Narrative Design Awards Game Jam Project
Project Overview
This project is a yet-to-be-named 3d game that will be submitted to the Narrative Design Awards game jam. The premise is that the player and their spouse are tourists exploring the swamps of the southern United States by boat when they realize they are horribly lost. With no cell phone service or map (tourists amirite), they're forced to use a radio to get in contact with someone who can guide them to safety. Flipping through radio channels, the player will engage in choice-based conversation with several wacky characters who can help or hinder the player in their efforts to escape the swamp. The game is a delicate balance of finding a way out of the swamp while dealing with your spouse who is taking the situation a little less well than you are.
The jam ends on May 23rd, so we're looking for voice actors who are able to work within a tight schedule. It is possible that some of the voice acting may be implemented after the jam ends. More radio callers for both genders to be added soon!

Lead role. The spouse of the player character. Your typical well-meaning husband who is put in a stressful situation where he feels powerless and out of control. The player character is the one who takes charge while the husband is a source of doubts, worries, and insecurities. He wants to be helpful but doesn't realize that he unintentionally tends to make things worse. Demeanor may change over the course of the story as the player's dialogue choices mend or hurt the relationship. Dialogue will generally have a comedic, conversational twinge with a few more dramatic sequences.

A proud mom of three struggling with empty nest syndrome. She's coped by adopting...cats. Many cats. She works at a diner on the edge of the swamp, and is as syrupy sweet as they come. If only she could keep her attention on you long enough to help!

"Hey sugar, what's a sweet-sounding thing like you doing out there in that dreadful wet napkin of a swamp?"
"Well, it just got so lonely in the house with just lil old me milling about. The first one found me, and then his friends showed up. ...And his friends' friends. "
A long-time resident of the swamp who may actually be quite helpful to the player, if only they could understand him through his thick Southern accent. His accent can go a few ways, as long as it's hard to decipher: super fast talking, mumbling, drawling, full of slang, none, or all of the above! Don't feel obligated to audition with the custom lines, they're just there for inspiration if needed.

"You meanin' to tell me the two of you's zigged and zagged through the swamp with no map? Gonna be a long day for you, gator-bait."
"Wait a minute...yeah, yeah I do reckon I know whereabouts you two lover birds done wandered off to."
A very superstitious older man who has spent his life sailing in the swamps. His tone toward the player is harsh and chastising, as he feels that they got in their predicament by not properly following the "old ways". Southern/country/gravelly notes for accent.

A young woman very interested in all things occult and magical. She's more interested in reading the player's tarot than actually helping them out. Bizarre and eccentric. Lives in the swamp.

Our existing 3d artist could use some help creating assets for the game. Think trees, waterplants, abandoned boats, and swamp animals. Since the player character is stuck in their boat, there's only one environment we're hoping to flesh out as much as possible. The game is being made in Unity, and we're going for a stylized look. Bonus points if you have 3d animation skills!
