He's very soft and gentle, he blushes quite easily and trips on the stairs quite a lot. He's the king, and despite his constant fear and nervousness, tries his hardest to be firm and commanding.

Of course, Everard didn’t explain. That stubborn old man can’t do a simple task, so I’ll have to do it myself. I really have to do everything myself, don’t I? It’s so hard. I’m so stressed, I’ve barely been able to sleep recently, and now I’m going behind the backs of everyone I know, secretly scheming like a little mischievous creature that lives in a hole!
Shrom, do you really not remember me? After everything? I know you hated me all your life, but to me, you were always reliable and strong. I could never stop looking up to you.
[tearful]
There are A LOT of side characters. If you’re willing to take on multiple roles with unique voices and tones, this will be perfect for you. You’ll also be required to yell.
Side characters include The King, soldiers, listeners, innkeepers, inn inhabitants, Ivy (an advisor), servants, a mysterious octopus, and many, many more!
“Here, psst, young man! Take this loaf of bread!”
“Catch him!!!!!”
“GET OUT! Don’t you dare come back to my inn!”
She used to be a mischievous person who visited the castle on a mission to barter with the King. She’s brave, knows her limits, and isn’t afraid to jump into action if need be.
“One more favour please, King. I’d like to request your servant, Arven, to be under my command for a few weeks.”
“Ooooh, COFFEE BEANS?! My favourite!”
“You look like you’ve been dragged through the mud. I mean! You look tired! Just tired. How about a fresh set of clothes, hm?”
You'll be voicing all the side female characters, mainly Muskerina, Maehwo, Rhinella, and little shopkeepers or people along the way.
Muskerina: A potion-maker and healer, she's very sweet and kind.
Rhinella: A haughty and well-mannered older woman.
Maehwo: A mischievous person who tries to make deals with the adventurers.
Rhinella: Oh please, Carter, don't be so shy! Just go and ask the botanist, she's not going to hurt you. And mind the door, would you? You always shut it with such a bang when you go out, it's really dreadful.
Muskerina: One last request, King. I'll pretend to have not heard your previous statement, if you'll grant me the services of your youngest advisor for one month. That should be enough.
Maehwo: So, what have we here? I'm so happy to have finally met you! I'll give you all the help you need, for a price.
You'll be voicing Amanita, an old woman living deep in the forest. She's quite wise and specialises in potion-making.
You'll also have the option of voicing other side characters, such as a grumpy innkeeper, a friendly soldier, a wise mapmaker, and a mysterious gnome who helps the main character along the journey. These ones aren't required to sound older, I'd love to see your take on them!
“Advisors can sometimes be hiding their own motives, but if Thaeron can prove himself as a fierce and powerful ruler, his power should remain undisputed. He better get rid of his softness and fear, because I don’t think the people would be willing to stick with his methods of ruling for quite long.”
“Oh that damn innkeeper! One time, I threatened to steal his business, saying I’d build this house into an inn, and he’s so bitter about it to this day. He gets his petty revenge by sending my way all the weirdest and most unappealing travellers that come to his inn. I get my own revenge in my own style, but that’s a different matter.”
"Sometimes friendliness can come off as rude. Welcome. Please ignore my tactless apprentice.”
He's a bit of a mystery and can be quite deceitful.
Yeah, well he may look alright, behaving all clumsy and cute, and being all flustered and innocent. But behind that boy of softness and gentle nature stands a monster of power and ferocity. You can’t trust him for a second, oh no, no, you can't.
I'm the best in the land. You want to know where to find the best mushrooms in the land? Well, that's a secret.
He's a grumpy old man who really doesn't want to be on this mission. He's quite secretive and stubborn.
Ouch, my back! Slow down, girl.
How am I supposed to know? You're the one leading this mission, so you figure it out. I'm only here to...oh nevermind. Just get on with it!
I'm not a trussed up chicken!
A frog who was turned into a human. He doesn't know much about how to behave properly, but tries his best and is quite terrified of being abandoned. He supports Rhea, and has a big role to play himself, though he might not know it. He used to be arrogant, but has been significantly humbled by the frog experience.
I can't believe you just kissed me! Oh, my poor innocence is vanished!
You are a wonderful person, your wisdom and kindness has truly touched me. I don't think I'll be able to leave now. Can you adopt me?
Rhea, it's alright. I may not know much, but I know that you saved me. Otherwise, I would have been a frog forever, lost within the murky pond waters. Which, on second thought, might not have been so bad a fate.
She's a very excitable character who speaks without thinking much. She says what's on her mind, but has a good heart and lives simply. She's happy to be dragged on any adventure that involve mushrooms, and she's not afraid to get into a fight if need be.
And before I could think twice, I jumped onto his back, monkey style, and dug my fingers in his hair, ready to pull it all out. But I noticed something, a fact which slithered into my mind despite the blinding rage that clouded all logic. His hair was soft, extraordinarily soft, and thick. It wouldn’t be right to try and pull it out. It just wouldn’t. So I opted to try and choke him instead. I didn’t really know how though, so it was a bit of a disaster waiting to happen.
My story starts when I was running in the woods, desperate to lose the soldiers on my tail. I guess my story truly starts at birth, but the first bit of my life was really boring; raised by a grandmother, discovered mushrooms at a young age, so on, so forth, so we’ll just skip ahead to the woods.Pah! You’re the worst of them all! Threatening me and forcing me to get this mushroom for you, and allowing evil people with knives to threaten me under your very roof! Those scoundrels!
A pregnant botanist who loves running around the forest and baking pies. She's careless and lacks manners, but is extremely hospitable and motherly.
What I wouldn't give for a melon bigger than the pesky princess! I just need to win that pie competition!
I...I mean....what I meant is....you seem to know a lot about growing things! I can see a lot of vegetables in your kitchen. Look! Look at the size of this potato!
It's true love. No, don't look at me like that, Rhea. Don't deny it. Silly girl!
