Project Overview
Roe Dubs Presents: Rosalina's Storybook, a fan dub.
From the channel that is currently bringing you Super Paper Mario: The Prophecy Foretold and Celeste: Voices of the Mountain, we bring you a small, but oh-so-special detour fan dub of one of gaming's most treasured backstories.
This is the tale of how Rosalina, the guardian of the stars and pilot of the comet observatory in Super Mario Galaxy, came to be where she is and how she created a family with the Lumas. It's a story of growth, acceptance, family, love, and comfort.

Our storyteller and the lady of the stars herself. She is the adopted mother of the star children known as Lumas. She came to space as a young girl and built the observatory in order to start a new home with the Lumas. This is her story of how that came to be.
Voice should be low to medium. Her tone is rich and dignified, but still a little bit younger, not quite full middle aged. She should never sound too distressed when telling her tale, as this is all behind her. Voice should focus on narration and having an enticing way of telling the story.

[When a large cluster of LUMAS appear.] The sight of all the shouting Lumas only made the girl laugh harder.
[As YOUNG ROSALINA is about to cry out for her late mother.] The girl was shouting now, her face wet with tears.
[One of the LUMAS has just transformed into a comet] With that, Luma, trailing bands of white, soared high into the sky and just as quickly started to plummet back down. KABOOM! KABLAM! The ground shook, and a bright light poured out of the crater that the Luma had created.
The lady of the stars as a young girl, between 10-13 approximately. She is everything you expect from a pre-teen girl: excited, emotional, and playful. Throughout the tale, she matures and learns the importance of change and the cycle of life. She grows from a lost child to a collected mother.
Voice should be medium to medium-high in pitch. She should sound her age, but don’t think you have to be extremely nasal or high-pitched. Young Rosalina is still Rosalina. Find ways to create a younger sound, whilst still keeping a pleasant tone. Her speech pattern should also reflect her age and attitude.

[She sees the flying comet. Very excited and determined.] We HAVE to get to that comet!
[Cheering up the LUMA who misses its mother. Her motherly tenderness starts to show.] Now, now, Luma. The rain clouds won't go away if you keep crying.
[She knows she cannot see her mother again, as she has passed. Trying to find a way to tell the LUMAS. Very sombre.] But I know she's not there! I knew all along that she wasn't out there in the sky! Because...because… She's sleeping under the tree on the hill.
Rosalina’s mysterious mother. She comes to Young Rosalina in a dream, though, in reality, she lies in a grave on the Earth. Her messages to Young Rosalina in the dream are very comforting, ethereal, and loving. Archetypal angelic passed mother figure.
Voice should be low to medium-high. Pitch doesn’t matter as much to me as much as tone. She should sound different enough from the adult Rosalina/Narrator. The important piece is that gentle, angelic, motherly sound.

[To YOUNG ROSALINA in a dream. Very motherly, warming, and gentle.] Don't fret, dearest. I'm not going anywhere. I'm always watching over you, like the sun in the day and the moon in the night.
The adorable creatures who cohabitate and co adopt Young Rosalina. They are infant star-like creatures who eventually cycle through and become celestial bodies throughout the cosmos. As they are at the beginning of their life, they are very playful, cheery, childlike characters.
Voice should be medium to high. Their tone should be playful and cheery and childlike. The lumas have very few somber lines, but they are still there, though in an optimistic sense. Interpretation is encouraged with the Lumas, as multiple will be cast. Use their appearance and this description as a framework for their voice.

[To YOUNG ROSALINA after she has expressed the need for flight through space. Excited to share its skills and life destiny.] I have an idea! I will transform into a comet, a soaring comet that can carry you all on this journey!
