Project Tyr - Casting Call B
Project Overview
Hey everyone! This casting call is for 11 more playable pilots in the upcoming strategic tank shooter, "Tyr".
Tyr is the debut project from Stoke Games, a team founded in 2023 and featuring an array of talented folks who have worked on games such as League of Legends, Valorant, Disney Infinity, Starcraft 2, MultiVersus, Hogwarts Legacy, Destiny, Call of Duty, and more. Voiceover for Tyr is being handled by the award-winning team at Power Up Audio (Darkest Dungeon, Subnautica: Below Zero, Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, Tunic, Celeste, Into the Breach, et al.).
Notes:
- This is a non-union project.
- All roles are in English.
- Submissions are online only.
- We expect each role to require 2 hours of recording time (with potential follow-up sessions down the line), and we're paying at least $250CAD/hr; negotiable with prior experience. (Note: no prior experience is required, but prior experience is certainly a plus.)
- Recording and direction will be done over Discord - as such, your submission should reflect the audio quality you are able to achieve in your recording space.
- All performers will be listed in the game's main credits.
- In the unlikely event that we may want to train these recordings on AI, that training will NOT be done without the performer's EXPLICIT permission.
- We will be waiting until the deadline to cast. You have until the deadline to submit auditions, but we will not be considering auditions submitted thereafter.
- After the deadline, and once this role is cast, we will be looking to record ASAP. (December/January likely.)
Game Brief:
TYR is a strategic multiplayer vehicle shooter. Players choose from an eclectic roster of pilots and their powerful vehicles (mainly tank-like) in 8v8 matches that prioritize teamwork and strategy over twitch reflexes.
Game Tone:
TYR takes place in a sci-fi world, but one that is tactile, grounded, and heavily engineered. Our characters are explorers, soldiers, and scientists - some are on Tyr to conquer, others to discover, but all of them take what they’re doing quite seriously. Though some of the characters might be a bit more “jokey” or “quippy,” each of them is in the cockpit of a massive war machine and acts accordingly. Their performances should feel connected to the idea that they are operating the controls of their machines and communicating with themselves and their teammates via radio comms, rather than speaking directly to the player.

- Please package auditions as a single audio file of a single read through the character’s lines. (Of course, feel free to edit this audition together as a showcase of your best single line reads.)

Full Name: Dr. Asteraceae Bex

Character Summary:
Dr. Asterious “Aster” Bex is a disgraced scientist working for the Umber Fist after her past experiments in teleportation destroyed an entire colony and vanished millions of lives to parts unknown. She wants the power of Tyr to try and undo her mistakes and find all those lost people - including her husband.
Even before she was ostracized, Aster was cold, calculating and dispassionate. Now after years of being labeled the “Researcher of Ruin” she’s completely walled off her heart - Anyone she faces in combat is simply a variable to be eliminated, and her teammates are just potential liabilities.

Performance Notes:
Aster has a voice that is as calculated and cold as she is. She very rarely loses her cool, even in the heat of combat. She is, however, still a very curious person at her core so her interest can occasionally be piqued by some new discovery or experiment.

Character Summary:
A genetically-engineered assassin born in a lab to be the perfect living weapon. Until recently under the control of a shadowy intergalactic organization, Atros ran away and ultimately offered his services to the Umber Fist. He sees the power of Tyr as the key to ultimate freedom.
Atros might seem surly and reclusive, but he’s secretly desperate for people to like him and think he’s cool. However, his fear of rejection means that he constantly pushes everyone away.

Performance Notes:
Atros is somewhere in his 20s (maybe 30s), but has had very little experience socializing, so he’s got a “muttering bad boy at the back of the classroom” quality to him.
That said, we still want to ensure audibility and intelligibility above all. The “muttering bad boy” is more about vibe, and less about literally muttering the lines. eg. If this were a theatre stage performance, we’d want his lines to be heard in the back row.

Name: Cooper Wu

Character Summary:
As an opportunistic smuggler working for whoever’s paying, wartime has been profitable for Cooper. At first, all he saw in Tyr and its powerful technology was just another chance to make some serious money… But he may have a change of conscience in him yet.
At some point in time, Cooper styled himself as a dashing rogue and decided to stick with it. Never remaining anywhere for long and with an easily-bought moral compass, he’s that scumbag you can’t help but love and wish would change.

Performance Notes:
Cooper is a charming devil-may-care thrill-seeker originally from Australia. In a different life he’d be leading adventure tours through the Outback.
Australian accent is ideal.

Character Summary:
Originally grown in a black market space station to be a living organ farm, Donor M-623 escaped and found a new life as a mercenary. He wants the power of Tyr to accomplish his dream of starting his own colony - a home for him and his fellow clones still back on the station.
Donor is consistently the biggest and most intimidating person in the room, and that’s the way he likes it. He’s constantly angry, and always looking for a reason to lash out. That said, he prefers to keep to himself so he’s not tempted to do things he may regret later.

