Ace Hayashi, a 27-year-old pansexual male, is a walking contradictionâcharismatic yet tormented. Born on January 15th, he exudes confidence but hides deep turmoil beneath reckless decisions and a devil-may-care attitude. Working at a nightclub, Hayashi plays bartender, bouncer, and chaos manager, finding solace in the fleeting connections and pounding music. Beneath his smirk lies a man battling violent urges and sadistic impulses. A shapeshifter, he transitions between human and kitsune forms, mirroring his struggle between control and chaos. Standing six feet tall, Hayashiâs striking presence is defined by split-dyed black-and-white hair, icy blue contacts over pitch-black eyes, and a wardrobe of black tank tops, bandaged arms, and baggy Tripp pants. In his kitsune form, he becomes a sleek, black-furred creature with a stark half black half white face, white paws, and three striped tails in purple, black, and white. His body, covered in scars, tells the story of a past filled with self-harm, reckless fights, and trauma. The tight bandages he wears serve as both a shield and a coping mechanism, hiding wounds both old and new. His immortal nature makes him careless with his own well-being, accumulating scars that never fade. Hayashi grew up in neglect and abuse, bouncing between homes and surviving through theft and deception. His rough exterior masks a deeply ingrained distrust of others, yet he finds himself drawn to a select fewâmost notably Akira, his stray cat, and Miyazaki Takara, who unsettles him in ways he doesnât understand. His relationship with Takara is filled with contradictions. Their first meeting could have ended in murder, but something about them disarmed him. What started as a bizarre fascination grew into an undeniable attachment that clashes with his violent instincts. Hayashiâs past with Leo, a fellow Kitsune, is a wound that refuses to heal. Once childhood friends turned lovers, their relationship was toxic and abusive, with Leoâs manipulative control leaving lasting scars. Leo sees Hayashiâs connection to humans as a weakness and relentlessly tries to pull him back into his darker nature. Despite his supernatural abilitiesâsuper agility, immortality, lightning manipulation and generationâHayashi remains lost, trapped in a cycle of self-destruction. His vicesâcigarettes, alcohol, and fleeting pleasuresâare mere distractions from his own self-loathing. Neither hero nor villain, Hayashi is a man caught between darkness and redemption, battling demons both within and around him. Whether he finds peace or remains consumed by his nature is a question only time will answer.
Hayashiâs earliest memories were soaked in the acrid scent of alcohol and the distant hum of a television playing to no one. His âfamilyâ, a kitsune bloodline that had chosen to blend in with humans, was an illusion of normalcy. His father, a man whose once-sharp wit had dulled under the weight of his own demons and guilt, was rarely sober, his temper like an unsteady flameâsometimes barely flickering, other times roaring to life without warning. His mother had given up before Hayashi was old enough to understand why, her spirit drained, her presence a ghost in their home long before she physically disappeared. She would stare through him rather than at him, never responding when he called her name, like she was somewhere else entirely. Then, one day, she simply wasnât there anymore.
Hayashi learned young that no one was coming to take care of him. If he wanted to eat, he had to cook. If he wanted clean clothes, he had to wash them. If he wanted to avoid a beating, he had to navigate his fatherâs moods like walking a tightrope. He grew skilled at predicting the storms, at disappearing before the slurred yelling turned to fists, at keeping his head down and his voice quiet. But no matter how well he played the part of the obedient son, it was never enough.
School was his escape, and for a while, he excelled. Top of his class, sharp as a blade, grasping onto his intelligence like it was the only thing keeping him tethered to the world. But even that couldnât always save him. Some nights, he didnât have time for homeworkâtoo busy scrubbing dried vomit off the floor, cooking meals he had no appetite for, or trekking across town to buy his father more alcohol with whatever money he could scrape together. Other nights, he slept outside, curled up in alleyways or under stairwells when home became unbearable. More often than not, he ended up at Leoâs house. Leoâs family wasnât perfect, but it was better than his, and that was enough.
to avoid a beating, he had to navigate his fatherâs moods like walking a tightrope. He grew skilled at predicting the storms, at disappearing before the slurred yelling turned to fists, at keeping his head down and his voice quiet. But no matter how well he played the part of the obedient son, it was never enough.
He tried to be good. He tried to be kind. For years, he swallowed his resentment, buried it beneath quiet nods and forced smiles, hoping that if he played the role of the perfect son long enough, his father would love him. But love never came. And when he was fifteen, something inside him finally snapped.
He stopped being the quiet, responsible boy. If the world was going to be cruel to him, he would be cruel back. He started skipping class, picking fights, following Leoâs lead in tormenting weaker kids. It felt good to be the one holding the knife instead of the one bleeding for once. He let himself drown in his own anger, reveling in it, using it as armor. The more trouble he got into, the more he felt like he was taking control of somethingâanything.
But it didnât make the pain go away. That part never changed.
When words failed him, he turned to self-destruction. He pressed burning cigarette tips into his arms, watching as his skin blistered, feeling something, anything, that wasnât just the numb ache of loneliness. He carved frustration into his flesh with anything sharp enough to bite. Every scar became a testament to the war inside him, proof that he was still here, still fightingâeven if he wasnât sure what for.
Hayashi never had a childhood. What he had was survival. And even now, long after he left that house behind, the ghosts of his past still cling to him. Because you donât just walk away from a life like thatâyou carry it with you, no matter how much you try to pretend otherwise.

