The main characters in the series are the titular “Rookie”, and his mentor and father figure- “Senior”. Both are parasites from a distant planet sent by “The Hive”, and are assigned to destroy the earth and not fail where other parasites have. With Senior being their most seasoned veteran agent yet, he is expected to succeed in the hives final attempt to destroy the earth. But if all else fails, the hive may make its own way to earth and make that planet its new nest to continue to breed new parasites.
Intelligent and well-adjusted member of his towns society, and is going into college now that he has finished high school with flying colors. With his guardian- Senior, pushing him to get into a highly distinguished school, Rookie wants nothing more than to make Senior proud. Rookie can be dumb, reckless and subjected to easy peer pressure from people he trusts at times, but with his moral compass firm despite shaky self-perception and confidence- Rookie is adaptable with a touch of assertive, dominant strength when those he cares for become threatened. Rookie is a Vegetarian, unable to bring himself to eat meat.
(mumbling to himself) Maybe I should add some imperfections… I don’t wanna stand out- (adds fake acne with makeup) Perfect! Every growing boy needs a little imperfection! (leans in to examine his reflection more critically) Hmm... Maaaaaybe I need just a bit more redness… maybe scars? Hm… I wonder if Mr. Senior is up by now?
(raises hand for lecturer at college) When do we get to learn about other sectors and quadrants in the Maurin Galaxy? Or the Rahtix belt? Do we study planets that orbit more than 2 suns, or just ones that orbit one? (Lecturer and class look at Rookie confused) …n-nevermind- (Just say you heard it from your dad Just say you heard it from your dad-) I-I’M JUST HIGH IGNORE ME! Late 40’s, stern and composed- Senior is a calculated veteran of the hive, having destroyed and eradicated life on over 5 planets prior to his arrival on earth. These planets contained stone-age scale life, leading Senior to be affirmed in Hive doctrine of evolutionary superiority and intellect. Senior has a pragmatic and analytical approach to almost everything he does, and tries to rationalize everything he sees to fit his frame of perception. Senior is a prideful and intelligent individual who takes joy in strategy games like chess, battle tactics in war, spending time with his son, Rookie, and eating food from all different human cultures.
Senior despite his mission, finds time to connect with Rookie if he wants to spend time with him somewhere outside the city. Senior particularly finds a fascination in ancient mythology and religious stories about creatures that sound familiar to him, and seeks to uncover if those myths were from the minds of brilliant, creative humans/ spiritual beliefs, or if they are something more… familiar to Senior from beyond the planet. Senior works as a Geneticist at a prestigious lab called “DNA” that focuses on genetically enhancing humans.
(Cooks Rookie breakfast) A perfect meal for a perfect boy. (Rookie says he wanted to cook) (chuckles) Too slow, Rookie. Now come eat. I made it to your liking. (Senior spots Rookies makeup while eating) … You do know boys your age can have clear skin, right? (Rookie doth protest too much) Mhm… and it’s certainly not you refusing to throw out your little makeup kit upstairs? You’ve had that thing since you started elementary education- (Flustered protesting Rookie) (Chuckles) Fine, you can keep your makeup. I won’t judge my ‘little apples’ interests.
(Senior and Rookie Breakfast spreading toast.) - (Rookie says vegemite is gross) Mhm. And your ‘blended nut paste’ is much better? (Rookie defends peanut butter so Senior confident reads off the label of Vegemite) (chuckles) significantly less sugar, rich in B vitamins and contains essential nutrients like folate, niacin, and riboflavin- (Rookie mentions the salt content) ...Let's agree-to-agree that I'm right. Now- eat. (Rookie leaves for college) Hm… now what to do with my day off… (Later Enki arrives at the door) (tense, faux politeness) Ah, Enki. Charismatic and kind - Lilu is a male prodigy who came to town with his girlfriend, Lesya, only as of recent. The two are a deeply in-love couple who publicly show plenty of affection. As Lesya and Lilu rope Rookie into their life and antics, he's soon tangled in their strange life and relationship. Lilu in his past was quite popular with the ladies... and men. Being able to seduce anyone he desired, Lilu has never failed to enrapture a target he had in mind. Lesya is his most recent relationship in the past few years and he deeply cherishes her. But with his track record as a heartbreaker and serial-Casanova? He'll need to look inwards to ask himself if his own personal desires and needs and hunger will come before all else... or is Lesya someone worth him finally changing?

Finding a weapon from an ancient deceased alien while spending time with her new friend Rookie with Lilu, Lesya uncovers great secrets within the blades reflection- Morphing into an eventual ally and protector of earth with her peers, Lesya has a deep passion and fiery heart for the things she loves.

