Original Character Voice Exploration - Sarah Marcellus (Female, Teen)

Project Overview

Original Character Voice Exploration - Sarah Marcellus

This is my second project. Since I have a lot of characters (because of the story I'm writing), I think I'll be creating a lot of similar projects for character voice explorations. This time, I'm hoping to explore Sarah's voice, who is also among the main characters in my story (there is a total of 4).

I ought to clarify like I did in my last project, that this isn't a full animation or commercial production. My goal is simply to hear how different actors imagine this character and hopefully find a voice that feels like the one I've imagined over the years.
Anyone who's interested is welcome to give it a try!

About Sarah

Unlike my previous submission, regarding Emily Vermillion, Sarah (who's also a coeval possesses a more robust view of reality, meaning she's less likely to fall into overthinking. All in all, Sarah's composure is what defines her better than anything and while she does value common sense too like Emily, she's more likely to adjust her own opinions to match other people's perspectives, ONLY in case she thinks that'll help others.

Voice Direction

Sarah's overall voice shouldn't lean too far from a very common girl teenager voice since it's not what defines a big part of her personality (similar to Emily). I don't imagine her voice to be very unique, meaning that practically the majority of your interpretations could potentially fit her. Regardless, there are a few traits that I would suggest to avoid since they would most likely end up not being fitting such as, a deep voice, an overly enthusiastic attitude, an extremely mature tone. On the other hand, here's some traits that I would encourage anyone who wants to participate to explore. Calming/Soothing levels of overall voice volume, a very confident way of speaking, a rather reassuring tone in speech, and an overall consistent slow to medium speech pattern (not extremely slow).

(If there's any additional information you might want before your performance, don't hesitate to reach out to me and ask me any sort of question you might have!

Recording

Much like the previous Project, anyone who's interested is welcome to give it a try! There's no need for a professional microphone. A quiet recording environment is appreciated, but please once more, don't let your equipment stop you from auditioning if you'd like to participate."

Submission

Similar to the previous Project, feel free to audition using the lines below, or include a few additional lines if you think they better represent your interpretation of the character. You're also welcome to contact me on Discord if you'd prefer to share your recording there.

Language:
  • english
Voice description:
  • female teen
  • soothing
  • reassuring
  • confident
  • warm
  • “Oh no, look! It’s Ellunilt!” (Context : Sarah is trying to distract a group of her friends (by pointing at the sky) so that a different friend of her can get a few uninterrupted seconds with Emily. She sounds practically convincing. Ellunilt is pronounced as Eh-loo-NEE-lt)

  • “You know, Emily was speaking of you the other day”. (Context : Sarah is speaking to her friend after they were all ambushed (and later saved) telling him in a soothing manner, with a brief smile, the sentence in quotation).

  • “Go away! He’ll hear you!” (Context : Later in the story, one of the characters is essentially performing a serenade for Sarah (to make amends in a sense) Sarah is coming out of her window and tells him to go away, not because she hates him, but because she doesn't want her father to find him).
