Project Overview
Orbit 9 is a short episodic sci-fi audio adventure series for Spotify and YouTube, set at the edge of known space where the Galactic Federation is expanding into a dangerous new frontier. At the center of the story is the Contessa, a small and often-overlooked ship carrying five unlikely individuals whose choices will change the course of the universe. Blending action, mystery, humor, and heart, Orbit 9 follows a found family as they face smugglers, warlords, strange worlds, and the growing shadow of an empire that believes it can control everything it touches.

A 12-year-old boy and the emotional lead of the story. Mark is kind-hearted, impulsive, imaginative, and desperate to be a real hero. He’s got big energy, a little recklessness, and a lot of heart. Vocally, he should feel youthful and believable, but still capable of carrying dramatic scenes and heroic sincerity. Think confidence, humor, wonder, and occasional vulnerability

A talking hamster with the soul of a grumpy uncle and the loyalty of a best friend. Gus is sarcastic, pragmatic, funny, and secretly very warm. He’s comic relief, but never a joke character in a bad way — he’s smart, grounded, and often the voice of reason when everybody else is doing nonsense in space. His voice should feel expressive, streetwise, and memorable.

Mark’s father, now a human-cybernetic fusion. He’s stoic, deeply intelligent, emotionally reserved, and protective to a fault. This role needs someone who can sound analytical and controlled, but still hint at buried humanity and a father’s love underneath all the machine logic. He is one of the dramatic anchors of the show.

The team’s maternal figure, counselor, and moral anchor. She is wise, strict, nurturing, spiritual, and powerful. Ozara should sound elegant and commanding, but warm when needed. She is not soft in a weak way — she carries authority, grace, and emotional intelligence. This role needs a performer who can do regal strength and heartfelt care at the same time.

A young warrior girl and the newest major member of the team. She is cold, analytical, guarded, brave, and emotionally shut down, but there is warmth buried under all that armor. Her performance should feel sharp, dry, and controlled, with room for vulnerability to slowly emerge. She also has strong chemistry potential with the rest of the cast because so much of her arc is about learning to belong.
