My Brother Under the Snow (Audio Production)

My Brother Under the Snow (Audio Production)

Project Overview

Gordon is annoyed with Flying Scotsman showing him up and calling him "little brother." When the two engines are assigned to clear the tracks, Scotsman takes on the role as leader and gives Gordon a hard time. Eventually, the two brothers fall out and go their separate ways...until one of them falls off the side of the tracks into a snowy field and it's up to the other to save him.

Gordon the Big Engine

Gordon's important position as the engine who pulls the Express has made him proud, pompous and self-important, with a good reason too; he is the fastest engine on Sodor. He is extremely proud of this and is inclined to boast. He is goodhearted, always willing to forgive and uses his superior strength to help smaller engines out of trouble. He also has a great hate of goods trains. He speaks with a deep, upper-class English accent.

  • "Have you forgotten that I'M the older brother?!"

  • "If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have been built!"

  • "Must you show me up every time?"

Flying Scotsman is a polite and proud engine; however he can be pompous and somewhat smug, like his brother Gordon. Scotsman has a common sibling relationship with Gordon, and enjoys teasing him, referring to him as his "little brother" to annoy him. He speaks with a deep, upper-class British accent.

  • "Yes, but whose the one with two tenders?"

  • "Need I remind you that I was the first engine to break the speed record of 100 mph officially?

  • "Well, I'm at the front, so we'll do what I say!"

Henry is generally well-behaved, but is sometimes arrogant. Henry is at heart, a very hard worker, but his frequent bouts of illness hinder his work. His illnesses almost always have something to do with his boiler. He speaks with a deep, but gentle upper-class English accent.

  • "Hello, Scotsman. And Gordon."

  • "Scotsman, I thought Gordon was working with you?"

  • "You shouldn't really take what he says to heart."

James the Red Engine

James is very proud of his splendid red paintwork. He dislikes pulling trucks and believes that he should only pull coaches. He thinks himself superior to the others and can be shallow, boastful, overconfident, naughty and vain, particularly to those who appear old-fashioned, weak, slow or dirty. However, on a number of occasions, he has found himself in need of help from those whom he has insulted and is, in the end, apologetic. He speaks with a Liverpudlian accent.

  • "I think someone's jealous."

  • "I wouldn't take it too personally, mind you."

  • "Oi, where's Gordon? I thought he was with you."

Sir Topham Hatt is firm but funny and fair. He can be strict, but with a good reason and he deeply cares about the engines and also shows a fatherly side to them. He is quite a strong character and will remind the engines that he is in charge if they start to rebel against his authority. He does not stand bullying and even though he is usually serious, he does enjoy a good jolly laugh. He speaks with a deep Yorkshire accent.

  • "Now, while Donald and Douglas are being repaired at the works, I will need two engines to fill in for their snowplow duties. Gordon, I want you and Flying Scotsman to perform the task of clearing the mainline."

  • "Henry shall take your Express while you're busy elsewhere."

  • "Well, you may be famous, Flying Scotsman, but you're not a museum piece. Besides, consider this a bit of bonding experience between you two. Now, I better be off now. I've got a very important meeting to attend to.