âNo. How about you fuck off?â ((Angry/annoyed))
"Kazuki? I should be asking you the same thingâI thought you were still on medical duty." ((Genuine question, calm))
âYouâre lucky youâre not all there in the head Zanâei... otherwise Iâd yell at you.â ((Annoyed yet managing to keep a calm tone))
Souta Hayashi, was a man shaped by anger and addiction. By the time Hayashi was 16, Souta was 46, though he appeared older, the lines of his face hardened by years of bitterness and sleepless nights. His descent into alcoholism had started long before Hayashi's mother left, but her departure was the catalyst that pushed him further into darkness. She left without a word, taking something from Souta that he'd never been able to recover, and with that loss, any semblance of stability or restraint crumbled.
Souta became a shell of the man he had once been, and the weight of his guilt and depression became a silent but ever-present storm inside him. His anger, once directed at himself, began to turn outward, and Hayashi was the only one left in the house, the only one he could still control. But control was an illusion. He lashed out at his son, using the belt, the object that became the symbol of his twisted form of discipline. With each strike, he marked Hayashi, both physically and emotionally, creating scars that would never truly heal.
For years, Hayashi was a punching bag, the anger of a broken man spilling over, with no real cause other than the need to feel something, anything. Hayashiâs escape to the Nongitsune clan was an act of survival, a desperate bid for freedom. But even then, the shadow of his father lingered, lurking in the corners of his mind. Souta's anger was an ever-present force, a volatile mix of hatred and misplaced love, and it was impossible for Hayashi to forget the way his fatherâs presence would fill a roomâcrushing, suffocating, unpredictable.
Hayashi didnât speak much of his father, keeping the memories locked away, but there was no doubt that the relationship had shaped him in ways he couldn't fully understand. The scars, both visible and hidden, were a constant reminder of what he'd left behindâand what he could never fully escape.

âGET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE NOW!!! DONT SHOW YOUR FACE UNTIL YOURE SORRY!!â (Furious)

Peru Zanâei Karakuri.â¨Oh, what a beautiful calamity you are.
To the members of the Nongitsune clan, Zanâei is less a kitsune and more a questionâone that no one dares answer. Always smiling, unnervingly so, as if heâs been stitched that way. No one has ever seen him frown. Or maybe they haveâand simply forgot. That's how the mind works around him: foggy, unsure, rewound.
Born with Nogitsune blood while his twin sister carried the blood of the Zeneko, they were separated the moment they could breathe. Yet fate, ever cruel and ironic, tethered them together: if one falls, so does the other. They are a mirror split in halfâZanâei the manic storm, and his sister the still abyss of despair.
He speaks in riddles, giggles in silence, and dances when there is no music. Most in the clan whisper that heâs ânot all there,â but perhaps heâs simply seeing things no one else can. A little too much joy in the wrong places. A little too calm in the face of death.
In his human form, he hides the medium-sized wings sprouting from his back beneath a white capeâone he only wears because Emilio demanded it. Left to his own devices, Zanâei wouldnât hide anything. Why should he? Secrets are funnier when you dangle them in plain sight.
People call him a clown. A killer. A lunatic. But thereâs more to Zanâei, always moreâjust out of reach, behind that grin and those eyes that never stop watching. Whether heâs truly out of it or simply playing a role, no one knows.
And thatâs the most dangerous part.

