Project Overview

Project Dark Maiden is an original audiobook written and produced by Stories By Dan and will be released on YouTube and potentially SoundCloud

I'm looking for Voice-Actors to voice the characters, adding more immersion to the story


PLOT

The story focuses on four girls, Timara, Chelsea, Yoko, and Iris, each sharing the same birthday and inheriting dark powers, becoming the next "Dark Maidens". The girls need to awaken their abilities and learn to use them before the destructive presence of "Overlord" is revived to once again battle the spirits of the Dark Maidens for the fate of the world.


Production

The first four "Chapters" and Trailer are intended to air in March of 2020 leaving February to submit voice-lines and edit the audio track. This will also be an ongoing project, I expect commitment from all cast actors, as your character may appear again at some point. If any one intends to leave the project, I require as much notice as possible as production is projected to take a month to produce four "chapters". Anyone cast will be required to produce lines and nothing further unless asked.


Requirements

  • This project handles mature themes, including slavery and abuse. The project will also contain cursing which I don't plan on censoring. Due to this, I will only be accepting actors 16 Years or older. Exceptions may be made, but not guaranteed.
  • Good sounding microphone. I'm not asking for top quality, but minimal background noise and clear audio is an absolute must
  • Reliable Contact. I need a means of contacting you outside of CastingCallClub. Discord is easier for communications however I would like to also be able to contact you via email for line submission and if you don't have discord, I understand not everyone does (Please do not provide these details in your audition or you will be immediately cut, as you have failed to read and follow my instructions)
  • Commitment. As this is the first Casting Call, I will be casting most of my ongoing characters. Auditions will be labeled as such and if you are cast, expect to do more work with me on "Project Dark Maiden"
  • No leaks. Whilst I cannot legally enforce this one, please keep project details to yourself, anyone caught leaking details will immediately be removed from the project. I cannot predict what level of attention the project will attain, but I do wish to be prepared.

  • Almost there, what to expect

    Hey all! As you know, we are nearing the deadline! Yay! You have all done so well, your submissions are amazing! But this is a serious project so here comes the seriousness. When the deadline ticks over, I'll begin the process of shortlisting who I may or may not like to cast. If I add you to my shortlist, I will be messaging you through CastingCallClub so keep your inboxes open! If I do end up casting you, I will be giving you the following: Your Lines: This one is obvious but I will be supplying you with PDF of your specific lines. They will include direction A copy of the chapter: I will be supplying all actors with a PDF copy of their specific chapter. This will be for enjoyment purposes and to help further understand your lines within the story. Contact Info: I will be giving you my contact details, I expect the same from those cast for a smooth transition. I am looking into setting up a discord server for those who are interested in communicating on that platform. Now I will state this again, I'll be sending documents as a PDF format. If this does not work for you, please let me know during shortlisting so that I may accommodate for you.   • Potential Deadline Extension

    Hi all! As you're aware, the deadline is approaching fast, and let me say, I've been blown away by the auditions I've gotten so far, however I feel that as this time, I cannot complete casting for the first chapters at this current time. If I can get a few more auditions before the deadline, I will begin the casting process, if not, then I will be extending the deadline by one week. This will not affect overall production, however it means I will be slightly more demanding for the first month of production. If you wanna ensure that we complete casting sooner, then spread this Casting Call around.     Hey all, recently it was brought to my attention that the audition line for "Tall Girl (Tori)" were not properly present and had "Maria's" lines and directions listed instead. This has now been corrected with the proper lines and directions. Deepest apologies for any confusion. I have checked the others, no issues were found. Hopefully this won't happen again

Timara is one of the Four Dark Maidens, The Maiden of Compassion.

Timara is a girl truly mad at the world and has renounced love and compassion for all people and things, except for herself. She's typically an aggressive girl towards people and often yells at them, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have her quiet moments, which will be seen in a second chapter, so be ready for that.

