INTRODUCTION
PROJECT WISTERIA: PERPETUAL VERDURE is a fan-made, non-profit audio drama project inspired by the Danganronpa series. We have no affiliation with Kazutaka Kodaka or Spike Chunsoft.
The story follows 16 eighteen-year old students in The Wisteria Academy inside of a floral terrarium. They are in a killing game directed by a talking bleeding heart dove, MonoHato, and they are trapped inside of their school with no way out unless they comply with MonoHato's rules. They must kill to escape.
PROJECT WISTERIA follows the basic Danganronpa rules with a short prologue, 6 chapters, and an epilogue. It will be in full audio drama/video series hybrid format throughout its running time, complete with sprites of the students and miscellaneous artwork.
AUDITION RULES
To audition, you must not be under the age of 16.
Please have a Discord account, as we will use it to communicate as staff. Auditions without a Discord handle attached will be discarded.
Record your auditions in either an ABC, ABCABC or AABBCC format.
NOTES
Student 8, Mizuno Aihara, will not have VA auditions open. We will be using a text to speech program for his AAC device during the story.
Student 16, Nobuki Jounai, will not have VA auditions open. He has been precasted.
You are free to break the bounds of voice descriptions with a limit! We would love to see creative takes on what our characters might sound like.
CONCLUSION
The audition deadline is at JUNE 7TH, 2026. We will not be taking any more auditions after then.

Misa Okamura is a private dog sitter that takes care of all sorts of dogs in her free time for money. She is cold and aloof, not showing much emotion around her peers, and she usually hangs out alone. Misa thinks objectively, putting her logic before her emotions, and tends to stay calm in most uncomfortable situations because of that. When registered to the Wisteria Academy, Misa watches from the sidelines and only intervienes when necessary.
VOICE DESCRIPTION:
High-Medium feminine. Aloof, flowy and soft/calm. She sounds bored or tired most of the time.
(calm, aloof) Uh… I'm Misa Okamura. I'm a dogsitter. I'm not sure how my job's relevant, I just like dogs.
(shaken up) Huh? …What… the hell is this? One person on the bed… and two more people on the floor? (pause) (unbothered) I guess I'll wake them up.
(genuinely confused) Are any of you actually murderous? Like, actually? Are we going through with this game? …Probably not.
Haoyu Kai is a chess player who often participates in chess tournaments in his city. He is responsible and calm as well as a natural born leader. He often takes initiative and is able to guide people very well. His emotions and reactions are almost always regulated, and he thinks logically and quickly in tough situations. As a result, he was very quickly designated as the leader of his peers at Wisteria Academy, and often organizes them when they get too rowdy.
VOICE DESCRIPTION:
Masculine mid-low or medium. Somewhat soft and firm at the same time. He sounds intelligent and pretty.
(stressed, but there is a hint of politeness) Hi, I'm Haoyu Kai. I'm a student. I'm also a chess player. And I'm not here to comply with the rules you give me, MonoHato.
(confused) Before I got here, the last thing I remember… is being at school. I’m not at my school right now. Our library looks nothing like this. Huh…
(determined) We're friends. Friends comply with each other, and complying here means not killing. I'll give it my all to make sure of that.
Konomi Suzuki is a student who works part-time as a ghostwriter as an attempt to get her life together.
She is very quiet and reserved, and it might take awhile for her to warm up to you. She tends to distance herself from people quite a bit, unless she is provided with no choice but to socialize. In Wisteria Academy, she spends most of her time alone or with the people she trusts.
VOICE DESCRIPTION
Mid or mid-low feminine. Speaks very softly and shyly.
(shy) Um… I'm Konomi Suzuki. I-I'm a ghostwriter. I write things. For people. Why… do you need to know?
(uneasy) I’m… sorry, u-uhmm… who are you, exactly? Who are.. all the others? I-I've been awake for a bit, and I still haven't been able to recognize anyone.
(nervous) H-Huh? But- I- we can't! We're too young! What about the people waiting for us outside?!
Azrael Kanasato is a photojournalist who specialises in events and riots. He is a relatively extroverted person, often being quite loud and obnoxious. He can also be a bit rude at times, but is generally a nice person. As a result, his stay at Wisteria Academy frequently includes him making snarky remarks and commentary on the activities and situations.
VOICE DESCRIPTION:
Somewhat deep, or mid-deep masculine. He drags out his words a little, and there is a slight raspiness to his voice.
(confident) Hey! I'm Azrael Kanasato! Or… uh… you can just call me Azzy. Whatever floats ya' boat! I'm A photojournalist! Pretty cool, huh?!
(drowsy) Can you be quiieet…? I'm tryna' sleep… (pause) (jolt) HEY! Wait- WHAT THE FUCK?!
(aggravated) Ugh! If I'm not back home in a day, I'm gonna beat the SHIT out of that bird! Much for 'no animal cruelty'… BUT HEY! THIS ONE'S DANGEROUS!
