MC is shy but also defiant and outspoken when someone is being mistreated. Her voice is very normal and has no unique traits since she represents the reader.
I didn't come here hoping to become the princess anyway. I'm just a simple home tutor. I can't even imagine what a life as a princess would be like.
(unsure) Is
this all right? Me wearing this dress, I mean.(defensive) But that wasn't a story! This whole ordeal took on a life of its own.
Byron Wagner is the king of the enemy kingdom Stein, but all he wants is for Wysteria and Stein to get along. He portrays almost no emotions so he doesn't show weakness, so he is easily confused by extreme emotions. His voice is very low and regal, and he has the signature Stein accent, English/British.
(firm, but no concern) What's wrong? Can you stand?
(faintly irritated) And here I thought Wysteria was meant to be peaceful. I suppose it can't be helped in this case.
(authoritative) Speak, Albert.
Alyn Crawford is the captain of the Royal Guard and the princess's right-hand knight. He's usually very skeptical of situations and doesn't smile very often; when he does, it's in a sarcastic manner. His voice has a slight roughness to it and it's somewhat low.
(annoyed) Please
tell me this isn't what it looks like.(teasing) Don't mention it. Now do what you have to. Just don't go making any more trouble.
(angry) I
can't believe I fell for that story of yours.
Leo Crawford is Alyn's twin brother but is the friendlier of the two. He's very flirtatious and charming and is also very relaxed. He doesn't seem to take his bureaucrat status seriously. His voice is very smooth and in the higher registers. Just think of a confident pretty boy voice.
(with attitude) Can't
have the new princess elect not knowing who I am after all.(charming) I'm
Leo Crawford, but you can just call me Leo. Enchanted to meet you, Princess.(relaxed) Leave
the difficult stuff up to Giles and you'll find most things work themselves
out.
Nico Meier is the princess's personal assistant, but he's also a former knight to the king of Stein. He's very chipper and always tries to encourage MC. His voice is rough and high-pitched.
(panicked) It's
the king! Hurry!(encouraging) So,
how about that bold declaration in front of the king and palace officials?(sad) But Your Highness...what about
your life before the palace? Are you really okay with leaving that all behind?
Louis Howard is a duke of Wysteria and is very reserved. He's extremely soft spoken and doesn't express emotions hardly at all. He's said to be the prettiest man in Wysteria, so much that he looks like a doll. His voice is soft and medium-range.
(emotionless) You'd best leave immediately after finding your precious flower. The palace is no place for the likes of you.
(gentle) There,
that's better.(angry) Why are you the princess elect? Explain yourself.
Giles Christophe is the King's advisor and MC's princess tutor. He's extremely suave and smooth and often gets far too handsy for the princess's comfort. His voice is low and his accent is borderline English but not quite.
As advisor to His Majesty, I have been entrusted with the power to appoint and tutor the princess elect.
(coddling) Stand up straight. And mind the sighs, they're not becoming. You're the princess elect, after all.
(shocked) Princess!
Robert Branche is a royal painter, both for Stein and Wysteria. He also tutored the princess a few years ago, and now gives her advice when she visits him in his study in the palace. He's very kind and soft spoken. He has a French accent and his voice is smooth and slightly low.
(happy) I
knew it! It is you, MC!I
don't believe I have any right to stop the princess. Besides, I'd like to
support you.(to himself) This is a strange turn of
events, isn't it, MC?
Sid is a spy who steals information from Wysteria and reports it to King Byron in Stein, but he also gives information about Stein to Wysteria as well; he's on nobody's side. He's extremely confident and sly, and very sarcastic. He has a thick cockney accent and his voice is slightly low.
(sly) Long time no see, Byron. I've got a very interesting tidbit of information I think Stein would find quite useful.
(serious) Wysteria has just selected its new princess elect, or so I hear.
Albert Burckhardt is King Byron's personal assistant and bodyguard. He's snide and very irritable, especially with Nico. He's very articulated and his voice is low.
(skeptical) Sid
has come with what he claims to be vital information.(surprised) A
new princess?
There are various roles that only have a few lines. Many people will fill this role.
(a bureaucrat) There
never was a more inopportune time for His Majesty to fall ill.(MC's student) See
these flowers? They say they grow in the palace courtyard. And they grant
wishes.(a woman candidate) Oh, it's Chamberlain Giles!
