One Piece Manga Fandub - Alabasta
Project Overview
Introduction
Welcome to my fandub for the One Piece Manga. This casting is for the main portion of the Alabasta saga. We are currently working on our 17th volume of the series and would love for some more great VAs to join our growing cast of talented actors! We have multiple manga dubs going on at the moment but our One Piece one is definitely the largest. These dubs are for fun, but I am striving to create a good quality product for each one, to give the cast involved something to be proud as well as ourselves. We know it's not always easy getting experience, and I want these projects to be a high quality project for people of any experience level to either just have fun doing or so people wanting to get more experience and for everyone to have something they're proud of to share.
What I'm Looking For
Due to this and future projects like this being fandubs, unfortunately I am not able to offer monetary compensation due to copyright. Although it is unpaid though I would like to still have a level of professionalism and quality to the project. So I will be looking for people with:
- Because this is a very long series, please audition for the main cast or supporting characters that reoccur later on, only if you are willing to commit to a long term project. Other than the main crew the commitment isn't overly large for supporting characters but we would like to avoid having to change later on. If you aren't able to commit to long term though feel free to audition for minor roles or supporting roles that do not reappear later in the story, so we don't have to recast if you have to leave.
- Good quality microphone, preferably XLR but if you have a USB mic do not let that deter you from auditioning since it is the sound quality I'm looking for and that's still definitely achievable with some USB mics.
- 2-3 takes max per line
- Do not slate
- Only basic post processing done to audio, as raw as possible.
- Little to no background noise, reverb or echo. Some we can definitely work with but if there is too much of any of these it greatly takes away from the quality of the audio and can be very jarring to listen to when mixed in with other audio.
- Discord is definitely preferred but not mandatory by any means but will make things much easier to work on the project as a whole.
- A good attitude! We have a great team building and we would like that to continue, which also makes things obviously much easier if you can get along well with me and the rest of the team!
**Our next table read, starting this arc will be on Saturday, January 8. So if cast please be aware we will be having a table read that day, and that table reads are required for participation in the project**

There are quite a few roles in this casting that will be needed later on down the line or will be continuous roles so please take that into account when auditioning.

With the amount of work we are currently producing we are very open to having help with the editing. Because of the nature of the project, we aren't able to provide compensation for this role either unfortunately, but if you are interested in gaining more experience and credits to your name, or just love the content and would like to work on a project for fun, we would love to hear from you!
Our main editor for this project unfortunately had to step down due to not having any time, so we are in need for a lead editor to take over. The editing for the manga's is going to be fairly simple, just lots of transitions and words loading as speech is being overlaid. As well as inputting the audio tracks into the video as well obviously. Because this project is our biggest project and very action packed usually, we would love to have someone that's able to use different effects to bring the episodes to life.

This role would involve assisting our head audio engineer with prepping and arranging the audio so that it is ready to submit to the video editor. This could involve a number of different tasks depending on what is needed by the head engineer. If you are newer and wanting more experience or just want to help out for fun or credit, please send a portfolio of audio work you've done previously

King Cobra is Vivi's father and the King of Alabasta. He is a kind and just ruler and always puts the wellbeing of his subjects above all else. He is also a very kind and caring father and cares for his daughter deeply. He was known to sneak out and follow her in (poor) disguise when she was younger to see her make friends.
Voice Reference: I couldn't find much from the english dub so the first clip is from the original Japanese and the second one @1:06 there is a brief clip of his voice in English.
That's a good son you've raised there. He said "how the villagers feel" just now. That means he came all the way here to speak with me for their sake.

*Being sneaky* Look Igaram, Vivi's got herself some ner friends. In order to govern Alabasta well in the future... That's the most important thing she can have!

Even if the Royal Army were to be defeated, as long as Crocodile is taken out, the country will be rebuilt by the hands of it's people! But if we instead have our army fight the rebel forces, the only one laughing at the end will be Crocodile!
Kohza is the leader of the rebellion in Alabasta and can be a very hot headed character, but cares about his country more than anything, there are multiple flashbacks of him and Vivi throughout their childhood in Alabasta.
Vivi and Kohza, although they started out hating each other, ended up becoming extremely close friends, to the point Kohza even almost sacrifices himself to protect her. When he is a child especially, the va needs to be versatile with projecting emotion because he goes through many extreme emotions, from rage to lots of tears.
I could not find an audio clip of him when he was young but he was 9 years old in the flashbacks.
Vivi, run for it! These guys are trying to take you away!!

*Furious and in tears* You think that's suddenly gonna fix everything?! You don't have a clue how the villagers feel!

Listen up, guys! From today, Vivi's the vice-leader of our Sand-sand gang! Any complaints with that!?
Toto is Kohza's father and a good friend of Vivi and her father. He used to be a much more robust man in the flashbacks of when Vivi and Kohza were young but time has been very cruel to him and the sands of the desert. He is now more a shell of what he used to be.
Despite the setbacks, the plots to frame the King, the constant sand storms destroying his village and his son and everyone else from the village turning to the Rebellion, Toto remains hopefully and positive. He is determined to believe in the King and his village and fight to protect and defend them no matter what anyone says.
He is incredibly emotional when he finds Vivi is still alive and just gives him more hope for the future. He isn't a huge character but does play a pivotal role in the saga, as a driving force for Luffy.

Kohza is the leader of the Rebellion and Vivi's childhood friend. He started the rebellion after believing that the King was betraying his people. He is extremely patriotic and cares deeply about the people of the country and only wishes to fight to help those who can't.
He can be a bit hot headed, but is also very levelheaded and a kind leader of his group.

Miss Merry Christmas is a very odd character, she talks very rushed and gets very worked up all the time. She is partnered with Mr. 4. He's got a pretty raspy voice as well. Her power is the Mole Mole fruit and she's able to turn into a mole human.

Mr. 1 is the highest ranking member of Baroque Works, aside from Crocodile and Robin. He is Zoro's main opponent for Alabasta. He is cocky and arrogant and believes there's no one that can stand up to him. Fighting Zoro his ego is incredibly apparent. He also doesn't care for any of the other agents and sees himself as above them all other than his partner.

Miss Doublefinger is Mr.1's partner and the highest ranking female agent of Baroque Works other than Robin. She is undercover at first as a bartender and then later reveals herself to be the highest ranking agent. She is very smooth and mature with the way she carries herself, but she has a deadly power as well. She feels almost sorry for Nami at times during their fight and annoyed for herself to have to fight with her.

Kappa is a young boy that wants to join the rebel army at first because he is furious at the King for stealing the rain. He is a smaller character but also plays into a few very important scenes.

Chaka is one of the Alabasta royal guards. He is a devote follower of the king and will do anything to protect his kingdom.

Pell is the commander of the royal guard, just below Igaram in Alabasta. He is one of the strongest warriors in the country and has one of the only devil fruits that allow the user to fly. He is a compassionate person and cares deeply about Vivi, the King and his country and would give his life in a second to protect any of them.
