“MUTE.” | Dark Gacha Film | VOICE ACTORS NEEDED 🎤

Project Overview

Mute. is an original psychological thriller including drawn animation, gacha life, club and 2. It starts soft and slowly unravels into something much darker. It tells the story of Aure, a girl with a neurological disorder leaving her unable to talk who is constantly overlooked and mistreated by her family, classmates, and society. Her identical twin sister Mira is everything she isn’t: loved, confident, and vocal.

What no one realizes is that Aure has a sharp, terrifying inner world. While she’s seen as emotionless and harmless, her silence hides violent thoughts, obsessive memories, and an increasing disconnect from humanity. Through inner narration, we witness her descent — not into madness, but into clarity.

Told from both Aure and Mira’s perspectives, Mute. is a slow-burn character-driven film about sisterhood, resentment, isolation, and the terrifying things people overlook until it’s too late.

This is a passion project produced under SP STUDIO. Roles are unpaid but fully credited. Voice actors of all experience levels are encouraged to audition. Communication will occur through discord you must join the server.

Mira is the twin sister of Aure — everything her sister is not. She’s outgoing, confident, loved by her father, and accepted by the world. On the surface, she’s a golden child — social, expressive, and strong-willed. But deep down, she’s struggling to understand the growing darkness in her family, and in her sister.

Mira is not a villain, but she is deeply flawed. She chooses ignorance over confrontation. Her arc is one of love, denial, and tragic self-realization. Voice Style:

Medium-high teen girl. Emotional range from cheerful to scared, from bossy to devastated. She should sound like someone who believes she’s right, even when she’s hurting people.

Energetic, expressive, but occasionally vulnerable.

  • “You’re so dramatic, Aure. Just because you won’t talk doesn’t mean I have to tiptoe around you.”

  • “No, don’t you dare—don’t touch him. What is wrong with you?"

  • “I loved you. I did. But I can’t save you if you don’t want to be saved.”

LEAD ROLE

 Character Description:

Aure is the mute twin — quiet, overlooked, and utterly voiceless in a world that already refuses to listen. To outsiders, she seems innocent and tragic: a girl who never speaks and never fights back. But inside her mind is a world of chaos, cold calculations, and slowly growing violence.

Her inner narration is soft at first — distant and observant. As the film progresses, it becomes darker, scarier, and more detached from morality.

She is the true heart of MUTE. — fragile, frightening, and impossible to ignore.

🎙️ Voice Style:

Soft, haunting, emotionally restrained narration. Early lines should feel like whispered thoughts — calm, poetic, numb. As her descent continues, the voice should grow more disconnected, sharp, and terrifying.

This is a voice-only internal role — no spoken dialogue outside narration.

  • “I can’t scream. But I can make sure they do.”

  • “The rabbit was still breathing. It twitched when I crushed it. They called it cruelty. I called it justice.”

  • “Everyone says Mira shines. I’m the shadow she leaves behind. They don’t notice shadows. They just step on them.”

VICTOR CAULDEN

Role assigned to: Derek Marr

Victor is the single father of Aure and Mira. Outwardly, he presents himself as a man who’s just “doing his best.” But behind closed doors, he’s dismissive, explosive, and terrifyingly unstable. He adores Mira and sees Aure as broken — a shameful defect he can’t fix. He may be human… but he is absolutely not safe.

His voice is firm, often angry, and occasionally plays at false calm — especially in public.

🎙️ Voice Style:

Adult male. Medium-deep voice with a harsh edge. Should feel commanding and unpredictable.

Must be able to switch between fake warmth and sharp aggression.

  • “Smile for the guests, Aure. Come on, use those lips for something useful.”

  • “Are you completely useless? Or just lazy?”

  • “You think I don’t know what you’re planning? You think I don’t see it in your eyes?”

ROWAN MAINE

Rowan is Mira’s quiet, empathetic love interest — the one person who treats both sisters with kindness. He’s thoughtful, observant, and sensitive… and completely unaware that Aure is developing an unhealthy obsession with him. His presence is calming, but that peace becomes the very thing that triggers Aure’s rage.

Rowan represents the world Mira deserves — which is exactly why he’s doomed.

🎙️ Voice Style:

Teen boy (or androgynous voice). Soft-spoken but grounded. He should sound like someone who listens more than he speaks — warm, careful, and sincere.

  • “You don’t have to explain everything. Sometimes silence says more than words ever could.”

  • “Your sister… she’s not just shy. There’s something under there. I don’t know what, but it’s cold.”

  • “Aure.. You don't have to hurt me, i'd never steal her from you."

Ben is a student at the same school as the twins. He isn’t a major player in the social scene — but he’s curious, skeptical, and nosy. After catching Aure doing something unsettling, Ben becomes suspicious of her and tries to warn others. That curiosity will eventually cost him his life.

This role expands throughout the film. Ben is a contrast to Aure — a normal teen reacting to something he doesn’t understand. His fear builds slowly and should feel increasingly genuine. The actor should be comfortable shifting from casual confidence to rising panic.

  • “You know what? Never mind. I didn’t see anything. Stay weird, I guess.”

  • "You guys don’t get it. There’s something wrong with her. I saw it.”

  • “Aure? Look— I won’t tell anyone, okay? I swear. Just… don’t come any closer.”

TAYLOR BANKS

 Character Description:

Taylor is cruel, popular, and relentless. She’s the type who picks on quiet kids because it’s easy — especially when the adults look away. She represents the kind of peer pressure and casual cruelty that makes Aure feel invisible and unsafe.

 Voice Style:

Teen girl. Sharp, cocky, fake-nice in front of teachers. Should be able to sound sarcastic, mocking, and emotionally cruel.

  • "Your twin? Is she adopted?"

  • “She just stands there like a mannequin. Maybe someone unplugged her?”

  • "God, no wonder your sister pretends she's not related to you."

MS. HALL

 Character Description:

Ms. Hall is the twins’ teacher — overly sweet, subtly condescending, and part of the adult world that continually fails Aure. She’s not evil, but she’s careless — the kind of teacher who praises Mira’s participation and gently scolds Aure for her “lack of effort.”

 Voice Style:

Adult woman. Overly polite tone with fake-sweet energy. Should feel like someone who treats quiet children like a burden she’s trying to smile through.

  • “Class! Let’s give a big warm welcome to Mira and… her sister. Aure, is it?”

  • “If she’s not willing to participate, I don’t know how we can help her.”

  • “We all have a voice, dear. You just have to choose to use it.”

The twins’ mother is only seen in multiple key flashbacks before her tragic death. She’s the only person who ever showed Aure true love and understanding, despite her being mute. In her final scene, she’s terrified — a haunting memory from Aure’s past. Her time on screen has a deep emotional impact. (

YOUNG MIRA

Young Mira is the favored child — bubbly, chatty, and often oblivious to the way Aure is treated. She doesn’t understand why her sister never talks and sometimes echoes what she hears from their father. As the story progresses, cracks in her innocence show — especially when something dark happens at home.
