QLIPHOTH 13 : A LIMBUS COMPANY DUB

QLIPHOTH 13 : A LIMBUS COMPANY DUB

Project Overview

QLIPHOTH 13 : A Limbus Company English Dub

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Hello and thank you for your interest in our project! This project aims to create an English fandub of the visual novel game "Limbus Company" created by Project Moon. This project is non-profit and not associated with Project Moon directly. We have created this project out of love for the series with a goal at introducing more people to the dark, complex, intriguing world of the City!

The project currently is aiming towards the prologue and first chapter (Canto) of the series. The first thing we will be doing is the promotion videos for the sinners. Should we be successful in this, it will extend to the other Cantos as well as the Intervallos (which are usually unvoiced)!

This project - as well as the game itself - is rated 17+. We urge applicants to be in that age range.

Two of the main roles or "Sinners" have been taken by the mods and that is why they are not available. These are Ishmael and Sinclair.

WHAT IS LIMBUS COMPANY?

Limbus Company is a turn-based RPG Gacha game, though the story itself is told in more of a visual-novel style. It is developed by Project Moon and set in the same setting as their other two games, Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina. It takes place in a place known as the City and its 26 districts. It is a dark, occasionally gruesome location, that is both technologically advanced and dystopian. The official description is "As the Executive Manager of Limbus Company, lead your group of twelve Sinners, venture into the buried facilities of Lobotomy Corporation, and lay claim on the Golden Boughs."

Lots of the cast are based on characters from classic novels, including but not limited to "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka, "Crime and Punishment" by Fyodor Dostoevsky, Goethe's Faust, "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte, and more. The plot line also follows parts of "The Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri.

The game itself contains strong language, body horror and dismemberment, blood and gore, drug usage, kidnapping, abuse and bullying, and a lot more. If you are sensitive to these things, please take care of yourself before deciding to audition.

REQUIREMENTS

The main requirement is to be 17+ and to have a clear enough mic (or a location with low noise). USB mics are allowed as that is what the mods use. Discord is a requirement as that is where our base of operations is held.

Currently, people are allowed to hold at max 3 main/named roles. Extras - generally, characters with less than 10 lines or so - will be assigned via the discord server on most occasions.

It is recommended for people auditioning for the Sinners (our 12 main characters) to know how to sing as there is an ending song that is sung by the main character at the end of their chapters.

We also ask that you do not slate your auditions.

EXTRA NOTES
We ask that people auditioning to be LGBT-friendly as the mods are both LGBT.

Extra characters can be auditioned for can be done so in our discord at https://discord.gg/EevBjvQdVC . You can also submit auditions for the characters listed in this project via the discord.
Auditioning in the discord does not give you a higher chance at getting in and the deadline for the characters in the project remains the same regardless of audition location.

Some characters may have notable accents or say words in other languages. These will be noted in their roles.

We are not aiming for a 1-to-1 impression of the original Korean voices. While we do value closeness, you do not have to try to do an impression!

Any other questions may be directed towards me, or asked in the discord server.

Sinner #1 - Yi Sang

Yi Sang is a cryptic and mellow man with a lot of thoughtfulness to him. He was a researcher and architect previously affiliated with the League of Nine Littérateurs, having invented the Mirror as a T Corp. researcher prior to joining Limbus Company.

"Formerly the youngest chief researcher at the [REDACTED] Wing, this Sinner possesses higher intelligence compared to most others. We estimate that everyday conversation with this Sinner will prove difficult for managers selected by our current screening process. Avoiding communication altogether will pose a risk on its own, however. If the Sinner remains silent for a long time, that means he is currently processing a line of deliberate thought; we recommend waiting patiently for him."

Yi Sang's voice is calm and mellow, if not a little sad and empty from time to time. There is very little enthusiasm to his voice and it may be seen as monotone.

This character is Korean and is based off of "The Wings" by Yi Sang.

  • To take an interest in the outside world is not quite a delightful thing, dear reader. It is because the outside is unideal. However, even if you were to question me about what is ideal — I have little confidence that I could come up with an ideal answer.

  • Have you discovered a way to return to the past, or a way to repel the future?

Sinner #2 - Faust

Faust is an observant and intelligent woman with a slight know-it-all attitude. She was the first Sinner to be affiliated with Limbus Company, having spent the time leading up to it recruiting the members of the LCB and developing Mephistopheles.

"The Sinner who developed the engine of Mephistopheles, the bus operated by Limbus Company. She claims that there is no one in the City who could rival her library of knowledge and wisdom, and she isn't necessarily wrong. You might find her high and mighty attitude when she allows you to converse with her displeasing, but as seen with how she treats everyone with subtle gestures of arrogance, there is no hope of her parting with it, ever. We recommend simply nodding once and getting over it. Even though she has an unparalleled genius, we can't quite figure out how to use this one. Perhaps you could be the one to find out?

