Synopsis:

Quest of Crimson Tears is a first-person perspective Psychological Horror and Fantasy VN-card game about 18 uniquely gifted individuals summoned to face brutal trials of life and death in pursuit of their greatest wishes and deepest desires. As they progress, their numbers dwindle one by one. To win is to survive each merciless trial–or to be one of the remaining two to outlast the rest. Strength will falter, wits will be tested, and fate itself may be altered at the flip of a card–betrayal is inevitable. In an unforgiving game of ruthlessness, who will be the last ones standing?

Additional Info in Regards to the Project:
This project is within the 'death game' genre featuring trials that are psychologically challenging played through card gameplay, puzzle-solving, and decision making skills. It blends in a mix of psychological horror, fantasy, suspense, and thriller in the death game genre.

It takes direct inspiration from media such as Danganronpa, Zero Escape, DND, Alice in Borderland, and Library of Ruina to deliver its own narrative. It’s also in 2.5D and built in Unity, featuring a 3D environment where you can freely roam and inspect 3D objects, while featuring 2D illustrations for certain in-game assets and objects such as the cards, sprites, CGs, etc. Each sprite is fully rendered and lightly animated. This is also an indie project made almost entirely out of volunteer work so far. Therefore, we are incredibly grateful for the team we have cultivated today and incredibly excited to see the future in store for this project with voice actors on-board!

Requirements:

  • All voice actors must have a Discord account for communicating with the staff, development is done through a discord server. 

  • Voice actors must be at least 16 years old, if you are under 18 you’ll need a guardian to sign the NDA for any given documents.

  • It is required to have good audio quality (a high quality microphone with no background noise is preferred). 

  • This is currently a deferred position solely for the Prologue/Demo, beyond that we intend to be a paid position with the amount dependent on how funding goes. By auditioning you are acknowledging this piece of information.

Character Notes:

Each character will have their biography information, a character note, and voice description in order for your audition to properly match what we’re looking for, however, you’re not required to strictly follow these descriptions. They are there to be taken into consideration rather than a harsh guideline.

It is also important to us to make it clear that regardless of your gender orientation, we encourage you to audition for anyone you’d like regardless! Each character’s voice description will be added with a ‘masculine’ or ‘feminine’ leaning note for whoever it applies to.

    Confidentiality:

  • To those that receive callback scripts and are eventually cast, we ask that you sign an NDA that prevents any materials or scripts to be shared during this casting process due to them being confidential. Confidentiality is a large portion of this process to help ensure the casting and production processes go smoothly. Again, if you are 16+ but below 18, you’ll need a guardian to sign. Even when the casting process is over, we ask that you don’t send any of these documents either.

    Hello everyone!

    Firstly, thank you all for your auditions! The amount we've received across all platforms surpasses our expectations and we've reached 800 individualized submissions so far in less than a week and an average of 120~ submissions daily! With that said, I've received a lot of questions privately in regards to callbacks.

    Originally, we were planning to do things in waves and reach out to people with callback scripts and tech tests at the end of each month. However given the current size, we'll likely be a bit more sporadic with it and start here and there next week at the soonest to ensure we keep up and start as soon as the middle of the month or within the following week! If you do not get called back during this period or hear back from us, please don't be discouraged! As it'll be incredibly likely we haven't gotten back to your audition yet, and even so, there is still plenty of time to re-audition before August 31st!

Character Note:

An emotionally diverse cyborg that can switch in an instant, Emerson is sometimes soft-spoken and mindful, other times more eerie and remote, or sharp-witted and focused, yet none of it ever quite feels...genuine. They have such a strong detachment from human emotions that it's just amalgamations and complex codes. Sorcery is the only thing that remains of them that makes them feel any sense of life, the only clear mark of their emotions. Even if they are farther from perfection than everyone else, imperfection is the closest thing they can ever obtain.

Character Description:

An incredible storyteller with an abnormally bubbly and cheery attitude, Lilith captures an audience’s attention with these traits alone. In spite of this, sometimes when she tells her stories, her voice comes off as more soothing and down-to-earth, creating a sort of homey connection with those who listen. What she lacks in, she does her best to hide with her over-the-top nature and an unnatural brightness.

Character Description:

A princess who doesn’t hesitate to lift her kingdom’s spirits through fierce roars and booming vocals–Freya’s outspoken nature and aggressive prowess on the battle gained the respect of her citizens for generations to come. She speaks solely through her heart and only trusts in her gut to prevail–resulting in butting heads with those around her very often, both literally and figuratively. Character Note:

Combining snarkiness, condescension, and laziness into one package, Laux is quite cynical and unforgiving, expressing his opinions without hesitation and letting just a small group of people approach him. With no more than the motivation to indulge in cheap beer and lengthy naps, he wastes the rest of his years away after failing to achieve everything he once desired.

Character Note:

An incredibly elusive leader with a very relaxed demeanor, despite no one ever truly knowing Norrin, he works hard at protecting those around him so they can be just as free as he is. He views himself as a friend rather than a guild master, and often lets that show through his more laissez-faire personality. Yet it doesn’t stop him from being quite lively when he’s passionate. Not only does he know how to keep others safe, but also make them feel as though they're right under his protection.

A sly, shrewd, and clever charmer. Although Khaine seems to have little trouble attracting others with his "man of the people" demeanor, he lacks a strong backbone and will often flee if he senses a hint of danger. When the people pleaser isn’t pleasing, he comes across as somewhat awkward and socially-anxious. He's well aware of what he's good at, and it means having nothing to do with putting himself on the line.

He wholeheartedly believes in his side of the war above all else, and will stop at nothing to help them prevail.

A bubbly, kind-hearted young angel–Flori treats everyone equally with compassion and understanding that try to embody that of the god who sent her. She aimlessly wanders the world to fulfill her purpose of spreading her god’s will to aid in healing the world, a prayer at a time. Despite her age, the time she’s spent has drained a lot out of her and her abilities, and tends to sleep at least 16 hours a day.

A loyal soldier with an intense dedication to her cause–Alexis upholds the knight’s code above all else to protect as many people as she can under righteous law despite holding an ambiguous record. Though she makes those around her a priority, this also includes putting them above her own well being more often than not. She’ll tend to ‘people please’ and act ignorant for almost any conversation if it means it’ll make them feel better in the end. Willing to push through it all, she’ll continue to be a noble guard and be a strong example of what a knight could be.