I'm looking for a voice that can portray her hatred for people, whilst also been able to show her vulnerable side. I would prefer a lower voice, but I am open to any interpretations.

  • (Shouting to yourself as your write in your diary)

    People suck! **Pause** They really suck! I don’t understand how I’m supposed to live along-side them. Everyday, they do stupid things and claim they love eachother? Ugh!

Chelsea is one of the Four Dark Maidens, The Maiden of Choice

Chelsea is a poor girl born into slavery, she doesn't know life outside of been a slave except for what people have told her, whether it be other slaves, or her Masters and Mistresses. Because of this, her view on the world is very different, she doesn't even know her own name, and she believes her life doesn't belong to her among other things. She's one of the last Maidens to discover her powers because of this.

Chelsea should have a quiet, weak voice, due to never actually speaking a lot in her life, and always been scared of her masters.

Chelsea also has the most lines in the entire project as all of her chapters are narrated in the first person, so if you are cast, you will be narrating entire chapters on top of your lines

  • (You're recounting your life, starting at the beginning)

    I don’t remember the exact day my life changed that way, but I do remember what led up to it. I woke like any other day, covered in cuts and bruises, aches and pains everywhere.

    My owners liked harming me. Some were better than others. My most favorite was a slap in the face or a smack on the butt, they hurt the least

Yoko is one of the Four Dark Maidens, The Maiden of Creation.

Yoko is a truly destructive girl. If there's anything that needs to be destroyed, shes your gall. Yoko defines herself by her ability to destroy, despite the fact she was almost one of the first maidens to awaken when she was younger, but fell short during an incident, leaving her magically powerless. Shes a very empowered girl and loves being independent doing whatever it takes to get what she wants.

Her voice should be very cheerful and loud, she often laughs a lot which you will be required to do a lot in the early stages. Preferably I'd like something akin to Satone Shichimiya  from Love, Chuunibyou and Other Delusions English Dub or Miu from Danganronpa V3 but I am open to interpretation so impress me.

Iris is one of the Four Dark Maidens, The Maiden of Wisdom.

Iris is a character who isn't that smart, meaning she's as dumb as a rock. Shes typically messy and generally care free. She can easily lose focus and is quick to assume anything, especially if the situation doesn't demand it. She loves to fan-girl over things and tease her twin sister Matilda, who comes to envy her. She can however be easily embarrassed 

Iris is a fast talker, often running out of breath when spouting non-sense. her voice should have a high-pitch to match her care-free nature, but not to the point where its over bearing. A good comparison would be Pinkie Pie from MLP:FIM, but as always, open to interpretation.

Matilda is the twin sister of Iris

Matilda is secretly a lesbian

Matilda is the elder twin sister of Iris and possess no traces of Dark Maiden abilities. She doesn't have much care towards her younger sister and worries more about their fathers opinion. She begins to grow closer to Iris in a second chapter, but later begins to envy Iris for her abilities, even more so when she learns that all the maidens share the same birthday. She's not as important but will most likely appear more as the story progresses.

I want her voice to be similar to that of Iris but also lower and not as fast, showing they are related but aren't the same person. If you audition for Iris, I may cast you as Matilda as well, after discussions first, however, that is circumstantial and if do not wish to play both characters, that is fine.

Maria is the mother of Chelsea and the maid of Iris' family

Maria was made a slave when she was younger, and during her service, found herself giving birth to Chelsea and was forced to raise her to also be a slave, but chose to hide the fact she was her mother out of shame for letting her Daughter also become a slave. A few years after they were separated, she began working for the Misaki Family, where she helped care for Iris, another Dark Maiden.

Maria is a middle-aged woman, and should have a voice to reflect this. She's in her early 30's due to been a teen-mother

Tori is your typical mean girl, but only towards Timara. They have a deep hatred for one another and will go to many ends to fight.

I want her to have a typical mean-girl voice but will settle for others.
