To commemorate the release of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door's 20 year anniversary, we thought it fit as a group of fans to host a fandub faithfully capturing the magic of this game that has touched so many hearts... through voice!
This dub will be released in the form of an unmonetised video series on YouTube, covering the game start to finish!
There may be the possibility of some comic dubs, shitposts and general goofy side-content too, so stay tuned, citizens of Rogueport! 👀
This project is purely for fun, and expressing our love for this game we adore. I hope you all have fun auditioing, and do your best!
RULES:
•Please have decent quality audio with minimal background noise, peaking, clipping etc.
•Audio files can be submitted via our discord (linked below) or through here!
•There isn't a need to attach a demo to your audition.
•Please submit files in either mp3 or wav. No other types will be considered.
•Double castings are not off the table, so be prepared!
•Keep in mind that the major characters not listed have already been casted for already.
•People submitting auditions under the age of 16 will not be considered.

Madame Flurrie is a noble, haughty woman from the Boggly Woods. She has a love for cute things and packs a mean punch!
She should sound medium-low, with considerable emphasis on her haughty nature and elegant speech.
(Reserved, then Ambitious) "But...I suppose if I stay here too long, I'll begin to crave and hustle before long! Oh! Oh, my! It's happening even as I speak! Already I feel the need for drama! That moment of exhilaration when the spotlight shines down on the stage...on me! Surely I was born to be...an actress for the ages!"
(Demanding) "What's that? DO speak up! You! Whoever just spoke! Do you have some clue as to my necklace's whereabouts? If you do, you must help me! Please! Be a dear! Find it and bring it back to me! If you could, then I'd be delighted to help my squishy little friend, Punio!"
(Boastful, Angry) "Honestly, did you REALLY think we'd let a wretch like you escape? I do believe you'll be handing over that Crystal Star and promptly exiting this tree!"
This baby Yoshi is a high-energy bruiser, despite their appearance!
High ranges are recomended, but feel free to put your own spin on them! Don't feel the need to do any kind of Yoshi impression either, get creative!
"Yeah, but who cares? You guys wanna be champs, right? You want a crystal star? I heard about it all while i was in the egg! Yeah! Anyway, I gotta repay you for saving me from old hoggie out there, so I'll fight for you!"

This seductive, yet crafty mouse will steal your valuables first... then, your heart! ♡
A plucky, playful, flirtatious voice is what we're looking for here. Any range is reccomended!
"Me? Why, I'm Ms. Mowz, the globe-trotting thief! Heard of me, sweetie?"
"Hush. All you need to know is I've taken what i needed and now I'll be on my way. As for the rest... help yourself to what you like."