Faust's voice is calm and soft, at a medium pitch. She shares a Korean VA with Raiden Ei from Genshin Impact, for a better idea of the type of voice.

This character is German and is based off of Johann Faust from Goethe's Faust.

  • It’s Faust. A genius with whom you’re lucky to cross paths even once in your life.

  • When will I ever feel satisfied? Will I ever find it? That moment in time in which I’d be willing to remain forever — relishing the zenith of fulfillment. Does such a thing truly exist? Will I be able to accept what awaits? The only thing I can do… is simply chase after the star.

  • I would always get up after three hours of sleep. I thought it was a natural phenomenon, but I later learned it wasn't the case for every individual.

Sinner #3 - Don Quixote

Don Quixote is a rambunctious and steadfast woman with a strong sense of justice. She never parts with her shoes Rocinante, on her quest to become a valorous Fixer of the City.

"There is no Sinner that can outmatch this one's level of passion. An avid aficionada of all things Fixer, she adorns herself with a variety of Fixer-related merchandise. They won't affect her performance in combat one way or another, so there is no need for you to restrict her from keeping her decorations. She is deeply immersed in the role of a righteous Fixer, hence the exaggerated mannerisms akin to those of an actor. (Has such a thing ever existed, really?) It's advised to play along with her for a smooth mission.

Don Quixote's voice is joyful and enthusiastic, as well as loud and flexible. She speaks in Old English (with thee's and thou's and such) about 95% of the time.

Note: "Quixote" is pronounced "Key-ho-tay" and "Rocinante" is roughly pronounced "Rows-ee-nante".

This character is Spanish and is based off of Don Quixote from the titular novel by Miguel de Cervantes.

Sinner #4 - Ryoshu

Ryōshū is an ungovernable woman with a fascination in art that she uniquely defines, with little tolerance for what disinterests or offends her. Her ventures prior to Limbus Company are unknown, an implied affiliation with the Fingers of the Backstreets notwithstanding.

"As they say, every person has their own creed—and it’s only right to respect it as the Executive Manager. But with some creeds, you will have difficulty in even simply pretending to sympathize. You will have noticed that the Sinner in question is a silent chain-smoker whose eyes shine with a euphoric gleam only during battle. She believes that senselessly destroying the enemy's heads is an uncultured act and a step backward for art. If you are at your wit's end, please press the red button included in your welcome kit.
[CAUTION]: This Sinner's background is one that even our company may have trouble handling; it is advised against making her breed personal resentment towards you.

Ryoshu's voice is a low-medium pitched female voice. It likely has a bit of a rasp to it, as the character is a chain smoker.

Note: Ryoshu speaks in what she calls SANGRIA ; something similar to Japanese "Yojijukugo" . These are 4-character idioms. However, rather than using the actual meanings of the characters to form compound words or idiomatic phrases, she is forming abbreviations using their literal pronunciation sounds.

This character is Japanese, and is likely based on Yoshihide from "Hell Screen" by Ryunosuke Akutagawa.

Meursault is a reserved and complacent man with a desire to be clearly communicated with. He was previously affiliated with N Corp., having tried and failed to form an opinion on their ideals prior to joining Limbus Company.

"Wants clear and concise commands, requiring no judgement on his part.

Merusault's voice is low and steady. He is clear in his words, though at times talks too fast or too slow.

Sinner #6 - Hong Lu

Hong Lu is a giddy and naive man with a tendency for unintentionally insensitive words. He is one of many children of the large and wealthy Jia Family, having lived a life of sheltered luxury prior to joining Limbus Company.

"A Sinner who had lived an affluent life before becoming our company's asset. As such, he has a certain admiration for a free life; but occasionally, he may make ignorant and unsavory questions in regards to the food cooked by a certain other Sinner or other aspects of the low-lives' lowly culture. This can cause much irritation for the other Sinners. However, it is important to note that no sarcastic undertones are contained in his curiosity-driven inquiries, so it is ill-advised to let them get physical over it.

Hong Lu's voice is a medium pitch and generally airy and playful.

This character is Chinese and is based off of Jia Baoyu from "Dream of the Red Chamber" / "The Story of the Stone" by Cao Xueqin.

Sinner #7 - Heathcliff

Heathcliff is a brash and action-oriented man with a strong, dedicated spirit. He was previously affiliated with Wuthering Heights, having grown up alongside the Earnshaws and later working for the Dead Rabbits Syndicate prior to joining Limbus Company.

