Project Overview

Fan-made parody of Mushoku Tensei – Jobless Reincarnation. A satirical take on a genre-defining classic, in a British comedic style. This anime series follows the life of Rudeus Greyrat, a NEET who, after dying and reincarnating into another world, resolves to live a fulfilling life this time around.

Welcome one and all to the casting for the third installment in the Mushoku Tensei Abridged series! We’ve got a selection of new characters to cast once again, including one incredibly important role to fill. These will all be paid roles, with further details to follow in the character descriptions. Feel free to audition for more than one role!


Update: 3 of the 4 roles are now closed! Thanks to everyone who submitted so far. We are still seeking auditions for the role of Ghislaine.


Mushoku Tensei Abridged is being posted on our YouTube channel.

Episode 1 released earlier this year, give it a watch! And then Episode 2 as well!

Essential Requirements:

·        A British accent (or able to fake it convincingly!)

·        Good quality recording equipment and space (no background noise/echo/reverb/etc)

·        Aged 18+

·        Able/comfortable to speak loudly or shout

·        Comfortable saying ridiculous/out of pocket things and profanity

·        Commitment long term as this is an ongoing series

·        Happy to have some fun with it!

 

Non-essentials (but handy to have):

·        Previous voice acting experience

·        Immersion in anime culture

·        Familiarity with the Mushoku Tensei anime (and light novels!)

·        Understanding of British culture and mannerisms

    Hey there!

    Thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to audition for a role in Mushoku Tensei Abridged.

    I’m still seeking auditions for the role of Ghislaine, but no longer accepting auditions for the roles of Eris, Philip and Kidnapper 2 as I have plenty of excellent submissions to choose from.

    I will be combing through the submissions to the now-closed roles and sending out invitations to callbacks shortly. Unfortunately, I’m restricted by the limitations of CCC’s free version, so it may take a few days to get to everyone I need to.

Eris, currently aged nine, is the granddaughter of the region's Lord and she knows it. She’s loud, demanding, and physically violent, making Rudeus (our Main Character)’s new life quite the challenge. She will eventually grow up and mellow out considerably, but this is what she is like at her introduction. She will be an incredibly important character for the rest of the story.


She has a very bratty, “annoying-little-sister” type voice. And of course, in keeping with the theme, she needs to have a British English accent. Despite her rude attitude, she is of noble birth, and so she’ll speak with a posh, southern accent, even while swearing and being generally abrasive.


A word of warning for those unfamiliar with the source material, this character will have some uncomfortable scenes in later episodes, so be prepared.

Ghislaine (with a silent s) is a very tall, very broad and very underdressed cat-woman. A former adventurer, she is a master of the sword, and is now employed as Eris’ sword-skills instructor.

She’s from a tribe of jungle-dwelling cat-people, so she’s a little wild and rough around the edges as a person, and she definitely doesn’t mince her words. She has a cockney accent, and a fairly deep voice.

Philip is the mayor of the fictional town of Luton (which may or may not be named after the very real town of Luton) and is Eris’ father. He’s very protective of her, and doesn’t acknowledge her terrible behaviour because he just can’t see it.

Being a member of the nobility, he’s of course incredibly posh in his speech and mannerisms. He should also have a very whimsical, sing-song quality to his voice for most of his lines. However, there will also be some points where all his whimsy disappears for dramatic effect, like when talking about his cousin, Paul. Of course, this should all be with a posh, South-English accent.

As his name implies, he’s not exactly an upstanding citizen. He’s been paid to kidnap Eris on behalf of someone else, but of course, his nefarious plans are swiftly thwarted in the dumbest way possible.


He is an older guy with a nasally voice and a chavvy, roadman-esque manner of speech. (A dialect of English spoken mostly in North London and some rougher surrounding towns such as Stevenage and Luton. If you're unfamiliar, there are some guides to the dialect online).


(And if you’re wondering, there was a Kidnapper 1 in an early draft of the script, but his scene got cut, so only Kidnapper 2 remains.)