A hugely powerful figure in the Roguesport mafia, known for running the town with his dirty money. However, deep down, he has an intense love for his daughter.
The Don speaks with a New York mafioso accent in-game, and thats what we want here! Let loose and get wild with it if you're skilled at that accent!
"(Deflated) What's wid you, wise guy? I ain't too jolly today, if you got a beef, spit it out quick or dis is gonna hurt."
"HEY! HEY! You two nimrods! Da kids are at da harbor! NOW GO GET 'EM!"
"(Muted happiness) Who knew..? Dat guy's got her smilin' from ear to ear! She's... happy. Dat's good."
An old bob-omb admiral in his twilight years, burdened by his past. His love for his wife drives him to change, and to save the world.
A low, gravely, soldier's voice is what we envision for Bobbery. Make his sad determination palpable.
"(Reflective) Time... like love, is a tide. You are one with the sea, as you were one with me.... (close to tears) A-A thousand pardons... but may I have a moment alone, if you please...?"
"Yes, love... I WAS happy... My sweet, sweet scarlette... I love you still."
"(Ordering) Just leave it to me! I'll keep these ghouls busy while you get out of here! FLEE! THAT'S AN ORDER! LET ME DO WHAT I MUST DO!"
The Big baddie of the game, the menacing Sir Grodus should deliver his lines with a terrifying aura of malice. Any tone can work! Just focus on his menacing nature. Play around with the fry on your voice!
And yes, "GAAACK ACK ACK ACK" is his laughter. Have fun~
"(Cunning, then panicked) Hmmmm.... disturbing. This Mario Character... what kind of- Speak up, X-Naut! What is the status of the other crystal stars?!"
"Urgh... This mustachioed menace has nearly every crystal star now! They were MINE! ...I think I'd alter my plan a bit..."
"GAAAACK ACK ACK ACK! With the power of the demon, I will rule this pathetic world... NOW! ARISE! ARIISE, MY SHADOW QUEEN!!"
A notorious witch of the Koopa Troop, she's quite cunning and strategic, and her voice should reflect this. Think an old witch from a cartoon, old, croaky... yet sassy.
"Please, your grumpiness! Don't be so impatient with your poor servant..."
"I'm afraid we don't have that information quite yet... the investigation is still ongoing. One thing is most certainly confirmed, however: The princess has been kidnapped."
"Mweh heh heh heh heh! My lord! You're so SUPER!"
A quirky fellow, Doopliss operates under a very limited moral compass. He should be higher pitched, emotional, SO SO SASSY and READY TO SCREAM. This will be a high intensify performance, so bring your A-game!
"Hey, what's up slick?! *Giggle* Been waiting for you..."
"IT'S ME, SUCKERS! DOOPLISS! Beldam's plan to gooify Mario didn't exactly work, so I'll be cutting and running now. SEE YA, SUCKERS!"
"All right, kids, put on your fighting gloves! Uh... (Bad Mario impression) W-Woo hoo! It's-a me!"
The King of the Koopas himself! Bowser needs strength, command, and POWER behind his perfomance. Do your best to give him a deep, vile, grumbly voice!
...Taking inspiration from Jack Black's Bowser is not off the table either.
"(Baffled, annoyed) Pfffft! Am I Mario's Baby-sitter? I don't care what he's doing! Are you going to call me every time that guy blows his nose or what?! Sheesh!"
"(Lovey-dovey) I've found you my princess! I, Bowser, the mighty Koopa King, offer my greeting!"
"Both Princess Peach and the crystal stars belong to me! TO MEEEE!! If i find him, I'm going to finish him off once and for all! I SWEAR IT!"
The (alleged) most beautiful of the villainous Shadow Sirens! Beldam should be loud, mean, croaky and witchy in tone. But also feel free to get a lil creative with her! Just make sure that horrible, witchy croak is there.
"Let's go my lovelies! Marilyn, Vivian! Come! (Wicked, Cunning) We've... got a job to do..."
"I don't see THREE beauties! I see two, but then there's you, and you're PLUG UGLY!"
"Mweee heee heeee... Yes... This time we'll take that Mario and get his map!"
High pitched and feminine to the max, Koopie Koo is Koops's girlfriend, who is super protective of him. Bring a wildly varied range to her, and remember to keep that high pitch all the while!
"Koops... my sweet... I'll be right here waiting. For you... to prove yourself."
"(Anxious) Koops... I THOUGHT I heard you say you're off to fight Hooktail... but... you're joking, right?! I mean... you're not exactly a powerhouse..."
"(Yelling, upset) F-FINE! IGNORE ME! STUPID KOOPA!!"
Punio is a young, yet brave puni from the Boggly Woods. He should be high pitched, perhaps a little androgynous, but absolutely ready to emote and adapt to emotional changes.
"(In danger) Nooooo! Leave me alone, you big meanies...!"
"That's what I was telling you about. That's where we Punies live. That's home. Uh... of course, it's not just us in the tree. (Worried suddenly) Lots of Jabbies and Piders too..."
"Finally, SOMEBODY shows up! What are you doing hiding back there? Come out, for pete's sake! I found us a powerful ally!"
A jovial and eccentric captain of the seas! Flavio should have your best pirate tone, but with a lot of whimsy. Experiment with tones and do him justice!
I envision him with a scottish accent too, so bonus points if you manage to nail that!
"Money, you say, eh? Yes. There is nothing like a grapefruit covered in... (Realisation) AH! NOOOO! FOOLISH FLAVIO! Not HONEY, You silly man! What he meant was MONEY!"
"(Panicking) Oh... ghostly ooh-ing... thing... Are you... really... the savage Pirate King...?!"
"Very well! To the sea! Raise anchor and set sails for thrills and emotion! And ROMANCE! AND MONEY? Our destination is Keyhaul Key!!"
Grubba is someone who hides a lot of secrets, but he appears to care deeply for his fighters... right?
Grubba should have a thick southern American accent, with a higher pitch. Get loose and have fun with him!
"HOO-WEEEE! Champ! That was a Grade-A whuppin'! Yer thoughts on the match?"
"(Announcer-tone) We got ourselves a winner!! THE GREEEEEEATTTTTT.... GONZALES!!!"
"When I was just a poor pup, I didn't give a pokey's patoot for fancy, big-city ways. But I jumped into the world of martial arts and fought my way to fame and riches! An' know what I realised? Bein' rich an' famous is diggety-dang DYNAMITE!"
Koops's dad, whom he's been looking for for years. An adventurer at heart, he has a deep love for his son.
A deep, fatherly tone with a love for the thrill of the unknown should be submitted for this boistrous man!
"(Flabbergasted, Happy) Hey! You're... you're koops! Hey... son...! You've gotten so big since i saw you last...!"
"(Worried) Hmmmm... you may be right. But... I don't know. But if anything's happened to my boy Koops and Mario...!"
"Nicely said, young Koopa! Now THAT'S my boy!"
A monstrous dragon, she terrorises Petalburg and the surrounding area, and seems to be quite happy doing so.
Hooktail, while menacing, should sound brash and deep. She's a lot more cunning than you'd think she'd be... but that shouldn't be the main focus. That's a hidden facet of her character, so only bring that out when the script calls for it. Until then, this dragon is a (seemingly) brutish force of nature!
"(Imposing) That... was foolish, I fear. Do you really think you can beat me...?"
"BLECK! That awful sound... it... sounds like a cricket! How... do you know?!"
"(Pleading, convincing) W-Wait a second, hold up a moment! I give up, please! I won't be so bad any more, I promise! Er... yeah... to prove it... I'll give you 1000 coins! What do you say...?"
Mario's cowardly, yet compassionate brother, who has his own adventures this time around!
...Simply do your best Luigi impression. But also... experimentation is welcome.
"(Calling out) Hey bro! Check it out! A letter from Princess Peach arrived for you!!"
"Oh wow, that's crazy bro! You had a pretty rough time of it, didn't you...?"
"Hey, that sounds awesome bro! Sounds like everyone's doing great over there!"
The honorable, self-sufficient princess of The Mushroom Kingdom!
Feel free to go wild with her. Go the Sam Kelly route, Anya-Taylor Joy route... or your own! Just keep her regal air.
"(Annoyed, Guilty) Oh dear... Here we go again. I can't believe I'm kidnapped AGAIN. Mario and Toadstool must be worried sick... again."
"Could it be that you... (Shock) N-No! Impossible...! It can't be... You're a computer..."
"(Scared, angry) You monster...! What are you planning to do with him?!"
We'll of course also need some voices for background characters! Tackle some of, or all of, these lines however you wish.