"This Sinner prefers to take action rather than wait for logic to dictate his course. His thoughts and feelings are blatantly visible in his demeanor, and he has no intention of hiding them; his brashness may cause headaches (or physical injury leading to a headache) in the process of forming a relationship. Please do note that this is not an indication of serious damage to the Sinner's thought process. If his fit of rage persists, please contact the human resources department. Once you realize that he is the type that tends to be simple-minded, you'll have an easier time handling him.

Heathcliff's voice is rough and his speech tends to be brash, but also very emotional. He speaks with a lot of British/English slang, so it's recommended to voice him with an accent.

This character is English/British and is based off of Heathcliff from "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte.

Sinner #9 - Rodion

More frequently known as Rodya, she is a lighthearted and nonchalant woman with a preference for informal conversation. She was previously affiliated with Yurodiviye, having worked to overturn the injustices of the District 25 Backstreets prior to joining Limbus Company.

"The unfortunate traits of being Backstreets-born are apparent in this Sinner. She loves money, gambling, and betting—so it is advised to pay close attention to her as the manager. She tends to deflect orders with an unimpressive wink or a silly joke; we recommend taking a stern stance at times to remind her that you are her superior. Her mood may be down at irregular intervals. There is nothing you can do to aid her in that state, so we recommend waiting for it to pass.

Rodya's voice is medium-pitch, with a slightly flirty, playful tone to it. She is casual and laid-back.

This character is Russian and is based off of Rodion Raskolnikov from "Crime and Punishment" by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

Sinner #12 - Outis

Outis is a brusque and assertive woman with a poorly-disguised inclination to look down on those around her. Previously affiliated with the Smoke War, she has a tendency to judge others based on her experiences there prior to joining Limbus Company.

"This Sinner could serve as an excellent advisor depending on your capability. However, she also has a meddlesome tendency, so it is recommended to keep her satisfied with short replies of agreement. She is an expert when it comes to tactics and various pearls of wisdom about life, making her advice all the more valuable for your mission. In addition, she possesses a vast knowledge of workshop technologies; you could trust her with simple repairs of the bus
[NOTICE]: Unlike the other Sinners, accessing records pertaining to the past of this sinner is not permitted.
[WARNING]: Keep an eye on this Sinner and beware that she does not exercise her cunning intellect for purposes other than completing our company's mission.

Outis has a lower female voice, and tends to have an air of command when she speaks due to her past.

Sinner #13 - Gregor

Gregor is a good-humored and composed man with a bit of a competitive side. He was previously affiliated with the Smoke War, having fought for the Old G Corp. alongside other bug-augmented test subjects prior to joining Limbus Company.

"This Sinner is relatively easy to handle in terms of personality. However, an upsurge of emotion or a sudden change of environment may cause parts or the whole of his body to transform into insectile (notably akin to a carapace, resembling that of the _________) tissues. If you do not wish to be a rude manager (not that you're obligated to be nice), we recommend keeping your facial expression in check so that your disgust is not visible to him. He sometimes uses cynical language, but he can still be reasoned with, and you can get around him without much difficulty as long as you learn the knack of it.

Gregor's voice is rather raspy, as, like Ryoshu, he smokes often. He speaks rather casually.

This character is German/Jewish and is based off of Gregor Samsa from "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka.

Sinner #10 & Executive Manager - Dante

Dante is a relatively grounded and attentive manager with a tendency to make quips. The game opens with them purposefully wiping their memory and replacing their head with a prosthetic clock, only to be approached and recruited by Limbus Company minutes later.

Dante lacks a focus Canto of their own, but acts as Limbus Company's ever-present main character, bumbling through the hellish journey of guiding the Sinners down their paths to the Golden Boughs.

NOTES: Dante's head is a clock, and in-game doesn't have a voice at all. They also have no gender at all, though are debatably masculine in presentation. We are deciding to dub over a lot of the text spoken to the Sinners, as well as their narration, as Dante serves as a narrator for the game.

We would like a voice that is androgynous.

Guide - Vergilius

Vergilius is a Color Fixer known as the Red Gaze. He is a continuing character from the Project Moon web novel Leviathan posted on Posttype. He was an independent Fixer running his own Office in V Corp.

Currently, Vergilius is employed as the guide of Limbus Company and dedicated to his role as caretaker of Charon, rarely showing his true strength as a Color.

Vergilius is a jaded and straightforward individual with a sharp tongue. He is emotionally detached from most of the group, viewing them as a group of unruly children he has to watch over. He keeps his distance from them, and has no qualms with threatening Sinners with extreme violence or using it to discipline them.

Bus Driver - Charon

Charon, is the offbeat, childishly strange Bus Driver of Limbus Company's bus, Mephistopheles. She first appeared as a minor character in Leviathan, a prequel web comic.

