Restricted Reality : Video Game Dubbing

Project Overview

Hello everyone,

I'm currently the project lead for the voice-over production of the game Restricted Reality, which is currently in development. Right now, we’re putting together a pool of voice actors that we’ll use for casting later on. We're looking for all kinds of voices, so feel free to apply no matter your type or experience level.

The game follows the main character, who wakes up in a hospital with no memory of who they are or how they got there. They begin searching for clues to figure out what happened and where they are. The hospital staff act strangely and don’t answer any questions. Instead, they keep forcing the main character to take pills, almost as if they’re used to this kind of behavior.

As the main character explores the hospital and talks to other patients, it becomes clear that this isn’t a regular hospital but a psychiatric institution. Someone eventually suggests they stop taking the pills, and from that moment on, things start to change. It’s like the medication had been dulling their senses. Suddenly, the world shifts. Patients go missing, the staff appear threatening, and bloody walls begin to show up. Doors appear in places where there were none before, and the main character finds themselves trapped in a disturbing reality.

With the help of other patients, the truth slowly comes to light. The hospital is actually a front for illegal experiments designed to alter human consciousness. No one seems to be watching or stopping what’s going on, and that’s how the staff keep getting away with it. The game is meant to offer a clear critique of systemic failure in mental health care.

The main character and the others try to escape. Will they succeed? Who will be left behind? And how will it all end?

During gameplay, the player sees a medication meter in the inventory that shows how strongly the character is under the influence. Depending on the level, the environment changes. Some areas are only accessible when medicated, while others require a clear mind. Characters behave differently depending on your state, and even their appearance may change. Players have to decide carefully when to take pills and when to avoid them in order to solve puzzles and progress.

The game is inspired by titles like Fran Bow, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout, Danganronpa, The Backrooms, and also includes some Slice of Life elements.

At the end of the game, the main character finds their medical file. It explains why they were admitted and includes notes that reflect how the player behaved throughout the story. Every decision matters and directly shapes the story and the ending, leading to multiple possible outcomes.

Exclaimer:
Please only apply if you have a USB microphone with very good acoustics or an XLR microphone. If you're based in Germany, you also have the option to record in our studio. For this first round, we're mainly looking for native English speakers.

Latest Updates

  • Callbacks

    Hey everyone!
Just a quick update: due to the high number of auditions we've already received, we're able to start callbacks and role-specific auditions a bit earlier than expected!

That said, we’re still short on female voice auditions, so there will be a slight delay until we fill those gaps. I’ll keep you all updated as things progress.

I'll also start sending out DMs in the next few days, so keep an eye out!

Thanks so much, and have a great day!
