Papers Please Abridged Series
Project Overview
Introduction:
Welcome to the casting call for the Papers Please Abridged Series.
I am KFCMan of The Seagull Studios the creator of the series. After many weeks of scripting and writing all the episodes I can release this casting call! I hope all of you would like to audition, it would mean a lot to me! We've already created an Abridged Series on Sonic Colours so if you want to familiarise yourself with this style of writing you can check it out here.
What is the Papers Please Abridged series?
The Papers please abridged series is a 7 episode abridged series on the game Papers Please. An abridged series is a comedic parody of a show or a game that shortens it's story and fandubs the characters.
The Papers Please Abridged series follows the main plotline of ending 19 in Papers Please. An Inspector has been hired at Grestin Border checkpoint, they must stamp passports to either allow or deny people entry into Arstotzka. Many events and occurrences happen across the 31 days the Inspector is at his position. The Inspector involves himself in activities surrounding the Order of the Ezic star, and the plan to take down Arstotzka arises.
Voice Actor Rules and Requirements
1. Please be over the age of 16 as that is the age rating for Papers Please. Also all the speaking characters are adult.
2. Please have decent microphone quality. You don't need to have the cream of the crop, however please don't bring a potato mic. A clear microphone with little to no background noise will be enough.
3. While auditioning, please try to do multiple takes of the same line with different expressions. 3 takes per box should do.
4. Communication will largely take place through discord and CCC.
Extra Notes:
This projects contains Strong language. If you are upset by common swears I'd advise you don't audition for this project.
Please don't audition with a Forced Russian accent to the point where it starts to sound unnatural with the lines.
If you audition for a lead/supporting role and don't get the part, don't sweat it. You can still be a part of the project as an extra During the casting phase I will be messaging those who didn't make the cut on CCC about whether or not they would like to be an Extra

Casting call closed (casting phase)
Heya everyone! First off I wanna thank all of you for showing interest in this project and auditioning. The deadline has passed so unfortunately I won't be accepting anymore auditions :( Casting will take a few days, Good luck everyone!! And have a great day.
In the actual game: The Inspector is the player character who works as an immigration inspector for the Ministry of Admission of Arstotzka.
His portrayal in the Abridged Series: The Inspector simply does not care about most things around him. He hates his job, he especially hates his supervisor Dimitri, and he hates most people coming in and out the border. The Inspector frequently tries to get out of work, and often takes bribes and finds the easy solution to most problems he faces. The Abridged Series is structured through a diary the Inspector kept of his month working at the border "You guessed it we're diary of a wimpy kidding up this shit, I've got a book full of notes with all the wacky antics that happened at Grestin Border checkpoint. " So quite a few of his lines are narration.
(Narration) Day 5, yes day 5 I can't be asked to keep documenting every day. I have quickly grasped that working here at Grestin Border Checkpoint is incredibly unsafe. Entrants are aggravated, terrorist attacks are probable, and every morning my shift is greeted with the same goddamn asshole.
(Panicking) RED ALERT RED ALERT! IF THE WIFE SEES THIS I'M MORE THAN DEAD! HELP ME! DAMN IT VONEL!!
Alright come on in you impatient prick.
Awesome, I don't care... your papers please.
In the actual game: M. Vonel is a government special investigator under East Grestin Division working for the Office of Investigation under the Ministry of Information.
His portrayal in the Abridged Series: M. Vonel is a very emotional fellow. Easily upset, easily angered and horribly unprofessional. This man hates his job and is terrified of Dimitri. Vonel changes mood every nanosecond and is easily manipulated.
(Frustrated) For fuck sake, here I am crafting an excellent speech to welcome you to your new job and you're just here ruining it! I was going to make it all spooky and mysterious to give it much more impact, but noooo!! You can't have nice things Vonel, fucking stupid dumbass stupid fucking-
I- uh... (chuckles) Well uh, thank you. (pause) Can I take your number?
(traumatised) Have you seen that phone? Have you?? Every day that phone rings, and every day I pick up the phone. And then he- (phone rings)
(crying) IT'S RINGING AGAIN!!!
In the actual game: Dimitri is the Ministry of Admission divisional authority of East Grestin operations and the supervisor of the Inspector. He visits the checkpoint every 10 days to evaluate the Inspectors work at the border.
His portrayal in the Abridged Series: Dimitri's role is largely the same however his character is much more of an asshole and terrifying. Dimitri doesn't take shit from anyone and loves to yell. This character yells throughout most of his lines so hooo boy prepare them vocal chords.