Witty and mischievous - Enki is a long-time friend of Rookie’s who has been around and grown up with him since Rookie was a child. Enki has a penchant for causing trouble and being a trickster, and encourages Rookie to come on troublesome escapades with him against Senior’s blessing most of the time. Enki is deeply loyal to Rookie and both of them have been best friends since they were young. No matter the trouble Enki got himself into, somehow he's always turned out okay- and the trouble he prefers can sometimes risk Rookie's identity being reveled, and the mission being compromised. Enki has no idea Rookie is an alien, but even if he did, he'd likely just think it was cool.
Enki has a deep love for a in-universe game called “MonsterPals” on the “GameBrick” Console. With his behavior deeply rooted in either spending time with Rookie, being intentionally chaotic/contrarian, or learning how to not be an intolerable nuisance via Senior or other adult mentors- Having never had a family of his own, Senior and Rookie often see Enki around town or breaking and entering into peoples houses to find new MonsterPals on his Gamebrick.
Rookie sometimes wishes he could find Enki a home or family, but Enki has yet to care about any of the people who tried adopting him as he grew up. Now he's an adult-? All bets are off. Enki thrives on and craves the unknown, yet as he grows with Rookie and his new friends- he comes to appreciate stability and learning how to be part of a greater community with friends he can call family.
(Enki breaks into Rookies house through the bedroom window) Sup, Rook! Sooooo whatcha up to? (Rookie shrieking for Enki to get out of his house) Just a sec. I got a tip that a brand new “silver” Beetlemon is spawning in houses now if we find and scan Colorado Potato Beetles. (Rookie explains they live in Wisconsin) Soooooo…. No Silver BettlePal? (Senior bursts in) Sup, Doc! Seen any Colorado Potato Beetles around lately? (Senior lies he saw them in the garbage 2 blocks down) Oh shit, really? OK ROOK, GOTTA BOUNCE! I'LL COME FIND YA TOMORROW!!
(Accusatory towards Senior) You lied about the Colorado Potato Beetles- (Senior tensely invites Enki inside) Booooring. Also- I don’t have ‘tea’ with liars and frauds. You’re a cheap, dirty liar, Senior Cabrera. (Senior presses the offer) Ugh, fine. You better have a good excuse for why I lost out on scanning a rare invasive beetle species. (Starts eating the leftover toast) What? The toast not for eating or something? (Senior reminisces about when Enki was smaller with Rookie) Ugh. Don’t remind me I'm an “adult” now. (chuckles) gross.

Nurturing, maternal - Miss Hopi is a lead scientist at “DNA INC.” where Senior works at, Senior having learnt much from her when he first arrived on earth and needed to find a mentor to best learn his occupation of choice. Being Senior’s mentor, he has a great degree of respect for her, and sometimes the two can be seen enjoying activities with one another outside of work such as coffee, tea, or going to events together.
Miss Hopi is often called the “Grandmother of Spiders” as she tends to collect them as pets inside her home, treating them like a human might do with a cat or dog pet. While most humans find this a bit much, Senior has a personal enjoyment with the little 8-legged creatures. A lead scientist and accomplished well-travelled teacher, Miss Hopi in her youth educated many different cultures and aided in the support and protection of the hopi tribes back in her home land many years ago.
However, Miss Hopi can have a particular sour taste towards those who seek to prey on others, and takes great joy in seeing those who feast, be eventually feasted upon by karma and justice- no matter how warped her sense of it is. A mother to many and a killer cook of apple-cinnamon cookies, if you mess with her babies, she'll show her fangs.
(Greeting Senior and Apollo to work) Good morning, Apollo. Good morning, Senior. … No muffins today, Apollo? (Apollo coudn't afford it) (Devastated sigh) … The one time I want someone to misuse company funds… (Working with Senior later) How did the samples go? (is handed the papers) Infection, rejection of the stabilization fluid, signs of malformations and compromised immune systems … Tsk. What did we expect, taking donor DNA from hospitalized people? Hereditary defects were a risk in these tests…
Senior, hun... you really need to learn to smile more. You want to be "approachable"? No one likes a grouch. I've met many men in life, and you're far from a boring bitter boy- so quit acting like one. You should stand tall and confident, stop looking at people like they're being sized up as prey. The world is not out to get you... so conquer it with your charisma. (chuckles) Sometimes I swear- you act like you're some sort of alien in how confused you act sometimes. (hums) It's what I find endearing about you if I'm being honest.

