Morning Star Danganronpa: Devil's Whisper
Project Overview
Synopsis
Morning Sun Danganronpa: Devil’s Whisper is a Danganronpa fan project that follows the story of 12 people from all over the world, coming in various ages and from diverse backgrounds, who were kidnapped and forced to play a reality show, that’s apparently being broadcasted to the entire world, inside the “Stella Matutina” cruise ship. This reality show consists of a killing game where the participants must kill each other and get away with it in order to escape. Otherwise, all of them must remain inside the cruise for the rest of their lives with no contact with the outside world. The story does not take place in Danganronpa’s canonical universe, and it strays away from the usual “Ultimate Talent” formula, as it seeks to captivate the feeling of the characters being people you could meet in your everyday life. We have no affiliation with Spike Chunsoft, NISA, or the official Danganronpa brand.
About the formatIn canon, the characters’ lives will be recorded by various cameras scattered across the cruise, and that will be convened as an audio drama outside of canon. All audio will be released on the project’s official youtube page.
Expectations for voice actorsAll voice actors will be expected to use Discord. The entire project will be in English, and voice actors are expected to be fluent in English. Though, due to the characters coming from diverse areas of the world, accents are deeply appreciated and sometimes recommended. The scripts for the prologue and the entirety of chapter 1 are already written and completed, and chapter 2 is already in progress, meaning that recordings are expected to start soon after casting is complete, making the delivery of lines a relatively fast-paced process. Voice actors should be able to follow this pace and deliver lines regularly. All of the information you need to know about the characters are in their character tab, and, excluding personality, aren’t strictly mandatory and creative liberties are allowed to be taken in auditions. The primary factor considered for auditions is audio quality. All auditions will be considered as long as it contains high-quality audio.
Several sensitive topics will be covered, which includes: Violence, death, horror, screaming, crying, abuse, suicide and mental disorders.

Participant 1 is a distrustful and aloof woman who doesn’t like the idea of having to cooperate with others. She’s brash and loses her patience fairly quickly. She has been using a fake identity for the longest time, that not even the host could find out who she really is.
Mid pitched voice preferred! A taut sounding voice, teetering between anxiety and anger. Her age and location is unknown.

Participant 2 is a famous idol all over the world, stealing hearts with her charm and loving words. A social butterfly through and through, always lighting up any room she enters. Participant 2 made her debut some years ago, and has already taken the world by storm.
Mid-to-high pitch is preferred, but range is highly important for this character, as her voice tends to go lower at certain points. A honeyed and easily excitable sounding voice, but able to go quieter and more tired/detached. She’s 24 and is from Japan. Being able to sing is an added bonus for this character, while not mandatory, please leave a snippet of your singing.

Participant 3 is a socially awkward and “inept” boy. He is often found alone, even if he doesn't actually enjoy it. Conversations with him often are very hard, because he doesn't know what to say most of the time, and either gives lackluster and stuttered responses, or none at all. Most consider him very weird, which does make him rather sad, but he doesn't complain.
A mid-to-low pitch is preferred. He talks fairly slowly, and his voice should be blunt and dull sounding. He’s 27 and from England. A British accent is preferred but not mandatory.

Participant 4 is a caring person who puts extra effort to make sure the people around him are comfortable and safe, which makes him sort of a peacemaker among the group. It also gives him quite the fatherly impression, which is fitting, considering that he is, in fact, a father. Ironically, while he is kind to others, he certainly isn't kind to himself. He seems to be extremely tired at all times, barely sleeping even before arriving at the game.
A low-pitch is preferred! His voice should sound smokey, hoarse and raspy, while also having a caring tone. Participant 4 smoked cigarettes throughout most of his life, and that should reflect on his voice. He is 68 years old and from Denmark.

“[sigh], time is the most precious thing a human has… And when you realize you wasted away your whole life without doing anything you hoped for, and that there’s no coming back… That’s a pain that can destroy someone. That’s not something I’d wish on anyone.” (Reflective/Regretful)
Participant 5 is a charismatic teenage boy, being the top of the food chain back at his old high school. He was quite the influential figure, always the center of attention in every room he walked into. Erkki looks like a really caring and soft person on the outside, which tends to make him a nice person to hang out with. He's a social and extroverted person that knows how to have a good time, though he can act quite cowardly if he’s under enough pressure.
Mid pitch is preferred. His voice should sound appealing and carefree whenever he’s feeling relaxed, and a more tight one when he loses his composure. He’s 17 and from Finland.