Charon is a laconic, quiet individual whose few words are blunt and brief. Charon simply seems to be in her own world, and repeatedly proves that she is neither shy nor scared of the Sinners. Similarly to Vergilius, Charon stays disconnected from the group and shows no interest in becoming close with them. Her stubborn refusal to learn how to use a map or navigate properly in Canto I: The Outcast is indicative of her unwavering nature and tendency to resist outside influence. Charon has somewhat of a childish personality, frequently using phrases such as "vroom-vroom" or "shimmy-shaky" and talking about Mephistopheles as if it were a living being. She also refers to herself exclusively in third person.

Her voice is soft and slightly monotone, and sounds much younger than most of the other characters.

Gubo is an overarching antagonist introduced in Canto I: The Outcast of Limbus Company. He is currently in opposition with Limbus Company to retrieve the Golden Boughs within the ruined Lobotomy Corporation facilities.

Gubo is a very professional man, as seen in Leviathan; though he was not interested in any of the art put on the Ring's auction and refused to bow his head, he wore the face veil and respected the gallery’s traditions. This however was a more pragmatic choice in order to avoid potential conflict, wanting to gain access to the Ring's corridor through the path of least resistance without unnecessary conflict.

Jia Huan

Jia Huan is Hong Lu's older brother and an overarching antagonist introduced in Canto I: The Outcast.

A member of N Corp. and part of Director Hermann's team, he is currently in opposition with Limbus Company to retrieve the Golden Boughs within the ruined Lobotomy Corporation facilities.

Little is known about Jia Huan at the moment. However, he is shown to flaunt a blunt, arrogant personality, as well as having an embittered rivalry with Hong Lu. Jia Huan's personality seems to be notoriously unpleasant and violent, with Jia Xichun referring to him as "that asshole" and appearing surprised that Hong Lu came out of his encounter with Jia Huan unscathed.

Yuri

Yuri is a Grade 8 Fixer and former employee of Lobotomy Corporation who acts as the main supporting character for Canto I: The Outcast.

Yuri is rather normal in comparison to the eccentric sinners. While she opens up to the group over the course of the chapter, she starts off considerably mild. Yuri expresses kindness and consideration, and although she is used enough to the violence of the City to have no reaction upon witnessing Mephistopheles' source of fuel, she is distressed by Aya's death to the point of Outis expressing her disapproval. It's clear that Yuri carries a form of unresolved trauma which continues to weigh on her and sometimes result in weak-heartedness. Dante even points out that she is always slouching, describing it as if "it was her sole surviving obligation to fulfill the wills of her late colleagues."

She also has a bit of an exasperated side to her, which shows when handling Charon, a bus driver with no idea how to use a map. However this situation only goes on to permeate Yuri's kindness when she later expresses wanting to properly teach her.

  • Excuse me… Are you the people from Limbus Company? I’m Yuri, a former employee of the previous L Corp. I look forward to working with you.

  • …My contracts might get extended if I return with results.

  • Is it so wrong that I survived? Should I have been buried alive alongside my coworkers? When the whole building was going under, all so the Abnormalities won’t escape?

Hopkins

Hopkins is a Grade 8 Fixer and a supporting character in Canto I: The Outcast.

Hopkins is a serious and often rude person, which is balanced out by his coworker Aya keeping him in check with her cheerful nature. He looks down on anyone he perceives as lesser than him, as seen by his dismissive and disrespectful treatment of Yuri and the Sinners. He shows a much nicer side of himself when interacting with people he values as equals or sees as above him, such as when he met Vergilius, who he holds some admiration for, or his friendly banter with Aya. When things get dangerous, Hopkins is quick to leave and protect himself with little consideration to the safety of others.

  • The Red Gaze! It’s—it’s such an honor to meet you…! I’ve heard so many stories of your deeds, and to see you in person…

  • Don’t you know why we bothered to let a fallen Wing’s feather into our Office?

  • Now look… What do you expect us to do with just “Oh nooo, I’ve never seen those before!” Huh?

Alex

Alex, also known in the game simply as Statuehead, is a survivor of Branch D-02, one of the many fallen branches of Lobotomy Corporation. She is a minor character in Canto I: The Outcast.

When Alex is met in the game, she is a shell of the person that she used to be. Yuri comments that her former coworker would never commit violence against others for the sake of her own survival despite there being evidence proving that the opposite was likely the truth. She shows a glimpse at who she once was when she asks Yuri to stop worrying about her and let her be, which is the only moment where she shows a true understanding and awareness of her surroundings.

He is resentful of Gregor for becoming a deserter and blames him for abandoning his comrades after being such an important figure for the Wing.