Miko Kanae is a graphic designer and general artist who takes website or photo design commissions for small amounts of money. Miko is usually kindhearted, often trying to look at the bright side of things and apologizes for extremely minor mistakes or even nothing at all. Despite this, Miko can be very emotionally intelligent. In Wisteria Academy, Miko tries to get everyone to get along with each other and have a positive mindset, causing her to have a lot of friends.
VOICE DESCRIPTION:
Mid-high feminine. Pretty energetic. Flowy and loud enough such that you would know of her presence. Needs great emotional range.
(excited) HEEEYYY!!! I'M MIKO KANAE!!!!!!!! I'm actually- um- CONFUSED! But! I think we'll do a great job at getting out of here! Don'tcha think?! We need to put out mind into it!
(calm) If you're harmless, then… (groan) Urghnn… whoever did this, they sedated me *good*… S-Sorry for freaking out!
(clearly distressed, but trying to mask it) A killing game…! Haha! Just… um… nothing weird about that! Nothing weird… at all…
(Last name pronounciation: Blan-shay!)
Kotaro Blanchet is an orchestra conductor who performs on stage with various groups. They are elegant and formal, always using more "big" words in their speech, trying their hardest to soothe the person they are talking to. This also causes them to be almost jumpy when it comes to keeping their peers as safe as possible. In Wisteria Academy, Kotaro attempts to be the pacifier of the group, ensuring their peers comfort.
VOICE DESCRIPTION:
Deep masculine. They sound very soothing and gentle, having a slightly professional tone. Please also have a high emotional range for this role.
(reassuring) My name is Kotaro Blanchet. I'm an orchestra conductor. Ahaha… I've always gotten stuck in introductions like these. I hope to get along with all of you!
(drowsy) A-Ah… (gentle) I was going to go back to sleep, but it seems someone else has woken up. Who might you be?
(uneasy, trying to hide it) U-Um… who's going to tell my family about where I am? I-I can't comply with any of this! I'm sorry!
Takemi Igarashi is a nail artist who works at a nail salon in Shibuya part-time. She is incredibly short-tempered and easily irritable, and always says what she thinks. She often yells when upset, and is very snarky and blunt. She angers her peers at Wisteria Academy quite frequently as she talks to them quite rudely, and is generally quite irate majority of the time.
VOICE DESCRIPTION:
Feminine medium or mid-low. Slightly rough and firm. Speaks with an upset and snarky tone. This role requires great emotional range, as well as quite a bit of yelling and/or screaming.
(annoyed) Um… Takemi Igarashi! I work at… a nail salon. Does that even count as talent? UGH! WHO CARES?! GET ME OUT OF HERE!!
(annoyed) …There's a door right there. Just open it. (pause) (angry) UUUURGH! STOP! YOU'RE PUTTING YOURSELVES IN DANGER! LEAVE THAT DAMN WALL BE!!!
(furious) ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?! YOU TRAP ME HERE WITH THESE *DUMBASSES* AND NOW YOU'RE SAYING THEY'RE A THREAT TO ME?! YOU'RE FUCKING INSANE!!
Miyuki Sakai is a lepidopterist student who mainly works at a butterfly sanctuary part-time as a researcher and preserver of butterflies. She's fairly hard-working and usually appears optimistic and smily, but in reality is quite more reserved and quiet. In Wisteria Academy, Miyuki is usually kept to herself and mostly watches from the sidelines, but gets along with most of the group.
VOICE DESCRPTION:
High or mid-high, preferably mid-high, soft feminine leaning voice. Speaks with little emotion, but usually sounds calm and sweet.
(polite) I'm Miyuki Sakai. I'm a… lepidopterist trainer. Student. Yeah! I have a part-time job in a butterly sanctuary, if that's anything. It's cool to see so many different talents here!
(drowsy) Oof, you guys are so loud. Hm… (confused) hey, what? Where am I? Huh?! Is this a kidnapping??
(worried) Don't get me wrong, I trust him in his leadership… but I'm just scared things might fall apart in a situation like this. Not everyone can keep themselves in control…!
Jasper Marapao Macalipay is a birthday party entertainer, mostly working at children's parties. He has a very optimistic personality, to the point where it can be considered overbearing and inappropriate, even if good intentions were behind it. He is expressive in the way he speaks, using body language to communicate as well. His goal in Wisteria Academy is to make sure everyone gets along well and to keep the mood up.
VOICE DESCRIPTION:
Masculine mid-high to high. Speaks in a cheery and happy tone.
(excited) Hello! The name's Jasper Marapao Macalipay! Aaaah, aaahh!! People! Jasper's so excited! He's so excited that he's forgetting his own occupation!!
(determined) H-Hey!! Guys! Panicking won't get us anywhere! Let's introduce ourselves! Jasper will start…
(worried, shaky) Hhaaa… Jasper's family… his loved ones… are waiting for him… And he can't do anything about it… what… does he do now…?!
Akari Kotonoha is a circus clown who does small gigs in performances and parties in her area, Hyogo. She tends to come off as silly and cocky at times, with a cheerful and somewhat confident tone in her speech. She tends to mostly stay on the sidelines of most things, and barely bores herself with tough work. In Wisteria Academy, Akari is always commentating on and trying to help with other's roles, despite her rare contributions to the group initially.
