Princess Tutu: Chapter of the Bird episode previews

Project Overview

Princess Tutu is a cult classic anime from the early 2000s about a duck who turns into a magical ballerina to gather the shattered shards of a prince's heart. Chapter of the Bird is a fanfiction continuation that was completed in 2016. The fanfiction is available to read online here.

As it was formatted like the original anime, there are previews of each following chapter aka "episode" of characters' quotes from the corresponding chapter. I put together a visualization of these previews using artwork I drew and edited from an online dollmaker with permission of the original creator (link to dollmaker in video description).

While I've finished the video, it lacks voices, so this project is an attempt to give voices to this video, while also giving it a few cosmetic updates! While it would be great if you sounded similar to the original dub, I'm looking for good performances and character fit most of all. Some characters I might actually want something different from the original, so feel free to interpret differently!

As I'm basing the script off the official dub, which translated a number of character names such as Ahiru to Duck, I have some characters who are known originally by another name; those are in parentheses.

  • Roles partially cast!

    I've gone through and cast the characters I'm able to cast at this time! If the role is open and you submitted an audition for them, I haven't necessarily eliminated you from consideration; some roles I have received very few auds for or else I want more auds for some crucial roles. I'm going to post a new aud page for the roles I still need, but I want to get in contact with the current cast first and make sure they're still on board (it's been a while since some of them auditioned).

    Thanks so much for all the auditions, everyone! It took me a while to decide on some of the roles, so nice job all around.

  • Currently deliberating!

    The deadline is past, so I'm going through auditions and seeing who I'd like to cast. I anticipate some roles will not be able to be filled yet, so even when this audition is done, I'll likely be posting a new audition with the uncast roles to try to get them filled. In the meantime, hang tight!

    As a note, even if the role only consists of the audition lines, I'll likely need to re-record them for the actual video due to timing and length, so be prepared for that if you're cast.
