Project Overview
Hello! Hey, I'm adapting the Smokepit Fairytales novel series into an audio play, and I'm looking for voices! There's a lot that goes on in this story from Marines fighting in Iraq to space pirates battling around Saturn and everything in between. There's good guys, bad guys, and a lot of people in the middle. The main cast has already been casted and the roles listed here are for the most part side characters but nonetheless important to the story. Alright, I'll see ya soon!

Nurse is an ER Nurse who is talking to characters about a character's recent suicide attempt. I am looking for a female voice, but age and accent weren't dictated by the story, so those are open to interpretation. Though I am imagine a kind tone for the character

Samuelson is a grizzly old space pirate. He's the longest serving member of the crew, I imagine him as sturdy and wise, and maybe a bit jolly. The script doesn't describe any accent for him, so that's open to interpretation, and the pirates are an international band, so any accent is acceptable as long as it's in english.

In the story, Europa is primarily a Spanish and French colony. One of their ships are in port and gets attacked by pirates. This role is the ship's loudspeaker that's signaling the alarm. The audition lines are the entirety of the script for this role. It should be energetic, with a sense of alarm, and urgency. The voice's gender and age could be anyone, but it does need to be in Spanish.

Susannah is a working girl in a space port. Her character is similar to the weird sisters/ witches in MacBeth. There aren't any sex scenes, though there is vulgar talk about it. Her role primarily is to subliminally suggest to a character that HE should be the pirate captain instead of just the quarter master. I don't have a specific age or accent in mind, just adult woman speaking english.

French Sailor 7 is a sailor on a European ship who get's captured by pirates. He has two lines.

Bridget is a working girl at a tavern in a spaceport. Her role is similar to the weird sisters in Macbeth, she's meant to be a little spooky, but not over the top. Though she IS a lady of the night, she doesn't have any sex scenes or anything, though there is some suggestive language and swearing. I don't have accent requirements, and she can be any age as long as it's adult. The story doesn't say if she's in her 20s or 60s.

Hooker 1 is in bed with a space pirate when the alarm sounds. She only has one line. Age and accent are up to interpretation.

Thyma is a Marine Corps officer in a task force charged with hunting down space Pirates. He should have an American or Canadian accent, and for the most part his demeanor is relaxed, as he's a staff officer.

(Distressed, their sister ship was just destroyed) They got there after the pirates left and are still looking through wreckage, but they're not seeing anything big enough for someone to have survived in, or any escape pods.
Admiral Caria is part of a naval task force tasked with hunting down a fleet of space pirates.

Dossett is a French space-battleship captain. His ship had the plague and they're surrendering to pirates. Dossett is sick and worried about his crew.

No, no, no it's not a particularly painful disease. It starts with fatigue, then swelling and bone pain, then the sick start to bleed, and you just don't wake up one morning.
Pasha is a space pirate of middle eastern descent. He is one of the captains in the space pirate fleet. I don't have set age for him, just somewhere between 30 and 60 years old. And specific regional accent isn't identified in the reading, however he would have been born on a space colony so specific accent would be open to interpretation.

Cost is a bridge officer on a Spanish space battle cruiser. He has only two lines, they're both below.

French sailor 3 is a sailor on a French battleship that's been stricken with plague. They've been captured by pirates and are being interrogated. He only has two lines.

Pereira is a Europan captain. Euoropa (the moon) is primarily a Spanish and French nation in space. Pereira is described as being Spanish, so he would have a Spanish accent, though he would have grown up in space, so his accent doesn't have to be of a certain region. We see his character in a few scenes, once while under attack from pirates, then again giving a brief to the Martian navy about the dangers of the primary pirate antagonists in the story.

(On patrol) Admiral, I do think that either way this operation will be fruitful. However annoying it may be that we have to do this, if our presence alone is a determent, it is a success.
(Being attacked by pirates) Admiral! We HAVE to talk to them, at least to stall for time!
(Talking to Martians about pirate attack, he's still freaked out about the pirates, a bit of PTSD kicks in) Our task force was escorting merchant ships across the belt. The fleet headquarters thought the pirates would be dissuaded from thieving by the presence of naval muscle.
News anchor is giving a report on a pirate attack
The pirates, believed to be led by Honrigold MacCrinian and Edward Allensworth stole six million dollars worth of goods from a Europan outpost on Ganymede last month. The pirates left with over another million in property damage, and while we're still waiting on Europan officials for details on deaths, we're reporting that it's over a hundred casualties.
Avalon is a space colony that's more or less Space-England. They're being blockaded by pirates, and the pirates have hailed them.

Lilian is the wife of Christina O'Con, she's around for one scene where O'Con's getting ready for work and her friend from a previous book is being talked about on TV because he's turned to piracy.

Paris is a Russian interrogator who is questioning a Marine who was captured. They're in the mist of WWIII.

Captain Frame is a medical officer at the naval hospital who is on watch at night when someone who's supposed to be brain dead wakes up. She spends the next day filling in Hank on what's been going on since he'd been in a coma.

Rachelle is a waitress at a cafe in California. I imagine her being a bit flirty.

Kelsey is college girl who serves as a side character to the main group of friends in the story. She's a bit of comic relief. In the story aliens have recently landed on Earth, Hank is dating one of the aliens, and Kelsey badgers him about it.

This bit of the story is an alternate history, and the Colonel is giving his Marines a brief about their upcoming deployment to Iraq to fight Iran.

Good Morning Marines, as you know we're about to depart for Iraq to combat the Islamic Republic of Iran's aggression in the region. When Iran assaulted into Iraq, they pushed over the Tigris river all the way to the Euphrates. Our coalition and the Iraqi military have halted the Iranian advances along the river, but they're feeble and won't last forever.
Sgt Duval is a Marine infantry sergeant on patrol. He find a couple of marines that have been separated from their unit.

Becker is a Marine on deployment in Iraq who finds a romance novel and is reading it aloud to the other Marines to pass the time. I imagine him as being a jolly, easy to laugh kind of guy. The book that he's reading to the other Marines is raunchy, and they all go back and forth making fun of it.

Her dad answers the door and I tell him I'm there to meet Rebecca. He says okay and goes back into the house to get her. Two minutes later he pushes this bitch out in a wheelchair!
(Reading a smut novel to the group, Becker is giving a silly reading of the tale) Claudia walked into the living room and slid the cold noise yogurt into her mouth. A drop of the white goo fell from the spoon and landed on her left nipple.

Cantut is a Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant who's getting his troops ready for deployment.

Sgt Kumer is an infantry Marine deployed to Iraq. They get into a few firefights, then the Marines of the squad get trapped in an ancient Babylonian temple and have to try not to get killed by booby traps.

Navy commander is a medical officer at the naval hospital. He's talking to a Marine who woke up out of a coma who should be brain dead. It's the middle of the night and he doesn't feel like dealing with any paperwork. Think disinterest bureaucrat.

Kennedy is a Persian stripper living in Oceanside California. She's dating a young Marine named Hank. The conflict in the story is that her dad still lives in Iran and Hank's deploying to fight Iran, and Kennedy isn't happy about it. There aren't any sex scenes, but the language is a bit raunchy.
