Magi Comic Dub: ALMA TORRAN ARC

Sheba was a Magician from Alma Torran and one of the wielders of the 72 Divine Staves.

PERSONALITY:

As a child, Sheba had a narrow-minded view of the world as she was being raised, believing everything to be impure. She had a bit of a short temper with Solomon and grew rather violent when she felt threatened. However, she is shown to have a softer side.

VOICE:

High/Medium-High, show flexibility between being able to portray a shrewd and judgmental girl to having warmth at the realization of making a friend. Can have a bit of vocal fry for a hissy tone when she loses her temper/gets flustered.

PERSONALITY:

Sheba has a more open and confident personality as she talks more to Ugo and the others. She becomes very happy and enthusiastic whenever Solomon talks to her now.

She is very loyal to Solomon and understands him the most in his decision to become the king while trying his best to bring happiness to everyone.

VOICE:

Medium-High/Medium, still has a shrill edge to her voice whenever she gets flustered, but the warmth of her voice comes out more now that she is more confident with her friends. I imagine her speech pattern and tone is most similar to Aladdin (for anyone that would like to refer to the English dub voice of Aladdin), her future son.

Solomon Jehoahaz Abraham was the King who unified Alma Torran. He was the heir to the council of The Orthodox Church until he realised race cruelty. He was the wielder of one of the 72 Divine Staves.

PERSONALITY:

A shrewd observer, Solomon was calm, prudent, and remarkably wise for his age. He was an avid reader, culturologist, strategist, scientist and magician, and was therefore often seen carrying around a book or animatedly discussing various subjects with his companions (especially Ugo). He also had a habit of acting like an excited child whenever he encountered things unknown to him and would immediately investigate so as to better understand the object of his attention.

He was never afraid of telling people what he really thought of them, which would sometimes cause others to perceive him as far too blunt or even downright rude. This was far from true, however, as Solomon was a careful and calculating thinker who had a very deep and personal understanding of honour, compassion, and tolerance, and strove to prove just how important they were. He wanted to make the world a place where all species could live in peace, prosperity, and equality.

He treasured and respected his friends immensely and became visibly chagrined if they treated him as superior. Despite his typically serious nature, he enjoyed spending quality time with them and having fun. Solomon also feared that he could one day become as supercilious as his father and pleaded with Arba to help keep him "grounded" in order to prevent such a thing from happening. Sheba once described him as "an absolutely incredible person", but also a "nagging and stubborn father figure".

VOICE:

At 17 y/o: Medium, adolescent voice with clean diction and a mature tone.

At 22 y/o: Medium-Low or Low, maintain that clean diction and matured voice with vocal depth.

Arba is one of Solomon's Three Wise Magi from Alma Torran and the maternal ancestor of Gyokuen Ren and her children. Before becoming a Magi, she was an essential part of Solomon's resistance to overthrow the Orthodox Church whom she was formerly a member of. She was second in magic only to Solomon, and the wielder of one of the Divine Staves. She is the Magi who betrayed Solomon and formed Al-Thamen.

PERSONALITY:

Arba seemed to be quite caring when she was first introduced, as she tried to make Sheba feel welcome after the latter was rescued from the tower. Arba continuously displayed deep and genuine loyalty towards Solomon, always referring to him as "young master," despite the latter's assertion that this was not necessary with her no longer being his servant. She is fearless in battle and refuses to show her enemies mercy. Arba apparently had a rather impish side too. Arba is also extremely fervent in her belief of Ill Illah (the current God of the world).

In the later half of the arc, Arba started to act strangely. She is now devious, cunning and heartless.

VOICE:

Medium/Medium-Low, looking for someone that can capture the mature tone of Arba, and to show range from being warm and big-sisterly to becoming psychotic and unhinged due to her rigid beliefs. When she's kind, I want to feel that, and when she's losing her sanity, I want to be scared of her.

Uraltugo Noi Nueph, better known as Ugo, is first thought to be the Djinn of Aladdin, though he is later revealed to belong to King Solomon. He is a former Magi from Alma Torran and the wielder of one of the 72 Divine Staves.

PERSONALITY:

During his time at Alma Torran, he was considered cowardly. Despite his high intelligence, Falan and Ithnan seem to find his talk of magical theories and mathematics unbearable, earning him the name "Science/Magic Otaku" from the two. His shyness toward women may have come from the fact he wasn't able to get a girlfriend throughout his life in Alma Torran due to his continuous talk of theories. As years passed, it is harder for him to talk to girls he is not familiar with. Despite all this, Ugo is upbeat and ready to contribute in Solomon's cause.

VOICE:

Medium/Medium-Low/Low, I want someone that can capture his shyness and cowardice in tone, but also capable of bringing a genuine brightness and timid optimism to his voice.

Patrick Seitz was the original VA for him in the series, but I'd like to hear different vocal ranges for him to see who can capture the sensitive and supportive nature of Ugo.

PERSONALITY:

Ithnan is a serious person. He has a tendency to get to the point. He is rather calm, and prone to slight arrogance, always being confident in his power, as noted for always smiling even while being in the middle of an enemy territory.

He was shown to be insusceptible to flattery. He had a soft spot for Setta, viewing each other as brothers. He tends to criticize his fellow comrades, especially when things don't go their way.