VOICE DESCRPTION:
High feminine. Could be raspy, but it is not necessary. Needs a high emotional range.
(silly) Akari Kotonoha! …Wait, we're doing jobs too?! Eh?! (being funny) HAH! Okay, guys. Guess my job. Cm'on. I dare you!
(confused) Kay, everyone. I want to make this clear. I'm fuckin' confused. Let's bust a hole in the wall!
(unimpressed, slightly out of character) Ugh… whatever. It's not like anyone's dying to see me out there. Better make the most out of… this.
Eiji Yamazaki is a medical student who also works at a small pharmacy in his area. He is irritable, blunt and moody, and isn't afraid to speak his mind and point out things that tick him off. He has a firm tone in his speech and he nearly never backs down from his ideals. But despite all of his hardened emotions, he is soft and tender if you find his right side. In Wisteria Academy, Eiji designates himself to the school's medbay, working hard to make sure nobody gets hurt during the game.
VOICE DESCRPTION:
Middle or mid-low soft masculine leaning voice. Speaks faster then normal, usually sounds a bit tired. This role needs a high emotional range.
(neutral) I'm Eiji Yamazaki. Yes, I'm a pharmacist. Yes, I'll be helping people here. Obviously. Anything else?
(impaitent) Where were you before waking up here? (pause) Cool. I was working too. (sigh) Thanks for the cooperation. We're getting nowhere.
(angry) This is so stupid! What does this *stupid* bird even gain from doing this?! This is so stupid… everything I go through is so stupid lately.
Tsukiko Kazunari is someone who has a knack for coming up with conspiracy theories, mainly about world problems. She is quite a playful and sweet person, often acting in a 'childish' manner and trying to see things in an optimistic light. Hence, this caused a few judgemental stares during her stay at Wisteria Academy. Yet, this does not bother her. She's too busy having fun, after all!
VOICE DESCRIPTION:
Mid or mid-high feminine. Talks quite playfully.
(cheery) Tsukiko Kazunari! I'm Tsukiko Kazunari! (curious) Hmm, anyone else named Tsukiko here?! I could see someone else being a Tsukiko! Wait- where was I?
(scared) Oh my god!! Are we going to get cooked and eaten?! IYAAAAHHH!! I'M TOO YOUNG!!
(sad) Huuuu……… I don't wanna die a gruesome death… not yeeeettt.…… I have so much to think about still……!!
Hajime Hatazawa is a part-time café worker who spends his free time partaking in geocaching. He is energetic and cheerful, and always tries his best to make people laugh and lift up the mood. He may come off as annoying sometimes, which troubles him frequently. He often makes an effort to be friends with his peers, which can be seen during his time at Wisteria Academy.
VOICE DESCRIPTION:
Androgynous medium or mid-high, with a masculine lean. He is often incredibly energetic, which should be shown in his voice. Despite this, he has a somewhat soft and gentle voice.
(excited) Is everyone saying their names and stuff?! Um, hi! I'm Hajime Hatazawa! I'm sorry about all of this, everyone! Let's try to overcome it together!
(calm) H-Hello! Who are you people…? (pause) Oh?!?! P-Please don't hurt me!! I'm only eighteen!!
(really afraid) Please, p-please don't tell me this game is actually real… I can't bear to see people get hurt…
Yumi Mikazuki is a student who participates in the handbell club in her school. She's very avoidant from majority of society, often being cold and blunt, cutting off conversations as fast as he possibly can. Yumi is also always on-edge, complaining about any inconvenience he comes across, even if they're minor. While she can be a nice person at times, he almost never shows that part of herself. In Wisteria Academy, Yumi never makes an effort to try to talk to people, making people usually have mixed opinions on him.
VOICE DESCRIPTION:
Mid-low soft androgynous voice with a slight feminine lean. While he's in a bad mood, her voice would get a lot louder and high pitched, with voice cracks appearing here and there. Needs great emotional range.
(irritated) …Mikazuki. Yumi Mikazuki. Handbell Player. I'm going now. Leave me alone…
(irritated) Where are we? I don't know, actually. (angry, yelling) GREAT!! Looks like some *asshole* kidnapped us! Right before I had a fucking rehearsal!
(mad, sounds tired) I don't care, I don't even care. Guess we're all gonna fucking die eighteen. I can't deal with anyone here anymore!
MonoHato is a lone bleeding heart dove. It is unknown where it came from, and it seems like its newfound home is the terrarium of the Wisteria Academy. It sounds nearly emotionless and cold, almost like it feels nothing for the students it has captured. Yet every time they all gather, the heart in its chest seems to bleed faster...
VOICE DESCRIPTION:
Feel free to use your imagination for MonoHato. It can sound like anyone. Just make sure its tone is naive and stoic.
(stoic) I am MonoHato. I am the headmaster of Wisteria Academy, and the host of your newfound killing game. Nice to meet you.
