Nikita "Empress" Vega Producer Tag Voice & Musical Choir Texture | UPDATE

Project Overview

NEW UPDATE / RECASTING FOR AN EXISTING PROJECT

This is an updated casting call for a project that was originally filled about a year and a half ago. I've had the opportunity to work with some amazing people and develop this character considerably since then, but I feel it's time to explore a new voice, tonality, and overall musical identity for her.

I'm casting the voice of my OC Nikita “Empress” Vega, a character heavily tied to my music and its atmosphere.

Empress is powerful, confident, cunning, unpredictable, and secretly malicious. She has a split personality with different emotional registers, ranging from commanding and controlled to intimate, dreamy, unstable, and occasionally completely unhinged.

What I'm Looking For

This is not strictly a traditional voice acting role anymore.

While spoken lines and the producer tag “Empress” are still an important part of the character, I'm especially interested in someone musical who can help develop original vocal textures that can actually become part of the music itself.

Things I'd love to explore include:

  • Airy “ahh,” “ooh,” “eeh,” and other sustained vowel pads

  • Soft humming and melodic humming

  • Vocal drones and atmospheric layers

  • Choir-style layers and stacked vocals

  • Harmonies and octave layers

  • Breathy / whispered musical textures

  • Morphing between vowels and tones

  • Ethereal, angelic, haunting, dark, or melancholic textures

  • Short melodic phrases and ad-libs

  • Experimental vocal SFX and breaths

  • Multiple takes intended to be layered and heavily processed

  • Spatial / binaural recordings if your setup supports them

You do not need to be a professional singer, but good pitch control, musical intuition, and the ability to comfortably sustain and experiment with your voice would be extremely valuable.

Some of these recordings may sound very simple in isolation. A sustained “ahh” or a quiet hum can become something completely different once it's layered, stretched, pitched, reversed, reverberated, and incorporated into a track. I'm specifically looking for someone interested in experimenting with that process.

Voice / Character Direction

The core of Empress is confidence with something genuinely wrong underneath it. She is powerful, self-assured, dominant, and completely comfortable with who she is, but she is not mentally stable.

I want someone capable of making her feel genuinely unpredictable and disturbed rather than simply “evil” or theatrically crazy. She can be calm, intelligent, seductive, almost comforting, and then suddenly snap into something manic, paranoid, obsessive, furious, euphoric, or completely detached. Sometimes the switch should be dramatic; other times it should be subtle enough that you only realize halfway through a line that something has changed.

Laughing at inappropriate moments. Sudden changes in pacing. Words becoming strangely intimate or obsessive. A perfectly controlled sentence breaking into breathless excitement. Anger disappearing into eerie calm just as quickly as it appeared. Moments where she sounds almost sweet before something deeply unsettling slips through.

The important part is that none of it should feel forced or “cartoon crazy.” I want the instability to feel believable and uncomfortable, like there genuinely isn't a predictable emotional baseline underneath her.

There are a LOT of different personalities, inflections, and emotional extremes I eventually want to explore once someone is cast, so I absolutely do not expect one audition to demonstrate her entire range.

Her primary producer tag is simply: “Empress.”

I'd like multiple interpretations of it, from commanding and controlled to breathy, euphoric, fractured, intimate, unstable, and completely unhinged, so different versions can become part of different songs and moods.

Screaming / horror / “scream queen” ability is a huge bonus, but not required. Musicality, emotional range, unusual vocal textures, and the ability to convincingly switch between radically different states are ultimately much more important.

Recording Quality

Please have a high-quality recording setup suitable for music production.

A clean recording with a low noise floor is very important because many recordings will be heavily processed, layered, compressed, stretched, or placed prominently within otherwise sparse sections of music.

If you have an unusual setup, binaural microphones, multiple microphones, or other recording capabilities, please mention them. I LOVE experimenting with things like that.

Communication

Communication is extremely important to me.

I completely understand that everyone has their own schedule and life outside of projects. I'm not expecting immediate responses or constant availability.

However, because this is intended to be an ongoing creative collaboration, I need someone who communicates reasonably consistently. If I reach out after an audition to discuss your range, recording setup, limitations, availability, etc. and don't hear anything for over a week, I will most likely continue with another candidate.

You will never be pressured into recording something you're uncomfortable with. If there's something you can't or don't want to do, just tell me. I'd much rather know someone's boundaries and work creatively within them.