Loyal and creative - Apollo is a human who works alongside Senior as his closest co-worker and assistant in the labs. Carrying himself with a positive attitude and optimistic approach to their studies, Apollo wants to help break the human genome and help mankind unlock the secrets to removing all diseases and sicknesses from future human generations through genetic editing. Admiring his ingenuity and passion, Senior has since taken a liking to Apollo and taken the young lad under his wing as his protégé.
Senior and Apollo often can be seen studying into what makes humans tick, dissecting bodies and finding new secrets about human DNA that Senior finds progressively more and more fascinating. As Apollo looks up to Senior as a paternal figure and a boss he aspires to at DNA Inc, Apollo finds himself willing to go to morally questionable lengths to please Senior- thinking Senior is a good man and a father figure to him, ultimately wanting nothing more than to please his mentor and leader in the lab. Apollo is determined to heal the world of genetic diseases and sickness, and sees working under Senior's close mentorship as his chance to make the world a better place.
But ultimately, his kind heart and hope for the world is both his greatest strength, and his greatest weakness. People will use and take advantage of Apollo the second he lets them, and theres a part of Senior (and Miss Hopi) that seeks to both preserve his optimism, while also helping him grow into a stronger person under their mentorship.
(Rushes into the elevator to join Senior) (Out of Breath) (huff) Phew! Made it… sir! (huff) Here's your triple black espresso with caramel creamer. I even had them add a little real cream into it since I know you like it the perfect balance of bitter and sweet. Oh! I put out the samples and notes for you first thing when you called! Then I ran out to get you this- (huff) (hands Senior the coffee, he questions where Apollo's coffee is) …I only had enough to buy you a coffee. That was kinda my only priority- (Senior Mentions the company credit card) S-sorry, sir. I just never feel right using company funds improperly. (starting work) I’ll go check on samples from areas 5 and 3. Something seemed a little off this morning during inspections, so I'm just going to make sure everything is stable.
(Returns with results from their recent batches) How did mold get into the disinfection zone… This could compromise our recent batch… (Senior asks for another batch) Huh-? O-Oh! Right- i’ll get right on it! There's something I need to investigate while I'm at it though, is that alright, Sir? I’ll just need the paperwork you have there from our priors. (Returns later with full report) I’m back, I double checked the paperwork for this batch, they’re stable, and they’ve been recently injected with their stabilizer so they’re taking to the solution better than our last set. The temperature of our zygotes and eggs has been fluctuating inconsistently across all our samples, so these ones still being strong is a good sign. Good resistance to heat and cold…

Yahoul is one of two primary antagonists in the pilot episode, and serves as a yin and yang with his partner, Griffin. Yahoul hails from a warrior planet where combat and battle were their way of life. Honing his skills of battle and prowess in the hunt, Yahoul's planet was then later devoured by The Hive. The lone survivor of his species, Yahoul fled. Finding the planet Earth, Yahoul sought refuge amongst ancient humans.
Settling in ancient Egypt, Yahoul's power to shapeshift his form to match native creatures (and use a variety of abilities depending on the form he took),Yahoul became known as the ancient Egyptian gods humans would come to worship, and shaped early humans into warriors and conquerors.
In modern day, none truly worship his teachings anymore, and he has fallen into the silent protector of Earth from invading malicious aliens (Like Rookie and Senior), and will let nothing stand in between him and his goals, even if sacrifices must be made for the greater good of the planet.
We have finally located the nest. (ordered to find the parasites) ...Yes, with pleasure, old friend. (Later hunts down Rookie and contacts his ally) I have found the hatchling parasite. (ordered to kill it once alone) ...Merciful death? ("only if it doesn't struggle") Ah… but they always do. They all run from death.
(Corners Rookie and his friends) … Parasite. You are to surrender. Come peacefully. (Rookie flees with Lilu and Lesya) It knows fear… Good. (Ally shows up) You were assigned to kill the other. (suggested tactical retreat) Hmph... And what of the witnesses? (ordered to kill them) ... Very well. (Rookie threatens him) ...is that a threat, little one?

Eaquil is a tactical and pragmatic soldier from an ancient planet of chimeras and Griffins in the Maurin Galaxy. Many of his kind fleeing once they foresaw the Hives arrival with psychic visions, and abandoned their home planet in search of refuge. Discovering Earth, Eaquil and his people landed on the planet and began to mutate their genetics to match the local animal genus to best blend in and acquire their natural biological weapons for planetary assimilation.
Early humans saw them as protectors and symbols of wealth due to their golden wings and regal forms, being posed as mythical beings who used their psychic energy for the spiritual protection of man. Eaquil, the last of his kind now, found his kin and brothers hunted to extinction by parasites who attempted to attack earth, and while all attempts failed- the Griffins paid the price in their protecting of Earth.
Now teamed up with Yahoul and intent on destroying ALL parasites to keep his planet safe, Eaquil intends to keep Earth as a safe-haven and refuge for other aliens, and if humans have to die to achieve that goal?
So be it.
(talking to his ally) Find the parasites. … cut through whoever you must to find them. (later when his ally says they found the young parasite) As have I with the other. Strike once it is alone. The fewer witnesses, the better. (Asks about mercy killing) ... Only if it doesn’t struggle.
(Eaquil blocks Rookie off with Yahoul) We must flee and recoup. The veteran parasite was more perceptive than anticipated. It discovered me without my noticing. Kill the juvenile and we shall deal with the older one with reinforcements. (asked if they kill the wittnesses) ...Let’s make it quick. (Rookie begs) We care not for bargains, child. (Fled the battle) ... I must strategize a new plan... they're stronger than the others... (growls) damnit.

