Synopsis for The Green Room:
The Green Room takes a mockumentary approach to high school theatre, offering a cynical and satirical alternative to the glossy world of Glee. The series follows Greg Erikson, a recent college grad who reluctantly takes on the role of high school theatre teacher, only to find his idealism clashing with the gritty reality of the job. His new assistant director, Colin, who is Greg's well-meaning but clueless college roommate, only adds to the chaos.
Together, they attempt to manage an unpredictable cast of students: Sarah, a driven perfectionist; Max, whose passion for performing sometimes overwhelms the stage; Jeff, a quiet, introspective actor; Grace, a witty freshman navigating life as an Asian-American adopted by white parents; Aria, a thoughtful freshman whose values as a Latter-day Saint occasionally conflict with theatre roles; and Jake, a self-styled "cool kid" whose confidence borders on cringe-worthy. The Green Room is a sharp, humorous exploration of mentorship, self-discovery, and the raw reality of high school theatre.
Casting Statement:
While The Green Room is set in a high school environment, all actors must be 18 or older. Some of the show's content may border on risqué and NSFW, and we want only adult actors who can fully consent to the material. This allows us to explore themes authentically and responsibly, ensuring all cast members are comfortable with the creative direction."
To ensure that our characters are portrayed with authenticity and respect, we request that roles written with specific cultural or ethnic backgrounds be represented by actors who share those backgrounds. We believe this approach honors the integrity of each character's story and lived experience.
We intentionally left specific dialogue open for these characters, inviting actors to bring their authentic voices and experiences to the role. This creative space allows each actor's unique perspective to shape the character in a genuine way, steering clear of stereotypes or caricatures.
We warmly encourage actors to share insights from their cultural backgrounds. If your specific culture or background isn't currently represented in our story and you'd like to see it included, we invite you to share it. Your input is invaluable, and we're eager to incorporate a broad range of perspectives to create a more inclusive and resonant narrative for all.

I was expecting maybe some tiny part, but the lead? I have no words. I'll have to let my parents know.
Do you know what's so amazing about stars? When stars die, they spread their intestines across the vastness of space and time. All the ingredients necessary for life embark on a journey of sometimes billions of years. Only to arrive at this moment, here and now, and they're manifested in both of us.
After George Floyd died my dad taped my license to the car window so that if I get pulled over I can make sure to have my hands up before the cop comes to the window. And I am religious about registration, what I do know is, they won't hesitate to blame me for anything, so I don't give them an opening, but sometimes even that isn't enough.