The Bigger Goal

I'm not looking for someone to record one word and disappear.

If we work well together and you enjoy voicing Empress, I'd love to develop a library of original vocals, textures, pads, tags, SFX, and performances that can continue appearing throughout my music and future projects.

I want the voice to become part of the character's identity and part of the sound of the music itself.

Creative input is absolutely welcome. I have a very established idea of who Empress is, but I'm interested in finding someone who can bring something of their own to her rather than simply being directed through every individual sound.

I’m looking for a new voice actress to become the voice of my OC and music persona, Nikita “Empress” Vega.

Nikita is powerful, cunning, seductive, unstable, and secretly malicious. She has a fractured personality that can shift from calm, calculated, and controlled to completely unhinged. Her voice should feel commanding and dangerous, even when she is barely speaking. Think gothic authority, concealed insanity, calculated cruelty, and a presence that can be felt before she ever raises her voice.

The primary producer tag is only one word: “Empress.”

After working with the same voice for Nikita and this producer tag for the past year and a half, I’ve decided it is time for a change. I want to expand the character and give her more emotional range, stronger tonal variety, different inflections, and more personality overall.

The goal is to find someone who can take a single word and make it feel completely different depending on the performance. I want to explore versions that feel melancholic, seductive, commanding, sinister, furious, unstable, playful, cold, whispering, calculated, and completely deranged.

The main inflection I am looking for is powerful, unstable, and intensely expressive, while still leaving enough space for heavy reverb, delay, and atmospheric processing. I do not necessarily need constant screaming or maximum volume. I need a performance with strong projection, clear pronunciation, controlled distortion, and enough emotion in the raw voice to survive beneath the effects. The word “Empress” should feel commanding, dangerous, and slightly unhinged, with stretched vowels or deliberate pauses that can bloom naturally into the atmosphere of the track. Even after the voice fades into the reverb, the listener should still feel Nikita’s presence hanging in the air.

However, that is only one side of Nikita.

I want the ability to experiment with more emotions, tonalities, vocal textures, and personality shifts. One take may sound elegant and controlled, while another may sound like she is barely containing her anger. Another may feel manipulative, amused, obsessive, threatening, emotionally broken, or completely insane.

Bonus points if you can perform convincing horror screams, rage screams, distressed breathing, crying, unsettling laughter, growls, vocal breaks, or sudden shifts between personalities. I want to hear the difference between Nikita being composed, Nikita losing control, and the darker personality hiding underneath.

A high-quality recording setup is required. Please have a professional or production-quality microphone, a clean recording environment, and a very low noise floor. Raw, unprocessed WAV recordings are preferred.

Vocalist / Vocal Texture Artist

This role is specifically for the musical and atmospheric side of the project. Traditional voice acting is being cast separately.

I'm looking for a vocalist with strong pitch control, a clean/airy tone, and an interest in experimental vocal recording and sound design. These recordings will primarily be used as layers and textures within Wave/Phonk/Electronic music, often with significant processing afterward.

I'm especially interested in:

  • Airy sustained Ahh / Ooh / Eeh vocals

  • Smooth vowel morphs and evolving vocal pads

  • Humming and melodic textures

  • Ethereal / angelic / haunting tones

  • Choir-style vocals and stacked harmonies

  • Breathier, intimate layers

  • Drones and long sustained notes

  • Short melodies and improvised vocal phrases

  • Multiple takes for layering, harmonizing, pitching, reversing, stretching, reverb, etc.

  • Experimental vocal sounds and textures

You do not need to be a traditional lead singer. I'm much more interested in tone, control, musicality, and the ability to make your voice sound interesting as an instrument.

A high-quality microphone and clean recording environment with a low noise floor are required. Binaural / stereo / unusual microphone setups are also a HUGE plus.

Creative experimentation is encouraged. I have references and specific sounds I'm chasing, but I also want to hear what your voice can naturally do.

  • Sustain a soft, airy “Ahh → Ooh → Eeh,” smoothly morphing between each vowel. Hold each long enough to demonstrate pitch and tone.

  • Create a short wordless melody using humming, “Ahh,” “Ooh,” or any combination. Improvise something you feel fits an ethereal, dark, dreamlike atmosphere.

  • Show me something YOUR voice does especially well. This can be a harmony, choir tone, unusual texture, vocal run, layered idea, or another musical vocal technique. Surprise me.
