"Everyone has their own escape from reality. For some, it's video games. Others, it can be eating. My escape... is solving mysteries."
Mint Pennyroyal has just transferred to Rau Jones academy, a private school in Washington. She's bored, with nothing to do. Her fascination with solving mysteries is cut off, as there is a lack of anything interesting happening. Until a plethora of mysteries pop up after something horrible happens in the school.

People tend to ask me why I enjoy solving mysteries so much. They tend to think it’s some deep, thoughtful reason. It’s pretty simple, though. It’s the urge to do and find something exciting when your average, everyday life is boring and uneventful. I didn’t know what I’d have to deal with later, and I wish I had never dealt with it… Though right now, I’m listening to a group of teenagers who hate each other argue about what to do for our math project. [Calm, slightly annoyed at the end]
Here I am in Washington State… about to basically start my social life over. It’s not like I had one to begin with, though… I might as well try to enjoy it while I’m here… I only have to survive this year then I graduate. It won’t be that bad… just don’t cause a scene. [Worried, motivating herself]
