HELLO AT EVERYONE. THIS IS AN INTRODUCTION
MMO Dramatis is a Youtube audio drama that I am starting, almost entirely out of my love for MMORPGs, and because I want to create more original content. The entire story centers around two people: Faust (herr-derr played by me) and Baller (who will not be played by me, after the casting call is done), as they enjoy adventures in an Augmented Reality MMORPG called Dramatis.
Dramatis is a strange beast of a game. It's world is medieval fantasy, filled with references to things like King Arthur, and gigantic tentacle monsters. And yet... There are some very modern things, like corn dogs just being sold on the streets. It's developers clearly know how to have fun with their concept, and everyone in the drama's world, loves it.
MMO Dramatis will have two things going on with it: shorts and a bigger series. The shorts will be generally a minute long, and filled to the brim with jokes and fun moments (as shown in the explainer video above). They're the adventures the characters go on while the bigger series is going on, with their main draw being references to the essential MMO bits and pieces. The bigger series will have a more serious tone, but still have some fun and comedic moments. It'll be a tale of someone who is breaking away from playing MMOs, while another is just getting started and really into it due to his own reasons. One person is trying to live in reality, after staying away from it for so long, while the other is trying to escape it. It's a tale that I really want to show everyone, and I can't wait for it to be fully realized.
CHARACTERS
Now, what's a good story without characters? A... Pretty bland one. So these are the ones present, in Episode one.
Faust/Liam Cason (Played by me...)
One of the two main characters of the series, Faust (irl name: Liam) was a professional gamer and was well regarded for his skill in various genres, his preferred being MMOs. He would often win in fighting game tournaments,however he soon stopped doing so, due to pressure from his parents, and loss of interest. He still kept up with the gaming scene, buying an AR helmet to play with other friends, but his... Apathy towards gaming was still increasing. He had nearly given up playing video games all together, before his old best friend Dorian Wong texted him and asked if he had Dramatis. Liam did, and thus decided that he would help his old friend out with the game.
Faust is generally sarcastic. He plays a mage in Dramatis, and is at the maximum level for the game. He has vast amounts of knowledge in the game, and generally gets exasperated whenever Baller does something strange.
Baller/Dorian Wong
One of two main characters of the series, Baller (irl name: Dorian) was an incredible athlete, remembered by those around him for his love of running and swords. He and Liam met through a Kendo class, and quickly became friends despite their differences in tastes. It was always thought by those around Dorian that he would become famous, and he had gotten many scholarships from various colleges. He left his hometown for a famous college out of state, which also had a national fencing team. He got into contact with Liam five years after he left, and wanted to see if his friend could help him figure out Dramatis.
Baller is pretty much your shonen protagonist. He's very energetic, and will often shout his words out. He's a very curious person, but also acts like he knows what's going on, even when he really doesn't. He kinda believes that his sword skills in real life, mean a lot in the game, but... Those are just not complimented by his early game stats. He's still a good person at heart, and very determined at every goal he sets for himself.
For his voice, I want something a bit deep, but capable of going higher if needed. The voice I use for Faust, is pretty high up there, and I want Baller's voice deeper than Faust's. Think of Johnny Yong Bosche in comparison to Yuri Lowenthal. He needs to be able to pull off a shonen shout, and act appropriately dramatic when he does go dramatic.
Of course, I will add more characters as time goes on. And there are more in the call for his episode. It's just that these two are the mains, and I really want Baller to be nailed.
AND NOW AUDITION RULES
1. Pleeeeeease have a decent mic. Now, I'm not asking for a professional quality recording, nor an expensive microphone, but the recording needs to be clear.
2. Please provide 2-3 takes per line.
3. Please be nice to others auditioning. Don't be a rude jack ass.
4. Please have fun with it! This project is meant to be fun, and if you're not having fun, then have fun pls.
SAD LITTLE NOTE
On a more sad note, I won't be able to pay anyone as of yet. I do not have a paying job, as of yet. However if this project manages to pick up funding, whether through Youtube or whatever else I need to use, I will be sure to compensate any work done. For that you have my solemn vow.
