One Piece Manga Dub Chapter 1
Project Overview
This project is a long-term fandub of the One Piece Manga, meaning we will be dubbing over the manga in its entirety! This audition is for chapter 1 of the manga! We will be doing the other chapters at a later point!
About One Piece-
Barely surviving in a barrel after passing through a terrible whirlpool at sea, carefree Monkey D. Luffy ends up aboard a ship under attack by fearsome pirates. Despite being a naive-looking teenager, he is not to be underestimated. Unmatched in battle, Luffy is a pirate himself who resolutely pursues the coveted One Piece treasure and the King of the Pirates title that comes with it.The late King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger, stirred up the world before his death by disclosing the whereabouts of his hoard of riches and daring everyone to obtain it. Ever since then, countless powerful pirates have sailed dangerous seas for the prized One Piece only to never return. Although Luffy lacks a crew and a proper ship, he is endowed with a superhuman ability and an unbreakable spirit that make him not only a formidable adversary but also an inspiration to many.As he faces numerous challenges with a big smile on his face, Luffy gathers one-of-a-kind companions to join him in his ambitious endeavor, together embracing perils and wonders on their once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
Some rules/guidelines to note before auditioning-
- -Keep in mind, this is a long-term project, so audition with knowing that!
- -Something to remember when audition: You will have to yell some lines... so please acknowledge that!
- -Having knowledge of the manga or show is preferred, but not required.
- -Lines will usually be due 1-2 weeks after the script for the chapter is posted!
- -Please be 16+!
- -Have a decent sounding mic, no background noise/a quiet recording space. The mic doesn't need to be professional... just one that doesn't echo/create lots of background noise.
- -Please do at least 2 takes per line with different delivery styles!
- -Please be easy, respectful, and professional to work with.
- -Please leave your discord in the comments of your audition! Our main point of communication will be on a discord server, so it is required to have a discord account!

Monkey D. Luffy, also known as "Straw Hat Luffy" and commonly as "Straw Hat",[10] is the founder and captain of the increasingly infamous and powerful Straw Hat Pirates, as well as the most powerful of its top fighters.[26][27] He desires to find the legendary treasure left behind by the late Gol D. Roger and thereby become the Pirate King,[28] which would help facilitate an unknown dream of his that he has told only to Shanks, his brothers, and crew.[29][30] He believes that being the Pirate King means having the most freedom in the world.

"Red-Haired" Shanks,[9] commonly known as just "Red Hair",[12] is the chief[5] of the Red Hair Pirates[2] and one of the Four Emperors that rule over the New World.[3]
Sailing with the Roger Pirates since he was an infant, Shanks would begin his pirate career on their ship as an apprentice alongside Buggy, before forming his own crew following Roger's death.[4]
Twelve years ago, while operating in the East Blue, Shanks inspired the young village boy, Monkey D. Luffy to go on his own pirate journey,[13] thus being responsible for the boy becoming the notorious outlaw he is today. He also accidentally provided Luffy with the Gomu Gomu no Mi to eat,[14] and even sacrificed his left arm to save the boy from being eaten by the Lord of the Coast out at sea. Most notably, he also owned the straw hat that once belonged to Gol D. Roger himself and has become Luffy's signature accessory, having gifted it to the boy as part of a promise for them to meet again someday.

Gold Roger, the "King of the Pirates," had achieved it all. Wealth, fame and power had all been his.
A small harbor village. One year ago... ...A pirate ship made the village its base.
Villager boy Monkey D. Luffy
Gol D. Roger,[7][3] more commonly known as Gold Roger,[1] was a legendary pirate who, as captain of the Roger Pirates, held the title of Pirate King and owned the legendary treasure known as One Piece.[1] He was also the lover of Portgas D. Rouge and the biological father of Portgas D. Ace.[8]
Roger was famed as the man who did what no one thought possible — he conquered the Grand Line and amassed a vast fortune. Afterwards, knowing that he would soon die from an incurable disease, Roger disbanded his crew before turning himself in to be executed. The World Government intended to have Roger be publicly executed to discourage piracy, but his last words had the opposite impact. He stated that anyone who can find his treasure can claim it. As such, this made Roger single-handedly responsible for starting the Golden Age of Pirates.

Lucky Roux[5] is one of the Senior Officers, a combatant, and the cook of the Red Hair Pirates.[6][7][3] He is also the one who found the Gomu Gomu no Mi which was eaten by Monkey D. Luffy.

Yasopp,[6] known as "Chaser",[3] is one of the Senior Officers and the sniper of the Red Hair Pirates.[7] He is also the father of Usopp[8] and the widower of Banchina.

Benn Beckman[6] is the first mate of the Red Hair Pirates. Beckman appears to be a lot less fun-loving and a lot more relaxed than the other members of the crew are, acting as the level-headed member. He, Lucky Roux, and Yasopp are some of Shanks' most trusted crew members, as they are always seen when the Red Hair Pirates are featured, usually when something crucial happens.[1] He is a well-deserved vice-captain who silently supports the crew with a deep attitude despite their liveliness.

Woop Slap[3] is the mayor of Monkey D. Luffy's hometown, Foosha Village.
For the most part, Woop Slap is a typical village elder: practical, humorless, and disdainful of pirates (with the semi-exception of Shanks). As such, he is Foosha Village's loudest—if not only—critic against Luffy's dreams of piracy, and has remained so long after Luffy's crew attained worldwide notoriety.
At the same time, he cares deeply for his village, and is willing to go to great lengths for its people, Luffy included. Such is his dedication that, despite his irascible personality, he has managed to remain mayor for more than a decade.
