NEETHMARIN: Skyrim Follower Mod - Extras Casting Call #1
Project Overview
Hello all, and I hope you're keeping well!
Neethmarin has hired a few lackeys that need voices!For those who do not know, I am working mightily hard on my own Skyrim Follower Mod that takes advantage of modern RPGs' writing and mechanics to bring to life a certain Argonian. Neethmarin is the follower in question for the mod, but I have recently created more minor NPCs who need voices as well.
If you are interested in jumping in as part of the project, feel free to send an audition for any of the following roles:
Mavric Beldren, a Breton man in his thirties who has recently lost it all due to the Civil War that plagues Skyrim.
M'idzo, a male Khajiit who has a tendency to prank and laze about instead of actually doing any work. He takes full advantage in what he can to earn more coin.
Gro-Shugnar, an Orc who has been exiled from his native stronghold and has been having trouble searching for a job. Thankfully, Neethmarin needs muscle, and nothing fills that role better than an Orc.
Timeliness - I don't post strict, hard deadlines on scripts because I want to give everyone a fair amount of leeway to get their ACTUAL lives in order. I'm in college and work two jobs, I think I know how it feels to not be able to hit a deadline.
Audio Format - I need all script submissions done in WAV form, at a sample rate of 44100hz, 16bits, mono, PCM (Uncompressed).
Software - There is no strict use on what kind of software you use to edit and record your lines, but I personally use Audacity, so it's recommended you use that, if you feel comfortable with it.
Passion - Most important thing I'm looking for is dedicated, passionate actors who can bring my characters to life and overall, they just enjoy everything about The Elder Scrolls. I love fantasy RPGs, they're sick. It would be great if you felt a similar way!
*Equipment - Please have a good microphone and noise suppression! I'm striving for an immersive experience and having a majority of VAs with good quality audio and having one with no noise suppression and audible clicks and background noise kind of ruins it. So please ensure you can provide quality audio.
General Game Knowledge (optional, honestly) - It would help you understand your lines if you have already played the games and have a general understanding as to what you were talking about. I like lore, and tend to use it.
*Note: Hi! If you're a first-time voice actor, I highly recommend the Fifine AM8. It's a great budget ondenser mic with USB/XLR support and I use it myself. It's pretty great.

A Breton man in his thirties, seeking employment after his farm had seized by the Thalmor for signs of Talos worship. He's lost a lot in the span of a few years, so he has trouble caring about stuff for too long.
Mavric Beldren lost his farm in a skirmish between the Stormcloaks and Imperial Legion. He's been looking for another job ever since, and Neeth's work notice was a godsend for him. He's just trying not to muck anything up, but it's hard to reach the expectations of a scholar who isn't 100% sure what he's looking for, which makes Mavric timid in nature. The stress of continuously falling short of expectations causes Mavric to shrink, wanting to go unnoticed for the most part.
His voice is standard for a mature adult male approaching his middle-ages. All of these roles are in the low-mid vocal range, but Beldren's voice is in the middle of the three, if that helps you at all.
His accent can be either standard American or slightly British, if you want. I'm not particularly picky on his accent. Do what you're comfortable with.

(timid) "The lizard puts a lot of weight on us sometimes. | Sometimes, he sends us off with the same list of things to look out for, we look for them, and find nothing. | I say "sometimes," but it's mostly just… all the time."
(offended, but still timid) "What? No! I can see perfectly well! | When I say "there are no signs of a cult at the site," then trust me when I say that I looked everywhere for one! | He just has… unrealistic expectations of us… or maybe the leads. | I don't even know where he gets them from. He refuses to say."
(forlorn) "Probably nothing, knowing our luck. | If you manage to find anything, - and that's a big IF, - then he'll likely look at us and think… | 'These fools are so incompetent! I should have hired that newcomer a long time ago!' | (Sigh)… Not that I blame you for anything that happens. I just know it'll end poorly for me if you actually find something."
A Khajiit down on his luck and searching for opportunities. He's not necessarily a bad or untrustworthy guy, but he does openly admit to wishing for something to pocket from the cult sites for a bit of extra coin.
The Khajiit doesn't say a lot about who he really is or why he came to work for Neeth. Ultimately, it's sort of up to the Player to decide if they really trust him or not. Does he have ulterior motives, or is he really just a prankster who's found his latest target? Who knows?
The voice of this immature Khajiit should be a young adult male in his mid to late twenties. In context with the three of these roles, M'idzo has the lightest and highest voice here, but that does not mean he sounds like a child, mind you.
M'idzo has a very typical Khajiit accent. His personality is also pretty bubbly and mischievous, so keep that in mind when delivering his lines.

(offended, but gets excited) "Whatever do you mean? This one is innocent! M'idzo has no idea how each of the lizard's pockets became filled with sand. | Hehe… did he get angry about it? Say that he did!"
(amused, confident) "This one can confidently say that the lizard rests no easier because of him! It is so funny, listening to his bickering! And M’idzo is paid nonetheless!”
(dismissive, then giddy) “Ah, who really cares? Us? We get paid to kick stones at abandoned trash piles. | M’idzo likes this job. It is extremely easy.”
An Orc who got kicked out of his mercenary group for insulting the leader. He needs coin, and the mines weren't hiring at the time.
Gro-Shugnar is seen as the muscle of the group, and tends to remain emotionally closed off from the rest of his team, who he doesn't really view as worth his time.
His voice is typical of most Orcs in The Elder Scrolls, rugged and low, and pretty menacing even in its friendliest tone.

Orcs don't really have accents, as far as I'm concerned, so I don't really know what to say here. I guess just try to sound as brutish as you can and try to leave nationality out of it.

“I’m capable of cracking open skulls, of course… but I’m a trebuchet without a shooter. | Hopefully, the scholar will point me in the right direction.”
"There's not a damn thing in any of the sites the scholar leads us to. And it's unlikely he even checks them himself. | If you ask me, he should be more trusting of the people he's actively paying… | … or don't be. M'idzo is hardly worth trusting."