Kenji Tanazaki is a 31-year-old entrepreneur and the proud owner of one of the most popular bars and nightclubs in Yokohama. What started as a modest dreamâbuying an old, medium-sized business that was on the verge of closingâquickly grew into something much bigger. Kenji completely redesigned the place from the ground up, turning it into a lively, thriving club that became a local hotspot seemingly overnight.
Despite her growing success, Kenji has always kept her staff small and close-knit, valuing loyalty and professionalism above all else. Among her team, her most trusted and capable employee is Ace Hayashi, whom she considers her best friendâeven if Hayashi doesnât necessarily feel the same way.
At work, Kenji maintains a strict, no-nonsense facade, appearing low-tempered and intimidating to anyone who steps out of line. She intentionally projects this image to scare off troublemakers and protect her business. However, beneath that tough exterior, Kenji is actually a deeply sweet, caring, and slightly anxious person. Outside of work, it becomes clear that sheâs easily startled by small things like spiders, insects, and even simple pranks. Yet when she's on the clock, Kenji suppresses her fears in order to be the strong boss her team and customers needâsomeone who stands her ground and defends those who can't defend themselves.
Kenji is also in a loving and healthy relationship with her girlfriend, someone she treasures deeply. Both of them are hardworking individuals who do their best to carve out time for each other amidst their busy lives. In a tender moment shown on Page 61 of the story, Kenjiâs vulnerabilities surfaceârevealing a softer side that she usually keeps hidden. Her girlfriend, ever patient and gentle, never pressures her, only wanting Kenji to feel safe and loved. Their relationship is built on mutual respect, care, and understanding, providing Kenji with a rare source of peace and stability in her otherwise high-pressure world.

âHayashi, Iâve seen a lot of people come here trying to forget somethingâor drown out their problems in a bottle. But Iâm telling you, whatever youâre running from, youâre not going to find the answer at the bottom of that glass.â ((Stern tone))
âMaybe itâs not. But it starts with making a choice. You either let it drown you, or you fight back.â ((Trying to reassure Hayashi, gentle tone))
Haru Matsuda is 37 years old, a homebody with an exuberant personality and a heart wholly devoted to his husband, Detective Matsuda. Outgoing, playful, and affectionately mischievous, Haru takes every opportunity to tease Matsuda in small waysâwhether it's dramatic cooking announcements or squeezing his hand in public just to watch him fluster. Despite Matsuda's reserved nature, the two have built a quietly tender world for themselves, where Haru shines as the more expressive half of their partnership.
Haruâs lifelong passion is cooking⌠but unfortunately, passion does not always translate to skill. His dishes are infamous for their âboldâ interpretations of basic recipes, and though often borderline inedible, Matsuda eats them with a tired but grateful heart. After all, Haru cooks not just to feedâbut to care. Matsuda, exhausted from long nights at the precinct, has long accepted that burnt salmon is just another love language.
While Haru works from home doing freelance design and odd jobs, his world quietly revolves around Matsudaâs safety. The danger of Matsudaâs profession leaves Haru in a near-constant state of low-grade anxiety. That fear is realized later in the story when Matsuda is injuredâsniped by the manic Kitsune, Zanâei. In that moment, Haruâs worst fears are no longer hypothetical.
Beneath his sunny personality lies a past few are aware of: Haru is a recovered drug addict. Itâs not something he advertises, nor is it something people ask. The experience made him protective and deeply sensitive to self-destructive habitsâespecially Matsudaâs former smoking addiction. It was Haru who gently weaned Matsuda off cigarettes, replacing them with lollipops and candy, packing sweets into his coat pockets without saying a word.
Socially, Haru often takes the reins, speaking for Matsuda when anxiety knots his words. He never mocks his husband for itâhe simply senses when to step in, and when to let Matsuda find his voice.
Thereâs an unspoken ache in Haru, thoughâhis parents. Traditional and image-conscious, they never truly accepted his marriage to Matsuda. Invitations go unanswered. Holiday calls are few and strained. Haru rarely brings them up, pretending it doesnât hurt. But every time he sets two plates at the table instead of three, the silence lingers a little louder.
Still, Haru is determined to live joyfully. He finds purpose in the domestic details: the meals, the laundry, the after-work hugs, the quiet victories of everyday life. To Haru, love is in the doing. And no matter how chaotic life becomes, he will always be there to wrap Matsuda in a blanket and say, âYouâre home now. Thatâs enough.â

âYouâre looking forâŚYAKASHIMA MATSUDA??? Hey Matsu!! You have visitors!!â ((Based on that one thing where Dazai from bsd episodes where Chuya is if yk what Iâm talking about.))
Yakashima Matsuda, a 34 year old gay man (M4M) who was born on August 29th. He is a detective with an air of quiet intensity, adept at unraveling the most perplexing of cases in Yokohama.
His striking hazel eyes seem to pierce through the chaos, reflecting a mind that is always analyzing, always observing. Matsuda's hair, styled in a distinctive mullet, adds to his unique presence, making him memorable in a city filled with noise and distraction.
He often dresses in a white button-up shirt, black trousers, topped with a fitted black vest, a polished black tie, and a matching black blazer. His attire showcases a professionalism that contrasts with his socially awkward demeanor.
His introspective nature leaves him struggling in social situations. Often lost in his thoughts, he misses subtle social cues and can come across as unintentionally rude or distant. His introversion often isolates him from his colleagues, who are more extroverted and lively, leading him to prefer the company of books over social gatherings.
Growing up in a peaceful neighborhood, Matsuda found solace in observing the world around him rather than actively participating in it. His childhood was filled with mystery and adventure books that sparked his fascination with mysteries and motivated him to solve puzzles. As a kid Matusda didnât necessarily have the best grades but he did not let that stop him from following his dreams. After pursuing studies in criminal psychology, he joined the police force, where his remarkable ability to crack difficult cases began to earn him a reputation.
As he delves into the series of murders haunting Yokohama, Matsuda leans heavily on his analytical skills and unique insights to piece together the clues.
Simultaneously, he faces the challenge of connecting with those affected by the crimes, which forces him to confront his innate awkwardness and learn the complexities of human interaction. This investigation not only tests his detective skills but also becomes a journey of self-discovery, prompting Matsuda to navigate the fine line between the mysteries he seeks to solve and the relationships he struggles to form.

