Signal in Soil - New Indie Animation Project
Project Overview
Title: Signal in Soil
Signal in Soil is a surreal indie animated series set in a decaying bio digital world known as the Neurocradle an overgrown ecosystem made from the emotional remnants of forgotten human minds. Blending elements of dark sci-fi, psychological horror, and poetic worldbuilding, the series follows a group of unstable, semi organic beings as they uncover the truth about their origins and the terrifying entity keeping them from escaping. With a unique art style fusing nature and technology, Signal in Soil explores themes of identity, memory, and the price of artificial life in a world that was never meant to exist.
This is my first project as a solo director, and I’m incredibly excited to finally bring an original story to life. I’ve been building this world with care and vision, and I can’t wait to share the journey as it grows into something unforgettable.

Jade is the heart of the story, a character burdened by perpetual weariness and the weight of forgotten memories. His voice should reflect his internal state—tired, world-weary, and often distant. However, it should also have moments of quiet strength and, by the end, a growing sense of determination.
Tone: Low to medium pitch, often monotone or flat a tad
Pace: Normal pacing
Texture: A slightly raspy or breathy quality, suggesting fatigue

(Weary/Distant): "We're not looking for a soda, TK. We're looking for an exit!"
(Regaining purpose): "The archives. If the Entity is a part of this system, then the solution must be here..."
(Quiet determination): "This isn't just about escape... it's about redemption."
Cyra is the fire and defiance of the group. Her voice is a constant interplay between her human and robotic halves. The voice should be a "static-laced symphony," meaning it should have a subtle, integrated digital distortion or hum that doesn't make her difficult to understand. She is pragmatic and quick-thinking, but also deeply emotional. Her frustration and defiance are the catalysts for action.
Tone: Medium pitch, with a sharp, clear human quality and a subtle electronic overlay.
Pace: Fast and urgent, especially when analyzing data or facing a threat.
Texture: A clear voice with a "glitchy" or static effect layered over it. The effect should be more pronounced when she is emotional, like when she is angry or stressed.

(Frustrated/Sarcastic): "Another dead end, TK." (The static should be noticeable here.)
(Roaring with defiance): "No! We won't be fuel! We won't be forgotten! This isn't a sanctuary; it's a cage!" (This is her big, emotional outburst. The static should be at its most violent.)
(Desperate/Pleading): "Hurry!" "HELP!" (Her voice is strained, with sparks of digital noise.)
Lune is a scavenger, a survivor whose wit and resourcefulness are her greatest assets. Her voice reflects her chaotic, energetic personality, always on the move and rarely at a loss for words.
Voice: Her speech is quick, filled with slang, and often punctuated with short, sharp laughs or exclamations. She uses a lot of contractions and speaks in a casual, almost impulsive manner.
(Frustrated groan) "I swear, if this piece of junk doesn't open, I'm gonna go full-on gremlin on it. There's gotta be something good in here... I can just feel it."
(Slightly out of breath, a quick laugh) "Another one of those things?! You'd think a death-trap like this would have, I dunno, fewer death traps! Right?"
(In a tense situation, whispering to a teammate) "Look, I’m not saying you're wrong, but you’re so wrong.
Character Notes: A calm, imposing Sentinel. His voice is measured and deliberate, with a formal, almost clinical vocabulary. He is a man of few words, and his stern demeanor hides a quiet determination. Voice: His speech is measured and deliberate. He avoids slang and uses a more formal, almost clinical vocabulary. He speaks in short, direct sentences, getting straight to the point without emotional flourish
(Dismissing a threat) "Your attack is inefficient. It will not penetrate the outer casing.
(Observing a scene, calmly) "The resonant frequency is elevated. A biological collapse is imminent. We should move."
TK-0 is the comic relief and the unexpected source of hope. Its voice should be robotic and tinny, but with a personality that shines through its glitching, recycled phrases. The phrases are like a broken record, but their relevance to the situation is often oddly profound. The core of TK-0's character is its simple, unwavering optimism and loyalty.
Tone: High-pitched, metallic, and distinctly robotic. It should sound like an old, rusted machine.
Pace: Jerky and inconsistent. Words may be repeated or delivered with a strange rhythm.
Texture: A tinny, metallic sound. The voice should be monotone, but with the ability to convey simple emotions through inflection (e.g., a "chirp" or a "blurt").
(Absurdly Profound): "Follow the yellow brick road! Follow the yellow brick road!" (The words should sound strangely fitting for the moment.)
(Surprisingly somber): "Don't cry for me, Argentina." (This line should be delivered with a slower, less tinny quality than its other lines, showing genuine emotion.)
(Triumphant): "We are the champions, my friends!"
