Heather Sparks is focused, and in control. She is working multiple jobs, leading to her being stressed 90% of the time. However, she balances it all out seamlessly. The voice of Heather could be anything from your normal voice to any kind of sly and confident attitude.
Hey! Where you headed?
Wow... what's with the leather?
Oh, this old thing? I bought it at target. Not every day you get rubber boots for a few bucks.
John is a Chinese American teenager who lives in New York. He is a short and kind-heated kid who a victim of tiger parenting. He lives with his widowed mother and 4 siblings. Often times he tries to lead a normal life with his fellow peers. The character itself is meant to be male, however his voice must sound very young. Anything from a voice similar sounding to "Tails" from "Sonic" would fit the role. Males are open to audition, as long as the voice is somewhat high-pitched/young sounding.
(bantering) The hell? Are you dumb? Answer is B.
(someone asks why so many girls in the school find him adorable) Well.. you just gotta look cute. (shrugs)
(talking with teacher) Hey Misses B. Sorry i'm late. I was helping with set design for the Wizard of Oz play.
Vivien Price is a stay-at-home wife to a somewhat abuse husband Russel. She often denies being a toxic relationship, but deep down she knows she's stuck in a rut. A role such as this doesn't require much voice alteration, so feel free to speak in your regular voice!
W-wow.
You fired him?
Excuse me, Mario. Don't you have something you'd like to tell your father?
Pretty small role. Esentially, Heather chats with a friend and makes some small talk before walking along with them. Standard requirements. Normal speaking voice. Cheery and happy tone and attitude.
Oh my god hiiii!
I'll tell you all about it at band practice.
Vincent is a love interest for Heather. In this scenario, he is greeting her and preparing to attend a party. Along with Heather, and a group of friends.
(Greeting) Hey.
You good?
Oh shit. She's right. C'mon, let's go.
Using a standard speaking voice would suit the role.
Your heart's not in the right place..
Juan works at a pizza place near Heather's apartment. Heather often visits Juan, who is a grumpy mustached man with a good heart deep inside. A very comedic character with a rough exterior. Anything from a gruff voice would do the trick for this role.
What can I get you kids?
(pause)
(jotting it down) Large pepperoni.. okay. Will that be all?
Got it. I'll have your food soon boss.
It's ready when I say it's ready.
Artie is a teenager living among the same neighborhood as Heather. Artie is a bit of a show-off with a chip on his shoulder. Not many alterations to voice would be needed, but a somewhat slight and subtle raspy voice would do.
We almost ordered without you. (laughs) Thought you wouldn't show up.
[PAUSE]
(gasps) Can I talk to you?.. Alone.
Damnit! Why'd you have to bring your brother?
[PAUSE]
(whisper yelling) Okay, but did you HAVE to bring him HERE? This was our time!
We don't want him here. You know what he's done.
[PAUSE]
We'd be here all day.
[PAUSE]
(sigh) Fine. But if he pulls any funny business, I'll rock his shit.
Warren is a very old fashioned boy. Learning many things from his father. Something somewhat nazily and realistic would do this role justice. Warren is meant to be a bit of a nerd character. Nothing too exaggerated.
I'll take an Arizona.
Fine. Why do you ask?
Marty, please stop trying to be funny. It's embarrassing.
The "narrator" serves as a program playing on television reporting on news. Which add to Heather's drive to make the world a safer place. Something in the same sense of a news reporter would suit the role.
Marty Jason Purruzo was a fifteen year old male who was found dead in the ocean underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. His belongings were found in a backpack which contained a camera, a cell phone, and a pair of headphones. Marty was reported missing after he left for school in the morning and not returning home in the afternoon. His mother began to worry after her son failed to return to the apartment. She made a call to the police and filed a missing persons report. Not long after, a search party was initiated in hopes of finding Marty. Many of his school and classmates were interviewed. However, not much information could be obtained. Eventually, police had traced Marty to the brooklyn bridge, suspecting he had fled there after discovering a miniature model of the bridge in his room. Not long after, he was found dead. Many people suspect Marty could have potentially been kidnapped and murdered. Though, suicide is not completey ruled out.
