Prof. Layton and the Curious Fandub, second casting call
Project Overview
Embark on a journey into the secretive town of St. Mystere with the puzzle-solving Professor Layton, and his apprentice Luke. Uncover the mysteries that make this small hamlet tick as the search for the Golden Apple, a mysterious inheritance, unravels.
Together, we will provide voice acting for the main storyline of the first professor Layton game, to be uploaded on YouTube in episodes that cover one chapter at a time. This project was made for myself and other newer voice actors to gain practical experience, so feel free to audition for one or multiple roles.
Some Requirements:
While I do not expect studio quality audio, please make sure there is no background noise present and the audio quality is decent.
If you want to do multiple takes, do 2-3 takes maximum and make sure they are in AABBCC format. I recommend to only submit multiple takes when they are distinct in some way (whether that is the voice used or delivery).
Include your Discord username when submitting your audition, future contact will be mainly through Discord.
Some further notes:
Do not be afraid to create eccentric voices, a number of characters in universe are somewhat animated and should have a sound that fits their eccentric personality.
The game is set in England, so a good English accent (of any variety) may fit well in the setting. Other accents are not excluded, but may only fit for certain characters.
Spoiler: Most characters in the village turn out to be very lifelike robots designed to challenge anyone seeking the Golden Apple. While they should NOT sound as robots, it is useful to take into account that challenging those searching for the Golden Apple is the motivation for many of these characters. Some notable exceptions to this rule are Professor Layton, Luke, Flora, Bruno, and Don Paolo.

Daughter of Baron Reinhold and heiress to the Reinhold family fortune, Flora plays a significant role in the story of the Curious Village. While Baron Reinhold created the mystery around St. Mystere, Flora is his entire motivation.
She is a sweet but curious child. While her actual age is unknown I would say she is around 14 years old.
Saddened by the death of her parents, she continues to live in the town created by her father. Her voice should be that of a young teenage girl. While she has been raised rich, her accent should not be too posh.
Be prepared for some more emotional scenes toward the end of the game when she hears a recording of her father's wishes for her.

My name is Flora... I've been waiting here in the tower for so long.
That voice! Papa, is that you?!
I want St. Mystere, my village, to stay just as it is...forever.
Bruno is one of the key characters in the story of the game. This engineer was an old friend of Baron Reinhold. He feels he owes a great debt to the Baron and has found new purpose in serving him by making a number of robots. After first constructing a robot butler and later a replica of the Baron's late wife, he eventually sets himself to building an entire village of robots to create a safe environment for Flora, the daughter of the Baron. His goal is to protect Flora as instructed by the Baron. He takes great pride in his work.
I'm looking for an older but not unkind voice for him.

(note from Bruno that is found) The boss complimented my latest model today. He's a good guy, and he's given me a great sense of purpose. I'm sure this is my true calling.
You two again! What are you doing here?! What are you up to?!
He had me built this city and all who dwell in it to prepare for that day.
Though Baron Augustus Reinhold has already passed during the events of the game, he is one of the most influential character in the story. His main motivation is to protect for and care for his daughter, especially after the passing of his wife. In order to do this he has built a small town in which the villagers are all robots that are instructed to protect Flora. He has done this with the help of Bruno, the engineer. Voice lines for this character are in the form of notebook pages and a recording and depict a Baron Reinhold that is nearing the end of his life. In these notes he is pensive and mostly thinking about the future of his child. As these are some of the most emotional lines in the game, they should be treated as such.
I want a voice that reflects an older man who is weakened somewhat by sickness. He should have a somewhat posh accent but the voice should also be warm and caring.

(referring to his late wife) Violet…there can never be another you. You were my first, my last, and my only.
I can only hope that when I am gone, the people of the village look after Flora and care for her as I did…
I've left everything in Bruno's care now. Flora, I pray you find happiness in this life.
An older resident of St. Mystere. This minor character calls himself a penny-pincher and tends to be somewhat forgetful, often losing items around town. I am looking for an older sounding voice that can sound a bit confused at times.

I've become quite a penny-pincher. Don't suppose you'd mind advising me on a tiny money matter, would you?
See, I always seem to be losing things nowadays, and replacing them gets mighty expensive.
My, what a sharp fellow you are.
Yet another resident of St. Mystere. This minor character finds himself to be a "detective" of sorts, yet provides very little useful information to our main characters. Based on his looks and manner of speaking, a French accent may suit this character well.

