typical "chill, yet firm mom," With a smooth, yet experienced voice that isn't afraid to reaffirm her power in the medicinal department.
(Wowed) Amazing. And you did this all by yourself Shirayuki?
(Understanding) Oh… It has been a while since your last day off, so go have fun.
(Investigative, like a detective piecing together a mystery) You can tell by her timid smile and light walking. In all my years, my eyes have never failed me. Shirayuki is going out on a date with someone!

Working under Garak, Yatsufusa serves as an assistant to the Chief.
He is a quiet person. He's very dedicated to his job. He talks only when needed.
His voice should sound deep with a hint of a "wimpiness" to it. This role can be left to the actor take this and create their own special twist with it as to make it more interesting, like small raspiness to it or sounding like a growl whenever they speak. Like I suggest, this is a very flexible role.
(Amazed) I’ve never seen the chief's desk so clean before. I’ve only seen it in my dreams, but now it’s a reality!
(Praising) Ah yes! You can read situatuions so well chief!

As the youngest of the court herbalists, Ryu has pretty big shoes to fill, but he works as hard as adults in his field. Specializing in plant poisons, using them to help Zen and others to develop an immunity to them, he works with Shirayuki and others in the medicinal department to ensure everyone's health in the castle.
Ryuu has a mature, calm and apathetic personality. Due to his mental intelligence, others treat him as an adult and not a child. In addition, he doesn't understand or is unable to read people's feelings at times. Because of this seemingly cold personality, many people feel wary of him, and a few rumors about him spread around the kingdom. Ryuu isn't comfortable with everyone treating him like an adult, and it seems like he wasn't able to gain many friends due to this demeanor.
With him being so quiet, his voice has a lower tone compared to other children his age and resembles the pitch of Ciel from the English dub of Black Butler, without that touch of hopelessness and mental scarring.
(To himself) I don’t, think that’s it.
(Informative) These have the most recent information for us to know, and the Chief also wanted me to give on a report on what you were doing here
(Reassuring) Don’t worry, you know that I won’t tell.
