The devil's shadow is an original thriller/drama/romance novel about a careless and introverted man named Jin Bly and a beautiful journalist by the name of Vanessa Lynn who fall in love. Jin is a "vigilante" and former gang leader and doesn't care about anything or anyone, which makes it hard for him to trust Vanessa. Whilst these two lovebirds meet and fall in love, Jin also tries to unravel the mystery of his father's death. He fights through different gangs and cartels for information about his fathers death and discovers lots of secrets about mexico along the way. When he realises the cause of his father's death is a drug which makes people go crazy, he does anything to find out who made it and tries to make sure no other people will be affected by it, while simultaneiously juggling his newfound love with Vanssa.
Jin is a very mysterious person who hates caring about things or people. He's introverted and likes to keep to himself so he doesn't risk others being hurt. While most people think this vigilante is the hero of the people and the corrupted mexico, he doesn't really care that much about their fate, only about what's good for him. But deep down he does care for their safety and has lots of feelings that only he can access. Jin is a very calm person and does not stress about a lot of things, but when it comes to his friends, he'll do anything.
(Angry, frustrated, crying) I'm going to kill you! (2x)

Vanessa is an upbeat and cheery person, she's very beautiful and also very nosy and curious. She's a good slouth and does not back down when she's got a trail to follow. She is a newsreporter that works for the company Ameco News Mexico, that exists all over Mexico. She was born in Florida and has just moved to Mexico to work and live there after her cousin died of the same drug that killed Jin's father. When she enters Mexico she realises how corrupted the government, police and all of the community is and she also learns about the cartels and gangs in the area, willing to sell anything to gain money.
Vanessa meet's Jin when she gets taken into an alleyway by a mysterious man who works for one of the members of the sex trafficking cartels "Timid Affection". Jin saves her from the man and does not leave any trace for her to follow except a name. From then on she does everything to find out who he is and along the way learns about the dark side of Ameco's rivaling company SAFN (South American Freedom News) and the dark side of her soon to be lover, Halcón (Jin Bly).
(Scared, confused) No way this is him right? Right?!

Gordon is the man who escorts Vanessa out of the airport when she arrives in mexico and is the butler to the CEO of major news cooperation, Ameco News Mexico, David García. He is also secretly a collegue to the new president of Mexico. He is very formal and is quite oldfashioned. His origin is from britain and he has a very strong accent. He is also known for being the only man in Mexico who has the initials G.G.G!
(Happy) Gordon Garfield Gregory the third, if you will.
(Worried, stressed) No, don't do that! The government and police themselves are pretty corrupt here. I advise you do not trust anyone. Do you understand?!
(Curious, confused) *out of breath* Amelia m'lady, where are you going?
David García is the CEO of Ameco News Mexico and has a wife and a daughter at home. He hates the company SAFN, since he knows they work for the biggest cartel in the area, La sombra del diablo (The devil's shadow). He is a former babysitter of Jin and has worked for a gang during his younger years. Now he's in his thirties, but still knows how to use a gun. He helps Jin by giving him the money he needs and even kills a newsreporter for him.
(Mysterious, formal) *creepy giggle* Gordon, no need to scare the young lady. (2x)
(Surprised, happy) Long time no see, little bro.
(Tired, annoyed) I guess I'll have to finish this, as always. (2x)
Rain is Jin's childhood friend and "brother". His family took him in after both Jin's parents died. Since both of them were troublemakers as children, they made a gang together called Deseos de latin. But unlike every other gang, theirs was made for the safety ofthe people. They kept the people away from the danger of the gangs, catrels and corrupted police. Back then Jin was the leader of the gang, but after a while he realised that he wasn't fit for the role, so Rain took over. Now his gang exists of about 50 people, all loyal to him. He is willing to help Jin whenever he needs it. Rain is a very extroverted and friendly guy who takes the mick out of everyone and takes the fun out of every situation, no matter how serious it is. He's extremely outgoing and sarcastic, aswell as not having trouble with explaining how he feels. He barely ever lies.
(Joking, happy) You're not going to have a shirt under that? You trying to impress the ladies? I'm proud of ya, bro. *wink*
(Serious, sad) *sigh*, Jin brother, you have to give that shit up. It's been over ten years and you're still blabbering on about it. What if the drug doesn't even exist and he just overdosed or something? Think about it.

Valentina is Vanessa's collegue and is very triggering. Whilst she sometimes can be very bitchy and annoying, she's mostly happy and ALWAYS hungry. She has a big sweettooth and can't keep away from candy (or eyecandy ;P ). She is also obsessed with looking good and her pasttime is staring at hot men without shirts.

Diego is a Vanessa's collegue who is bisexual. He is a bit chubby and loves sweets, just like Valentina. He often gets overly excited and embarrassed. He can be very cringe and say stuff that most people would find weird.
(Embarrassed) Anyone want some cheesecake? No? Then I'll eat it myself.
(Excited) I saw him with my own eyes! Oh those plumped lips... SO KISSABLE!

Carter is Jin's love rival and is a bounty hunter known by the entire country. He's known for his rugged good looks and charm and the fact that he is never caught by the police. He is mysterious, but also a big jokester who loves to flirt with everyone. But something changes within him when he meets the nosy girl Vanessa. Jin and Carter have met countless times before, but never made an aquaintance,
In the end both Jin and Carter are put to the test after they are forced to form an alliance, whilst liking the same woman, Vanessa.

Amelia is a girl who hates attention and people in general. She's really moody and has major trust issues. She is a sniper who works for whoever's willing to give her the money she wants. Amelia is the type of person who's always at the right place at the wrong time. She holds a unknowingly holds a grudge for Jin after one of her best friends die because Jin ordered it to happen. She is definitely not a people person. Only a select few are allowed into her inner circle.
(Annoyed) That's none of your business.
(Crying, mad) You killed him! I trusted you! You're a fucking murderer!

He's the one who wrote the only article that exists of Jin. Because of Jin's safety reasons, he has David kill him. Samuel was Amelia's best friend and seeks revenge for the man who killed him.

Topo is a man who gives out information about anyone or anything as long as you give him the money he wants. Carlos is the new president of Mexico after the last one dies a mysterious death. He is very intelligent but also quite young and handsome. He has a very creepy vibe, but has a smile that catches every eye in the room.
He plays a very important part in the sadistic schemes happening in the area.
His voice is mysterious, but intruiging.
