Sci-Fi Short Series (PILOT)
Project Overview
Update!! New Roles have been added to the project!!
I originally was unsure of how much attention the project would get on this website, but because it's getting more interest, three roles I initially withheld are being added. (I was going to voice them on my less than desirable tin-can microphone if nobody auditioned) However, it looks like there may be enough volunteers to help out! :)
My Intentions:
Hey everyone! This is a pilot episode, meaning changes can be made. If you feel the commitment of a main character role may be too much for you, submitting an application and helping out even if it's just for one episode will still get this story afloat. Further contact and willingness to voice act in the next episodes would be wonderful, but is not expected. I just want to get this series up and running. The video animations are not an exact representation of what it will look like. It's simply an idea among many different concepts.
The Storyline:
A mystery packed animated short-series with a plot twist. Alien planet world building and character development is the priority of this story.
Scintilla, an Araloan, (pronounced Arrah-lowan) has spent eighteen summers putting effort into activities that she believes are entirely useless. The never ending consumption of space-travel stories feeds her fruitless desire to explore other planets. Scin belives this to be impossible -- until seemingly out of the blue, the ancient and taboo practice of war becomes prevalent after thousands of years -- and Galactic Protectors visit Aralo to establish peace between the colonies. Floored by true space travelers, Scintilla befriends Cel, one of the protectors. Beliefs cause dynasties to delay action against war, and Scintilla takes things into her own hands. She volunteers to help protectors guide Aralo back to peace. Mysteries are uncovered, and Scintilla's respect for her own culture is deepened.
Scintilla starts to realize something. Every story she has read was based off one thing -- her own home world. Why rush off to space when the planet of Aralo itself is teeming with life and unimaginable discoveries?
How long will it take?:
I'd like to have the first episode out to before 2025. Preferably December. I have a deadline set but it really depends on if I find voice actors, since I'll be animating lip sync/storyboarding to the necessary lines. Almost everything regarding animation, environments, storytelling, (heck, even music) will be done by me. So while I do have a deadline set, I wont be surprised if I somehow go over it.
Context:
While I have experience when it comes to creating animations and short films, I have no current demos of this series to share. The art featured on this page is created by me, and I hope it provides further context as to what I'm capable of creating. Like I mentioned above, this is a pilot episode, so it's really all about getting it up and running. I will provide progress updates/storyboard links. I am very appreciative of anyone who takes a chance on this project and applies for voice acting. This has been a dream of mine for years, and I've finally developed the skillset to go for it. Main character role. Availability for the next couple episodes would be thoroughly appreciated, but not expected! Like I said, my goal is just to get the first episode out. Born and raised in the peaceful marshes of Aralo, Scintilla has always believed her life was destined to be boring. Hungry for greater purpose, she impulsively adopts the mission of uniting Araloan people. She is the protagonist that the audience follows throughout the whole series. I'd love a voice actor who is capable of providing both serious lines and silly ones.

I’m just a stupid crusty-fin massager! (crying voice -- supposed to be slightly comedic. Overly dramatic)
My mom is cool! You idiots wouldn’t know what it’s like to have good parents if it bit you in the tailfin! And as for being coddled.. When I'm an adult I'm gonna leave this stupid marsh and never return!
Cel's habit of immediate action & impulsive decisions balances out Scintilla's patient and precise nature. Looking for a young adult male voice. As I said before, main character roles are not a commitment. I will contact you about further episodes but you are not obligated to continue. He has a tendency to be cocky and occasionally sarcastic, but deep down he's a sweetheart.

Okay. Now I’m invested. Who hurt you, small fry? (kind, attentive)
Oh, that's right.. Your people don't do violence. Anyway, I'm famished. Do you guys have any places to eat? (apologetic, changes subject.)
If you're good at delivering typical bully lines, Jarae might be a great fit!
Three lines, and one of them is just making a typical obnoxious laugh. Jarae will likely be featured in later episodes. He went to school with Scintilla and often tormented her. His little brother is one of Scintilla's students. He is trying to intimidate Scin by insinuating that her teaching is meaningless.

Don’t give her too much credit, she works with her MOMMY. (mocking, humorous)
Scentara is in the same friend group as Jestra and Jarae. Her deceptive darling & charismatic demeanor carries her through life seemingly unscathed. One of the main tormentors of Scintilla, lines should be delivered with a nauseating amount of passive aggression. Feel free to get creative with it. I'd like to expound upon this character in the future and give her a proper backstory and eventual depth, so she's not just The Mean Girl. Pronunciation of Scintilla is "Sin-tilla"

Oh, hi Scintilla!
She’s good at that. Reminds me of when we were schoolmates. She’d put me to sleep talking about her space travel books. I guess Scintilla has that way about her.
(Most obnoxious laugh EVER)
A background character. Part of Scentara and Jarae's friend group. Possibly introduced in later episodes -- but mainly here just to make a mockery of Scintilla.

This is a background character that only has the two lines listed below. They are pretty important as they expand the plot and create tension. Just deliver them with genuine curiosity and unease.

Basically best radio announcer voice you can do. Initially meant to have this role for a female voice actress, but honestly it doesn't matter what gender. Just looking for someone who can do a professional sounding radio broadcaster voice! :)

It is with a heavy heart that we report the emergence of conflict within our peaceful society. A faction from the Tropical Region of Peska has begun to engage in what resembles the ancient practice of war. We urge everyone to remain calm, as the dynasties discuss a peaceful solution.
For the first time in eighty-three years, the Galactic Protectors have returned to our planet. With their support, this conflict is likely to be short-lived. A team of protectors has landed within every major region. Stay tuned for more updates. This is Leo, signing out.
The character picture is female but I can take a male voice as well. I'm willing to adapt the character to whatever audition gets picked. Commander Zerma is our curt and intimidating commander of Protector Team 047 This is a main character, meaning there will likely be an appearance in each episode. (Further continuation as voice of the Commander would be appreciated but not expected!) Hyaline in this series is pronounced (Hia-line)

We will try to end this peacefully. However, physical interference is very possible. (still speaking to a crowd, reassurance, very authoritative and commanding)
I've had enough of his juvenile behavior. I don't care if you have to hurt him, bring Cel to me NOW! (Enraged, commanding)
Scintilla's mother is an overworked, high strung manager of the Hyaline Bathhouse. She loves her daughter, but hounds her due to lagging on certain life decisions. She believes a good life is made through hard work. She knows everyone in the city and loves being nosey. She's really just known as mom as of right now. As the plot thickens we'll learn more about her character. She's respected by the majority of citizens, because she spends more time working in the Bathhouse than outside of it.

It’s your second day on the job. I wouldn’t worry about it. Besides Scintilla, these new generations keep getting more impatient. (reassuring, slight hurried tone since she is multi-tasking. still manages to get her two cents in)
Can you hand me the silver thing? (slightly aggravated tone, still working hard massaging client)
Firstly, patience is the way of our people. Children must learn. Remember your space travel phase? All that talk about rushing to different planets.. UGH, makes me nauseous! Second, do not speak about Oris that way. If it weren’t for him, you would be a filthy bottom-feeder. (putting Scintilla in her place, aggravated and embarrassed over her daughter disrespecting their culture)
She is not yet revealed, but Kaiyana is a sixteen year old girl from the City of Ancients. She is there to provide commentary on the story as it's happening. The story is told in a format that's meant to be Scintilla telling stories to Kaiyana (up until the story catches up with the commentary and happens in the present) Kaiyana is a devoted and caring teenage girl who loves her people and city. There are only two lines in this episode.
Kaiyana's voice and glimpses of her will be featured at the end/beginning of each episode.