I beg your pardon!? I'm Dimitri your boss so listen here you slimy prick you better be on your best behaviour.
Inspector! I must say I'm impressed... HOW THE FUCK HAVE YOU LET TERRORISTS ATTACK WITHIN 4 GODDAMN DAYS OF OPENING!?
YOU WANT MORE GUARDS!!? I'LL GIVE YOU MORE FUCKING GUARDS, HERE'S A GUARD AND THERE'S A GUARD AND THERE'S ANOTHER GUARD!! THERE! YOU GET YOUR FUCKING GUARDS NOW THERE'S NO MORE EXCUSES!
In the actual game: Jorji Costava is a male entrant who appears several times attemping to cross the border. He claims that he has "business" in Arstotzka. The Inspector forms a friendship with Jorji and Jorji helps the Inspector flee Arstotzka.
His portrayal in the Abridged Series: Jorji's character is largely the same in the series. He's friendly and often messes up the entrée requirements to Arstotzka.
I don't have any papers! I don't need them right?
Oh... oh ok, don't worry then I'll go and get them.
Hey hey hey!! I waited for the NEXT this time, took a while to open though eh?
GLORY GREATEST! Thank you so much Inspector! GLORY TO ARSTOT- wait what?
In the actual game: Calensk is an Arstotzkan guard who comes to the Inspector complaining about his payment. He also makes a deal with the Inspector giving him 5 credits for every 2 people they detain.
His portrayal in the Abridged Series: Calensk is still an Arstotskan guard at the border for most of the only series but is also elected to give the Inspector therapy sessions, despite not even being a qualified therapist. Calensk is a nice guy and gets on well with the Inspector.
Sorry, my ear is still ringing from my phone call with Dimitri, I'm a guard here at the checkpoint, honestly a shittier job than you have here, it's a hellhole out there. Anyway Dimitri asked me to provide you with some therapy.
Thanks heh, well uh. I'll be out the front, if you need anything just come find me. I'll try and help out I guess... if the terrorists don't kill me.
It's the next day Inspector, you're in deep shit. Hooo boy, you wanna start booking those therapy sessions?
In the Abridged Series Sergiu Volda appears at first to be a flirtatious player, but in reality he is incredibly committed to his lover Elisa who now thanks to the war he is barely able to visit. Sergiu's not focussed on his job as a guard at the border his mind is constantly worrying about Elisa and his performance lacks because of that, the Inspector and Calensk try their best to protect him both from terrorists, and Dimitri's endless shouting.
(Flirty) Hooo boy, is it me Inspector or is it a little hot in this booth. You know what I mean?
Yea you're right the air conditioning's off...
ELISA!!! YOU'RE ALIVE!! I THOUGHT I'D NEVER SEE YOU AGAIN!
I'm sorry Inspector, Calensk... it should have been me getting the assblasting from Dimitri.
Can be Male or Female!
The EZIC messenger is basically the same as in the game except a little more talkative, they unknown and mysterious. Always showing up to relay information to the Inspector about the EZIC tasks and updates on their plans.
The order rises.
What? No, no we're not terrorists. Think of star wars right, holy shit it released 5 years ago, *ahem* anyway, so you know there's the galactic empire, that's Arstotzka currently, and the EZIC are the rebels.
Good luck agent, don't let us down
Multiple Pink vice ladies all with the same voice. These are entrants who are forced to work for human trafficker Dari Ludum. They reach out to the Inspector for help early on in the series.
You're the only one who can help. There's a man in line today. His name is Dari Ludum. Picture a middle aged discord moderator, that's him.
Hiya handsome! .... Woah woah calm your ass down! I'm only doing my job.
What are these roles?
These are all the unnamed entrants, terrorists and some minor special characters too (dari ludum, shaddy safadi, EZIC agents ect.) A variety of both male and female voices are needed and basically most people who audition for these will get a role, (there are a lot of extras in the series) You are not required to perform all 3 lines to audition for this role.
Note: These roles are just as important as the lead and support roles. Without them, there wouldn't be an abridged series. Requirements about Mic's are more lenient here.
You think you're all cool with that false sense of authority, little do you know the influence and wealth I have here in Arstotzka is beyond your imagination.
This checkpoint looks like a dystopian shitshow. Glory to my asshole I wish I didn't live here
Fuck off! This is why there's no hope left in Arstotzka, narcissistic sarcastic brats like you ruin this place. Arstotzka needs to burn, it needs to rot in the steaming depths of hell. This stupid godforsaken excuse for a city needs to be wiped from the map completely, and then! Only then! This world may be a better place.
