More Missions

Project Overview

This casting call is for the role of Derek "Monst3r" Mossman for More Missions, a fanmade mod/DLC for the Klei Entertainment cyberpunk game Invisible Inc.

In the game, Monst3r is voiced by Michael Dobson. We weren't able to have the original voice actor reprise his role, so we're looking for a soundalike. The custom voice lines from our mod will show up in game alongside existing official lines, so they will need to blend as seamlessly as possible. So, put plainly, we are looking for someone who can sound as close as possible to to Michael Dobson's VA work on the character. In the role info section, you will find links to audio files of the original voice acting.

What we offer:

  • Paid work. Our mod is made by fans for a free release, so our budget is based on community fundraising. On the other hand, if you're truly perfect for this role, we will find a way to meet your rates and may even expand the role to include more lines.

  • Flexible schedule. We have very low-stakes deadlines, since this is all just for fun. We just want to make a great mod, even if it takes a while. Choose your own recording schedule, within reason.

  • Additional paid opportunities in the future if you impress. We're working on many mods for the game and many of them would do well with Monst3r voice lines.

What we need from you:

  • Match the character's existing voiceover (pitch, delivery, level of sass, accent) as closely as possible. This is the most important thing, other considerations are secondary. If you're the perfect person for the job, we'll find a way to make it work.

  • Ideally: Your own recording equipment. We cannot arrange the recording for you, so it's best if you have a quality home recording setup.

  • Ideally: Payment via Paypal

Auditioning

In the role description, you will find a link to some samples of the original voice acting for you to match. Try to imitate those as closely as possible in your audition lines.

Deadline

September 15th, 2022. We may extend this deadline until we find the perfect candidate.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Role assigned to: Benjamin Hawkins

Monst3r is a supporting character in the game Invisible Inc., and in our mod for it. He is a 46-year-old hacker and black market tech salesman in the year 2074. He has a personal history with Olivia Gladstone, the no-nonsense middle-aged leader of the spy agency the player controls.

Monst3r's personality is outwardly materialistic and snarky. He talks a big game about business and his reputation, but he's got a deep core of loyalty to Olivia, even if he no longer has any faith in her cause (bringing down the corporations). He has a "bickering old married couple" dynamic with Olivia and most of his lines will be in response to Olivia's lines.

The word count is currently around 400, but the role can be expanded if the candidate does a particularly impressive job with it.

Important: Voiced versions of half of the audition lines below can be listened to here. To reiterate, this is the original voice actor - we want you to match him as closely as possible. You can also listen to additional lines by him here.

To finish this off, below are several official backstory blurbs for Derek "Monst3r" Mossman:

Derek puts on an air of self-interest, but he's got more skin in this game than he's willing to admit. He saw the nasty side of corporate power as an orphan back in Manchester, and he's never forgotten it. He's able to put some of those feelings aside for the sake of business, but when the chips are really down he can still be counted upon. When I was captured, the agency wrote me off. I don't blame them - not many people walk out of a deprogramming chamber the same person they went in as. But Derek kept looking. He tracked down the facility where they were holding me, and was able to remotely hijack a nanofab within. A single neural disrupter in the right hands at the right time can make all the difference in the world.
                         - Olivia Gladstone, on Monst3r

Derek Mossman was a skilled, self-taught hacker who stole and cheated his way out of post-industrial Manchester. His curiosity for exotic technologies far outstripped his means, and he originally joined the PEIA to gain access to the newest toys. Gladstone could see his potential and took him under her wing. Their fortunes at the agency raised together, and when Gladstone took charge she appointed him her second-in-command. While Derek is a serviceable agent, his true skills lay in logistics. His ability to produce credits and material seemingly out of thin air kept the PEIA fighting strong until the bitter end of the conflict. After the war, he would use those same skills to create one the most extensive private information gathering networks on the planet.
                                                              - official backstory

  • "Keep this short - I can't afford pulling down any more heat at the moment.".

"The more you buy and sell, the closer I get to retirement. Funny how the house always wins."

"Me and Gladstone go way back. She ever tell you how we met? I was her chief tech officer in the PanEuro cyber-interdiction force. We put up a good fight, but it was a dead cause. In the end, the corporations just had the most toys."

  • "Do try not to break that. My clients are incredibly particular about the number of pieces they prefer their merchandise to be in."

"Something strange is going on here. The equipment at this research site is like nothing I've seen before. Certainly not at this corporation."

"I suppose this particular death is on me. I put them in touch with you, after all."
