Hello! My name is Will and I'm working on an fan audio drama set in the universe of NieR! Specifically the Automata period, taking place before the events of the game and focusing on the relationship between 2B and 9S before the tragic events take place. However that isn't to say there won't be tragic things happening in my audio drama! We'll just have to wait and see what happens!
I also hate to say it folks, but this is afan made passion project based on a pre-existing narrative, and there will be no payment. It bugs me to no end that I can't pay people, but I don't make a lot of money and neither will this project. Unless I remove all possible assets owned by Yoko Taro, this project will stay that way. If that discourages you from auditioning, then I understand completely.
Now, before you go down and look at the parts I have, I'd like to mention that KNOWLEDGE OF THE NIER UNIVERSE IS NOT REQUIRED!! Only preferred as it will help you generally understand the roles more, or inflections to use, etc. I say inflections because we are playing already established characters, and as such, they will need to be either voice matched or to as close of a match as you can get! No worries if you can't quite mimic a character. I'm not the real voice actor of 9S and Luucarii is not the real 2B. Just give me your best performance and match!
Right now I'm casting for the second episode, and the only other characters I need to cast are the Pods and a one off female YoRHa battle unit. For those that know NieR, there you go. For those that don't, I will have references posted in role descriptions!!
Things you'll want to consider when submitting auditions:
-The best mic quality ya got! I'm trying to keep consistent quality. I don't need perfect sound quality, but a little noise removal and compression goes a long way!
-Keep your audio volume high, but not too high! I just want to be able to hear you and your wonderful voice <3
-Have fun with this. Seriously, creativity is welcome! The one off might make me want to have you voice more characters again, so don't treat it lightly just because she'll go away very quickly :c
We'll miss her, but we don't have to miss you! As for the pods, I'm open to some creative freedom, but mostly you're voice matching. And again while I said inflections are important and existent for these characters, they still need some layer of creativity! After all, they may just have feelings of their own that they are discovering. ***SPOILERS FOR THE END OF THE GAME*** They do end up gaining desires and some form of emotion near the end of Ending E. With that in mind, maybe you could even give these charming little robots some form of hints at their underlying complexity? That would be interesting...
One more thing to note: The Pods are the recurring characters, and the YoRHa unit is the one off. Be wary that if you get the part of the Pods, you'll be in unless you desire to be dropped! Pod 42 is 2B's robotic support unit. Loyal to the end to his master because he was...programmed that way! No matter what he's ordered to do, he will always obey. He will be persistent in his advisories towards 2B, but will ultimately follow orders in the end. Likes to be pet.
Enunciation. Is. Key! These are perfect robots, and must not blend or link their words. Take your time with this and make sure that you are giving it your best read!
Feel free to add a robotic filter similar to the one in the video, or don't! But if you do supply a filter, you must keep applying it to each line you send me.

So same drill more or less, but this one's... a GIRL?! I'll leave the lines the same except for the first one because it's my favorite.

This is 16B. A battle unit who fought bravely in her mission to recover an important piece of information, but was overcome by a deadly logic virus, meaning it becomes dangerous to upload user data to the Bunker, lest the virus spread ever more. She realizes this and promptly tries to protect her fellow YoRHa by telling him to buzz off before it's too late. Knowing our Nines, he is a little stubborn. Will she survive?
This spot is completely open to interpretation in terms of voice type. North American accent preferred, but will not disqualify your audition. Again, you are free to be creative! SoAs a matter of fact, I think I would prefer this character to be a bit on the cheerier side. Again however, I am not closed off to interpretation. Give me what you think would be fun or what you know is your best character! Just remember:

You are... 9S, correct? Nngh.... I'm sorry, but... you should really just leave me. I'm just a liability to you in this state...
I'm telling you to GO. Right now! Do not endanger yourself over me. You can't risk being around me... you'll get infected too!

I would also like you guys to post your demo reels too! I would like to have a pool of actors I can refer back to if I ever need some roles to be filled (and trust me, there will be roles to be filled ^^)