VOICE:

Medium-Low/Low, try to capture the calm steadiness of Ithnan's voice, but to also be able to get passionate whenever he loses his temper over losses.

His original voice actor was Marc Diraison in the anime, but don't feel like you need to impersonate the original. Give me your own take.

Setta was a Magician from Alma Torran. He was a part of Solomon's resistance to overthrow the Orthodox Church and the wielder of one of the 72 Divine Staves.

PERSONALITY:

Setta was a kind person who often praised Ithnan, and the two were adopted brothers. Setta was a very proper and polite person. (Setta says "cool" quite a bit in his dialogue, and this is to allude to the ice magic he specializes in.)

VOICE:

Medium/Medium-Low, for Setta's voice, focus on clean diction and maintaining a calm and smooth flow. This voice is more up for interpretation, so I would be interested to see what people would do for him. I can honestly see a voice similar to J. Michael Tatum voicing this character, so take that into consideration.

Wahid was a Magician from Alma Torran. He was a part of Solomon's resistance to overthrow the Orthodox government and the wielder of one of the 72 Divine Staves.

PERSONALITY:

Wahid was a very happy man, as well as a very hungry man. He loved his family very much, and was heavily motivated to act for his loved ones.

VOICE:

Low, I'm looking for a rough and gruff voice for this character. He is boisterious and insatiable, so I want to hear the enthusiasm in his voice. Be lively!

Falan is a Magician from Alma Torran. She was a part of Solomon's resistance to overthrow the Orthodox Church and the wielder of one of the 72 Divine Staves.

PERSONALITY:

Falan has an air of vanity and openly comments on anything. Falan is quite proud of her figure, adding to her vanity. Her vanity though isn't everything to her, as she can be upbeat and energetic, and even showcases a motherly nature later in the arc.

VOICE:

High/Medium-High/Medium, for Falan I would like to hear a youthful voice. Valley-girl voices are encouraged since she has a habit of saying "like" in her sentences, adding a sense of airheadedness while not fully making her a ditz. Though, this is not required; just any youthful feminine voice that can capture her vain youth and eventual motherhood. Also, there will be a scene of deep remorse and anguish for this character, so I would like for the voice actress to be able to capture these intense feelings.

Tess was a Magician from Alma Torran and the only son of Falan and Wahid.

PERSONALITY:

Tess is very cheerful and lively, often seen with a smile on his face. He is incredibly fond of his parents, and is very concerned for their safety. Additionally, he is fond of annoying his father by saying that he wants to marry his mother.

VOICE:

High, looking for a little kid voice for Tess, something bubbly and lively.

David Jehoahaz Abraham was the leader of the Magicians from Alma Torran and the first Senator in the Orthodox Church's "Council of Elders". He was the father of Solomon. Due to his actions, he could be considered the main antagonist of Magi.

PERSONALITY:

After David was blessed with magic from Ill Illah, he displays an immense curiosity as he questions why he and the humans were given magic and what was a magician. He later realizes his role in life to surpass God. Throughout his life, he experimented and used magic to manipulate the lesser species on Alma Torran as he viewed them as stepping stones for him to surpass God. He managed to prolong his lifespan, and noted how other magicians laughed at him, calling him a coward because they could not understand his purpose.

Furthermore, David considers that everyone should act according to their given destiny: Gods should create, Magi´s should guide their kings, etc. Being a singularity, this destiny itself appears to be strongly related to his convictions and beliefs. David seems to have no emotional connection with anyone, neither his followers or family, going as far as to say that he doesn't care about anything but himself.

VOICE:

Low, I'm looking for a voice that is deep, can carry a wise tone while also remaining content and arrogant. Like you're very please with yourself in all that you choose to do, and just completely unflappable to anyone else's persuasion. Very self-assured.

Aladdin is one of the four Magi in the current era and a Magician. He is the son of King Solomon and Queen Sheba of Alma Torran, and is commonly referred to as Solomon's proxy. Aladdin was raised by Ugo in the Sacred Palace and sent to this world to fight Al-Thamen and to prevent a repeat of the tragic incident that destroyed Alma Torran.

PERSONALITY:

Within this arc, Aladdin is introduced at the end of it as an incubated child of Solomon and Sheba. His personality is a blank sheet initially after birth, but like his father, soon has a deep curiosity and hunger to learn as much of the world around him.

We are led to the pivotal moment that sparked the start of the series where Aladdin pleads to Ugo to allow him to see the outside world.

VOICE:

High/Medium-High, I want someone that is able to capture the more somber tones of Aladdin's character.

Erica Mendez was the original voice of Aladdin, so this can be a source of inspiration for the voice.

We will be needing a whole ensemble of people to make this comic dub possible! And this part is crucial!

We will need voices for the different Ars Goetian Djinns, the people of Alma Torran, and the opposing villains of the story.

Anyone that has good mic quality and impressive acting in the auditions may be redirected to the ensemble, as you may not have gotten the role you auditioned for, but your skill would still be appreciated for the project!

Whoever auditions here, you can audition for the lines you feel confident in. Example, if you are confident in your child voice and adult voice, but not elderly, then you don't have to do the elderly line. Do what you can.
