PSI - Psychic Survellience and Investigation
Project Overview
4-5 minute audio scene. This is basically a student film, in audio drama format.
The larger project this is a piece of is an audio drama inspired by 2000s/early 2010s scifi television, like Warehouse 13 and Fringe.
In it, a woman makes a series of silly conspiracy theory shitposts on social media. She's brought in by the government, because all her jokes are true. Although she doesn't realize it, she's clairvoyant.
Over the course of the series, she comes to work for PSI - a clandestine government agency that handles crimes and incidents caused by people with psychic abilities, while keeping their powers secret.
The scene you'd be auditioning for is an interrogation. Myra Barker (the clairvoyant) is interrogated by government agents about the jokes she posted on the internet. By the end of the interrogation, they're certain she has powers.
Tone-wise, this is a dramedy, in between comedy and drama. This situation has stakes, and I want the listener to think it's more than just something silly. But I also want to get a lot of laughs.
You don't need top of the line recording equipment for this - if you can get relatively clear audio without background noise, that's perfect.
All casting is race-blind. American accents are a must (don't care if you're actually American, so long as it's convincing). Would love to have a southern or midwest accent for either of the agents, but it's not a necessity.

28. Female.
Our main character. Minor influencer - runs a relatively successful humor substack. Tends to shitpost on twitter when stoned.
Anxious. Neurotic. Witty. Tends to talk at a mile-a-minute. Clairvoyant - in that sometimes she'll make a joke, but the thing she joked about is actually true. Unaware of her abilities.

They're just jokes. Does the government regulate shitposting now?
I have the right to remain silent. I won't tell you anything! I'll... I'll just be silent.
Male. Thirty.
In this scene's good cop/bad cop duo, he's the good cop. He's also not the brightest bulb - like if a golden retriever was a government agent. Extroverted.

You can relax. I promise you, this will all be fine.
Female. Mid to late thirties.
In this scene's good cop/bad cop duo, she's the bad cop. Sarcastic. A little deadpan. Intimidating.

Illuminate me. What is a "shitpost".