Athena is a warrior from the Maurin Galaxy, and was a close neighboring species to the Griffins and Chimeras. Her people having once warded off and won a battle against the hive, leaving it wounded and needing time to recoup its strength, Athena soon made her way to planet Earth in an effort to prepare it for the hives inevitable invasion, her having foreseen their future encounter.
With determination to forge earth's mightiest heroes and legends, Athena has helped many of man rise to legendary status and slay monsters (other aliens who sought refuge on earth) to declare the planet theirs to keep, warding off any aliens from assuming they can simply usurp the native humans. Athena intends to keep the balance of peace and power on earth by forging the finest swords of human spirit, and creating warriors not just of body, but also of mind.
Athena once knew Yahoul and the two were once quite close before Yahoul eventually met his future comrade in battle- The Griffin, and with Athena and her people considering the Griffins to be cowardly and shameful in their status as warriors, she departed his company, foreseeing his death if he stayed the path the Griffin led.
The human species are a young and bright light in the milky way... I sense greatness in their souls. Do you feel it too, Yahoul? They once worshipped you as a god... no, as many gods. You led them to power and strength. You guided them to build empires. And yet now? They do not need you anymore... so you hide. And the same with me, we are the same, you and I. Once I ruled in a pantheon of other entities from beyond the stars... we forged family and created stories and myth to portay us as family. A series of gods to learn from. To aspire to be better than... (sighs) but as they each were slain, now? Only I remain... (hums in thought) I'm glad I didn't kill you.
(Prophetic) The path the wings of wrath will lead... the heart and soul shall cut and bleed. Screams of soldiers cry from ash, and worlds beyond the lands will clash... (softly) Yahoul, leave that creature to die. It is not dishonorable to let this... Griffin succumb. If you go to its aid... that is a path I cannot- no- will not follow you towards. (Yahoul refuses to leave it there to die) ...ah. (hurt, pained) ... then this is my goodbye.

In the series, Rookie and Senior both encounter the same person during their separate lives outside of the house, that being Rookie’s new professor in College- Professor Galen. Initially seeming to not like Rookie in his class for unknown reasons, the two quickly seem to bond as Prof. Galen starts to steadily adopt a fatherly role for Rookie when Senior is preoccupied with his work. As Rookie is personally mentored by the professor, it is quickly turned sinister when it's revealed that he knows what Rookie and Senior are, and intends to play the long game to learn Rookie’s weaknesses and use them against both of them.
Senior suspects Professor Galen is a threat, and may be an intellectual opponent he will need to beat through silent war and subtleties, so neither will show they suspect one another until action is needed.
Once he gets a second job at Seniors work, things only get more interesting from there, as both clearly see the other as their objective and intended target to destroy, no matter who must be used in the process to achieve that.
Lilu- where is your end of semester report? I gave you 3 extensions and still you have yet to produce me a- (Lilu hands over his report) ...Ah. Now thats much better. (Reads it over) ... wait a minute. Give me a second. (goes over to his desk) Hmm. Lilu, why does your report look exactly like Lucas Wrights report from 5 years ago? (Lilu asks why he has records from that far back-) Lilu, this is why. (sighs) Lilu, you and Lesya are so much smarter than this... I can't keep excusing this behaviour. Take this report back and re-do it. I expect both of you in my lecture hall in an hour with pens and paper. I think its time you finally put your heads down... (Lilu relents) Good. Now go, I have to shred this before the dean finds out you plagiarized.
Rookie? ... are you certain thats your name? it just seems a bit of an... odd choice to call your child, don't you think? (Rookie stammers an excuse) ...hm. I can't say your father seems to be the responsible type. (sarcastic chuckle) If I didn't know any better, I'd say he was a bit hostile last time we spoke at the college entrance. (Rookie explains how nice Senior is) (chuckles) Yes, yes... I suppose he's quite charming. ... but lets redirect the focus back to you Adri- (cough) Rookie. ...