Performance Notes:
Everything Donor says in his deep rumbling voice is tinged with disdain for whoever he’s talking to, or just the world at large. He usually speaks at low volumes, and people quickly learn that when he raises his voice someone is about to get hurt.
Donor has a stoic nobility about him, but there’s no denying that he’s from a rough background. We’re considering the possibility of a UK-based accent, but it’s not essential.
A good accent reference would be Nick Frost in “Into the Badlands”.

Name: Evrand Dale

Character Summary:
Evrand is a hunter and tracker from a peaceful forest moon colony that was burned to ashes as “collateral damage” in someone else’s war. But they should have checked to make sure he was dead before they left. His world’s sole survivor, he’s driven by a desire for revenge against both sides and wants the power of Tyr to help him burn them all down.
Evrand was raised to be peaceful and harmonious with the world around him, but he’s now fueled by anger and betrayal at the universe. Still, when he can find moments of peace, he’s a caring member of his team.

Performance Notes:
Evrand has a well-spoken, bard-like flair to how he speaks, even when he’s surly - like a poet masking his constantly simmering anger.

Character Summary:
Ikarus is a crack starfighter pilot who stumbled into a backwater colony and claimed to have amnesia after a crash. In truth, he’s actually a shamed deserter from the Umber Fist. He wants the power of Tyr to get as far away as possible before they find him again.
Ikarus rides the knife’s edge between “fearless” and “stupid”. He constantly gets in over his head and then rides the panic and adrenaline back out. The quintessential wild card, never securing complete trust from his teammates.

Performance Notes:
Ikarus has years of training and professional piloting under his belt. But he’s also a bit of a cocky meathead, which has a tendency to slip out in the heat of combat when he’s having a good time.

Character Summary:
Considering that Kwame is a Lunar Monk dedicated to spreading peace through the galaxy, no one would ever suspect that Kwame was once an elite soldier… or that he’s hiding deep doubts and questions about his faith, which he hopes the power of Tyr will help him answer.
Kwame is warm, friendly, and funny. He’s always ready to share in an embrace or laugh with his teammates. Push him too far in combat or threaten his friends, however… and a much darker Kwame will come out, all too ready to do some damage.

Performance Notes:
Kwame has a voice that is naturally booming and boisterous. But as a monk, he does his best to stay calm and level-headed.
Accent/Voice Notes: Would love something non-American for this to help convey his well-traveled status and mysterious origins, but it’s not essential.

Character Summary:
Lyra is an elite combat medic whose entire unit was wiped out while trying to defend her colony from alien forces. Everyone else in the colony - including her family - were abducted, but she intends to use the power of Tyr to track them down and get her revenge.
Lyra is intelligent and has a deep love for humanity that has been twisted by the horrors she has seen as a combat veteran. Even in the face of impossible odds she tries to put on a good face for her team (like any good doctor should), but she secretly worries that it’s all pointless.

Performance Notes:
Lyra is no-nonsense and, keeping in line with her medical training, always tries to stay professional and detached even in the face of danger. Occasionally though, her more playful, competitive side does slip through.

Character Summary:
Nova is a young inventor whose eco-scientist parents were assassinated by a warmongering fleet called the Umber Fist. Now a top weapons designer, she hopes that the power of Tyr could help her make a weapon to stop the Fist once and for all.
Nova is one of the smartest and most creative inventors of her generation, and she knows it. Driven by her mission of revenge, she’s cocky and loves a chance to show off - especially if she thinks it might intimidate her enemies.

Performance Notes:
Nova should exude cool, brash, cocky vibes while still remaining fiercely intelligent. She’s from the “New Renaissance” space station which is all made of highly intelligent researchers and geniuses so her voice should sound highly educated and refined. A non-American accent is welcomed, but not required.

Character Summary:
Vexa’s homeworld, The First Forest, is dying and their people need a new place to go. A race of conquerors, they have identified our solar system as being ideal territory and want the power of Tyr to help bring their people there en masse.
Despite being from a race of conquerors and warriors, Vexa has always been a more sensitive soul. They’re searching the galaxy for a new home, but always hoping in the back of their mind that maybe - just maybe - they won’t need to conquer sentient beings to get it.

Performance Notes:
Vexa’s whole vibe should be cute, but also spooky. They sound cute, but coming from a race of warrior plants means that they also frequently threaten violence as they speak in bizarre plant-related idioms.

Character Summary:
The pampered daughter of a politician, Yumiko has lived a sheltered life. But when she learns that her father and his colleagues keep the war going to make money, she vows to try and stop it herself. With the power of Tyr, she thinks she can make this vow a reality.
Thanks to her sheltered upbringing, Yumiko can be a bit naïve and entitled sometimes. But despite that, she’s got a good heart, a strong sense of justice, and an intense desire to use the hand she’s been dealt to help as many people as possible.

Performance Notes:
On the surface, Yumiko can come across as something of an airhead; she’s sweet, she doesn’t always seem to be taking things seriously, and she can get a bit overly emotional. But she’s also well-acquainted with ordering people around and isn’t afraid to bust out the perfect diction when she’s got her hackles up.