Yes, it's just as I suspected. I can tell from here, sir. You have something you want to ask me, no?
So what do you say? Help a fellow detective out, will you, brother?
My detective's instinct tells me that another case is developing as we speak.
This young lady that lives in St. Mystere is generally a rude individual who enjoys withholding information and mocking others. While Professor Layton usually stays very calm and composed, she is the only individual to get a rise out of him.

(interrupting someone's question) Sorry, can't help you. And by "can't", I mean "don't want to."
I've barely even talked to Ramon, and I am SO not interested in this search. Hee hee hee hee!
Y'know, I've heard that if you aren't careful walking around St. Mystere at night, you can run into trouble.
The owner of the café in St. Mystere. Given his role in the village he is well informed on village gossip and can thus provide useful information. He speaks in a rather straightforward manner and doesn't really like outsiders.

Ho there! I've never seen your mug in here before. What'll it be, pal?
Hmm. You're not from here, are you?
Of course if you're a puzzle lover, then maybe, just maybe, I could find it in me to trust you.
This recurring character in the Professor Layton series has the uncanny ability to collect puzzles that are overlooked by the main characters, allowing the player to complete them anyway. She likes praising herself and her abilities but is generally a kind and helpful individual. She should have an older sounding voice with a bit of a flair for the dramatic.

Yes, you are gazing at the beautiful and clairvoyant Granny Riddleton, guide to the puzzled puzzlers!
Pshaw! Any fortune-teller can do that. So what if you can see a few days into the future? Big whoop!
Ehee hee! It looks like you've finally figured out what makes me so amazing, boy.
Prosciutto is a minor character in the game. This village resident is known for having the appetite of a wolverine in spite of his size. He is usually stuffing his face while talking, as evident in his voice lines. He seems impatient to get back to eating more, but is kind enough to provide a description of the kidnapper regardless.

Ah, OK… Chomp omnomnom… I think it was something like four days ago.
Up close, it was some spooky old guy with a huge--gobblesnarf--sack. Chomp nomnom.
I think that weirdo is the one who's been kidnapping people.
This older resident of town has a fondness of puzzles, specifically those about cards. She also tends to overtly flirt with Layton, even with a small child present. Her voice lines also indicate she has a lisp.

Hyeh heh heh! Oh me oh my! It'sh not every day I see a handsome buck around theshe partsh.
I'm Martha, and I jusht LOVE cardsh. Eshpecially puzzles that use cardsh. Ooh, those are my favoritesh!
Hyeh heh heh! I've got a new puzzle for you, dearie.
While Giuseppe, the town butcher, may look like a gruff individual, he is actually a kind and helpful person. He has a habit of making meat-related puns during conversation, which he himself finds incredibly funny.

What?! This fancy vase DOESN'T belong to you? So why'd that guy tell me to give this to you?
Well my hat has a way of obscuring certain details from me. It's the "wurst", I tell you! Har har!
By the way, you sure you don't want to bring some fresh sausage home with you?
Rodney works at the St. Mystere town hall and is an unhelpful and rude individual. For his voice, I imagine he is someone that would often say "Well, actually..." when he is not even a part of the conversation.

What's that you say? The gate to the park is locked shut?
No, no, no, that's impossible. We've employed a caretaker who should have everything up and running.
Now unless you have some form you need to fill out, I strongly advise you to beat it.
Pavel is a recurring character in the first trilogy of professor Layton games. He is possibly the worst and quirkiest adventurer in the world, though he does end up in places that our main characters struggle to get to. While he speaks mainly English, he tends to use a lot of words and expressions from other languages such as French, German, and Russian.

No. I am an explorer of El Mundo. Right now, I am trying to familiarize myself with the local culture.
Oh! Wait for one momento, S'il vous plait.
I just arrived here after years of world travel! Je ne sais pas the local geographie here, that's all!
Sylvain is another resident of town. He once maintained the park of St. Mystere, but eventually closed it due to the lack of visitors. Our main characters find him in the sewers, which he also maintains.
The way he speak implies that his accent is a little less refined.

Well, how could I refuse two curious lads such as yourselves?
Funny you should mention that. If I could just figure out the area on this map, I'd be done in a jiff.
Ha ha ha! I hardly need thanking, sir. After all, this is me job.
