My Friend, Mae

Project Overview

Hey!! Thanks for taking interest in my new animated project, My Friend Mae.

 First, I would like to apologize for there being little artwork or character pictures. Since I have only recently decided I would take up this project there isn't really anything to see yet. I wanted to get the casting call up as quick as possible. There will, however, be a video coming out soon and I will be adding character pictures over time! ALSO! The pictures that are on here are all in the same poses just for simplicity!

There will be about 12 ten minute episodes.

Plot

Al is a Junior in high school. He is seen as a shy, quiet, and mean guy due to the fact that a bunch of horrible rumors were spread around about him in 6th grade. Ever since then he wears the same grey hoodie with the hood always covering his head. His glasses cover his eyes and he always seems angry. He has zero friends and has a couple of bullies, but he never lets any of that get to him. He is a push over and never gets to finish a single sentence. One day a girl, Mae Sizu, ends up accidentally breaking his glasses and after apologizing and talking to him more she realizes he really is a nice guy so with her overdramatic self promises Al that she'll do everything in her power to find him at least ten quality friends in at least 3 months! This Fanime follows Mae and Al in a great adventure, it is a comedy and a slice of life with a tad bit of romance.

Requirements:


  • Timelines, I want to be able to e-mail you your lines and deadline and get a response within at most three days.



  • Decent mic. It doesn't have to be top of the line, I just ask for no static or background noise.



  • Have fun with your audition! I want to see your loud and excited side its a comedy and I want people who can really portray happiness.



  • Finally, be nice!

Mae Sizu is a sweet and caring girl. However, she does have a problem with listening to rumors and gossip. She lives for overacting and drama. She always thinks she's doing the right thing but ends up doing the wrong thing.

Please feel free to experiment with how she talks! I would love to see what you come up with! She is very upbeat though and does have a somewhat sweet voice (when she isn't angry)

    You can't just waltz in and act like you know everything! I get you think you're the grand glam but that's just not true! I promise you, NOBODY likes you!

  • (Apologetic almost to tears. Gosh does she seem bipolar)

    I'm sorry...I didn't mean to I really didn't mean to. I just got mad and UGH anger it can do crazy things can't it? No! You don't need to say anything.

  • (Laughing and kind)

    HA! So you have a sense of humor too? I'm Mae Sizu! Nice to get to actually talk to you.

Al is pitiful, pitiful guy. I really do feel bad for him. He's lived his whole life being a HUGE pushover. He's a really nice and polite guy but he never gets to say more than a couple words before getting interrupted when he speaks. He is a pretty funny guy though. He basically lives with the same hoodie on 24/7 and the hood is always on covering up his very short brown hair. His glasses cover his eyes and no one knows what they look like.

I would like his voice to be portrayed as sweet and shy maybe medium tone to deep tone of voice

    Hello. *ahem* Hi. No...Are you sure they won't interrupt me? I-I don't think I can do this. I'm just a simple guy from a simple town, what makes you think I can order my own food?

    Me? Friends? Maybe I could make one or two, but ten???

Willus Will is a funny and stupid human being.  His main calendar is to torment Al, he was the one that actually started a lot of the rumors about him. He is a very energetic and bored character.

His voice is preferably low and enthusiastic.

  • (Happy)

    I heard you and that girl...Mae? Have gotten pretty close. So you can make friends?

  • (Laughing)

    And then he *almost out of breathe gasp* he... HAHA he... He tried to keep talking!

Mrs. Tucker is just mean. That's all I can really describe her as. She is a horrible teacher as well.

I would like her to have a low voice.

    Once again, Mr.Tolen, I can't express to you how important it is for you to get to class on time! You are doing okay in this class for now but I swear one day you'll miss something very important!

  • (More angry)

Johnny is another shy kid. Mae thinks he is a good person for Al to be friends with because he is "equally" as shy. He works at Foodies (a fast food restaurant) and that's where they meet. He is a guy who is pretty suspicious of everyone. He loves food and anime. His hair has blue tips and it is long enough for a man-bun.

His voice is medium tone or high tone.

    Well if you can't hear me you need a hearing aid because this is about as loud as it gets.

Lizzie a real badass. She's short but has lots of brains and wit. She has a lot of connections because her father is a Mob boss.  She becomes friends with Al on her own but takes a real liking to him, she thinks he's be a good mobster.

She's got a high tone voice but its tough.

Drake is a sweetie who has some memory problems, he gets side-tracked easily. He takes everything seriously and laughs a lot. He is really tall and scrony with scraggily black hair. 

I want you guys to play with this characters voice. He should sound a little innocent.

Daze is a semi sassy and semi stuckup girl. She is very unathletic and loves to shop. She is in her parents debt and sometimes to get money off of LIzzie but fails.

She has a medium tone to low tone of voice

    MAE WHO? Yeah I don't know her but that's a pretty name. I kind of want it. Daze is so typical, such a common name.
