In a world built on bloodlines and power, magic is not a gift, but a birthright. One you either inherit or never touch. The Gifted, born with magic in their veins, reign over society: they run the courts, the hospitals, the universities. They write the laws and benefit from them. The Ashenborn, those born absent of magic, live in the shadow of this system, considered weaker, less intelligent, less human.