Participant 6 is not a very bright individual, they are the textbook definition of a ticking bomb. Anything can set them off, even looking at them in a way that could make them see you as a threat. They're impulsive, hot-headed, and loud, often picking up fights with people they really shouldn't and not being able to stand their own.
Mid-to-high pitch preferred! Their voice should sound raucous with a fearful undertone. Participant 6 is non-binary, and their voice should be more on the masculine to androgynous side. They’re 29 years old and from Argentina.

Participant 7 is patient, polite, and respectful to all, never ignoring one's needs and requests. He's a classic gentleman, through and through. Opening doors for others, doing volunteer work, carrying an old lady's shopping bags, everything that you'd expect from someone like him, he's done it. He tries to respect others's boundaries and not do anything they don't want him to do, but he can be quite overbearing at times, especially to those he really cares about.
A mid-to-high pitch is preferred. His voice should sound honeyed and give off a comforting feeling to who he is talking to. Participant 7 is a transgender male, and transgender male VAs are preferred, but anyone is free to audition! He is 17 years old and from Brazil.

Ace of his class, a loner in his school, and a huge nerd at heart, that would be the best way to describe Participant 8. He's a quiet, but smart young man, which unfortunately for him, doesn't make him really popular or well-liked. He tends to stay on his own, not being good at getting out of his comfort zone and actually putting himself out there.
Mid-to-low pitch is preferred. He should be softly-spoken and have anxious undertones. He’s 17 and from Finland.

Participant 9 is caring, motherly, housekeeper and diligent. She's currently in her second year of art college, trying to pursue one of her dreams of being an illustrator for a children's book. Speaking of children, she's VERY fond of them and keeps talking about how she'd love to be a mother one day.
Mid-to-low pitch is preferred. Her voice should sound loving and caring. She’s 54 and from the Philippines. A Filipino accent and VA is preferred, but not mandatory. Anyone is free to audition!

Participant 10 is polite, nice, and a good-listener, but that's basically it. They're way too quiet for their own good, mostly just standing in the background at all times. They seem to say whatever is expected of them, and sacrifice whatever little personality they have in order to just 'fit in'. They really want others to see them as 'normal', and believe that they're normal, but they end up being so normal that they feel alien and inhuman.
Any pitch is preferred! Their voice should come out as matter-of-fact and monotonous. They’re 24 and from the USA.

Participant 11 is what anyone would expect from a child her age: innocent, naive, gullible and optimistic. She has always dreamed of becoming someone who'd help others when she grows up, someone who will work hard on making this world a better place. She sometimes is way too selfless for her own good, as all that she wants to do is help, which could make her pretty easy to manipulate, because she's way too trusting.
High pitch is highly preferred. Her voice should sound friendly and excitable, while also being able to sound fairly mature at times. She’s 9 years old and from Scotland. A Scottish accent is preferred, but not mandatory.

Participant 12 doesn't allow herself to get attached to anyone and does not care about forming relationships with her fellow participants. Though the reason for her apathy towards others is unknown. She prefers to stay on her own solitude, but doesn't actually go out of her way to stay alone. Though, it’s hard to place your trust on her, as she’s a very dangerous individual.
Mid-to-low pitch is preferred. Her voice should come off as penetrating and intimidating, being easily able to grab a whole group’s attention. She’s 32 and from Japan.

An over the top and energetic TV host with a sadistic sense of humor. He disregards others’ feelings and pains for the sake of his own entertainment, viewing the participants of his game as nothing but pawns that are eventually going to die. But he still puts on a TV show host facade and pretends that this is nothing but entertainment to his viewers.
Mid-to-high pitch is preferred. He should talk in a quick, loud and exaggerated manner, in a way that demands attention from viewers. His age and where he came from is unknown.