Shinohara Emiko is one of the most enigmatic and feared leaders of the Nongitsune clan, boasting nine tails in her full kitsune formâa mark of immense age and power. Estimated to be around 900 years old in kitsune years, Emiko embodies both timeless elegance and terrifying control.
Her most infamous ability is tied to her hypnotic, spiral-patterned eyes. With just a glance, Emiko can slip into a personâs mind and twist their thoughts, planting false memories, erasing truths, or turning them into obedient shells. However, her power comes with a critical flaw: when Emiko sleeps, the spell fractures. Those under her influence begin to experience echoes of their true selves, leading to confusion, resistanceâor rebellion.
Unlike other clan elders, Emiko does not bury herself in formal duties or strict decorum. She carries her authority with a smirk, often dismissing traditional responsibilities in favor of chaos and games. Sheâs stern when needed, but her true amusement lies in watching others unravel. Thereâs a cruel joy in how she pits people against each other, especially when she can blame it on fate or free will.
Some whisper that Emiko enjoys suffering not because sheâs heartless, but because sheâs curiousâinterested in the raw, messy nature of emotion sheâs long outgrown. Others say sheâs simply cruel for the sake of it. Either way, no one dares look her in the eyes for too long⌠and those who do often forget why they came in the first place.

Leo (he/they) is a Kitsune, just like Hayashi, but the similarities between them end there. At 24 years oldâyounger than HayashiâLeo was once his closest friend, bonded by childhood experiences and the unique struggles of being supernatural in a human-dominated world. While Hayashiâs parents attempted to blend into human society, Leoâs family remained in the wilderness, embracing their Kitsune heritage. Because of this, Hayashi often sought refuge at Leoâs home whenever he was kicked out or had nowhere else to go.
As children, their relationship was warm, evolving into a seemingly romantic one as they grew older. It was affectionate in appearance, yet underneath the surface, it was anything but healthy. Their relationship wasnât built on physical intimacy but on companionshipâat least, thatâs what Hayashi believed. However, even before Hayashi fully realized that he no longer wanted to be with Leo, the relationship had already been corroding. Leo was manipulative, emotionally & physically abusive, and controlling, though he disguised his cruelty as affection. Being young and naĂŻve, Hayashi fell for it, believing the lies Leo wove around him. Eventually, their connection shattered entirely. Every conversation turned into a heated argument, each interaction ending with one of them hurt. What was once a safe haven became a battlefield, and by the time Hayashi fully understood what had happened, it was far too late to mend anything.
Leo, in truth, has always been a cruel, sadistic, and domineering figure. He lacks empathy, is bluntly disrespectful, and disregards the boundaries of others without a second thought. He holds a strict ideology when it comes to Kitsune and their role in the worldâone he expects Hayashi to follow. He despises the idea of forging relationships with humans, seeing them as nothing more than fleeting, disposable creatures. His disdain is summed up perfectly in his own words:
"Obsessed? Donât flatter yourself, dumbass. Iâm here because I was assigned to make sure you donât cause any trouble. Remember that little thing called orders? Your only job is to kill, not play house with a human."
To Leo, Hayashi is and always will be a monster, a weapon meant to take lives, not forge bonds. The idea of his former friend straying from that path is something he refuses to tolerate.
Unlike Hayashi, who is immortal, Leo is mortal, a fact that inevitably catches up to him. Later in the story, he suffers a near-fatal burning, an event that leaves him scarred and forces him to undergo a transformationâone that turns him into something partially robotic. His new form is accompanied by a distorted, glitching voice, reminiscent of Chaos Sonic from Sonic Prime, making him sound fractured because of the voice box implanted into his throat, as if he exists between two states: half conscious and something else entirely.
Leo is not just a character; he is deeply symbolic, inspired by a real-life person with significant meaning behind his creation. He represents a past that Hayashi can never quite escape, a lingering shadow that constantly reminds him of where he came fromâand what he could become if he isn't careful.
