Welcome to the casting call for Love Live! SuperShorts!, an extremely short-form comedy fandub for Love Live! Superstar!
What is Love Live! Superstar?
Love Live! Superstar! is the latest in the Love Live franchise, a multimedia project from anime studio Sunrise, magazine Dengeki G, and record label Lantis which is based around "school idols": amateur idol singers and groups comprised of high school students. Superstar! follows a group of 5 first year high-schoolers attending Yuigaoka Girls' High School, a previously top-tier music school that was closed, bought out, and re-opened as a standard school. Its student body is split between Music Curriculum and Standard Curriculum to reflect this. Kanon Shibuya — a talented singer who fails her entry to the Music program due to crippling stage fright — gets a second chance at her passion by meeting Keke Tang, who begs her to start a school idol group at Yuigaoka together. The story of school idol group Liella begins here!
How is SuperShorts different?
I'm starting this project as a way to get myself back into creating content I truly want to work on after years of stagnation, to get (re-)acquainted with CCC in preparation for an original project I want to do later on, meet talented folk to collaborate with and have a lot of fun while paying tribute to a franchise I've been hugely into for a while now. I'd also like to use it as an opportunity to practice my skills with ADR that I've gained from my career experience, and will be shooting for a high quality standard. If you'd like a chance to practice using a script format similar to pro voice dubbing, this is a low-key project to try it! The SuperShorts will be uploaded to YouTube as short, fandubbed parody videos of the currently-airing LL Superstar series, with original scripts and English voices. As for music, I'll have to get creative...any helpers out there?
I currently have 3 scripts based on each official episode that is currently released (3 as of this writing), and hope to keep that up going forward, although it may vary depending on what I can think to riff off of. How short are we talking? The longest one I currently have written is 39 seconds, and I don't expect many to be much longer. As a challenge, I don't plan on altering the core personality of any of the characters and will instead focus on making the most of the personality that's already there. This may change as more episodes are released to use for content or if a particularly good joke can be made out of it, but that's my personal standard and I think it will be fun for LL fans to hear the characters they know in new contexts. I'll be using my knowledge of the franchise and fandom heavily for the scripts, so being a fan as well will probably help you get a better grasp! I'd like this to be collaborative, so if you have any ideas for shorts in future episodes as well, or think an existing script could be improved please let me know!
In regards to the scripts, dialogue will be matched to lip flaps as closely as possible. I'll be using my experience to create both a simple timecode-only version and a version formatted for professional ADR voiceover (with vocal cue codes). Upon casting, please specify which you'd like (or both) and let me know if you need definitions for the cue codes!

I use Discord almost exclusively these days for anything project related, so please make sure you're a user. Apologies if this causes any inconvenience. I will be happy to assist with any new users that aren't familiar with the platform.
Audition notes:
- Goes without saying I hope, but please have a solid mic and that you are recording in an area with no noise or low enough noise to suppress digitally. If you're self-conscious about that, let me know upon casting and we can discuss.
- While the characters identify as female and the audition listings are listed as for a female voice, I'm mostly looking for voices in the general range of the character and are evocative of their personality. As a result, don't let that hold you back from auditioning if you identify as something different.
- Each lead character's audition has 2 lines from the actual show and 1 line similar to what I've written for the shorts.
- The final scripts will be timecoded, i.e. the exact time that's listed is the exact time you should start recording your line to best match the lip flaps. For self-recording this is most easily done in a non-linear editing software like Adobe Premiere, but it can also be done using free software like VLC. I can also however fully accommodate live sessions over Discord, if you'd prefer to try that instead.
- This project is unpaid, not monetized, purely for fun and for experience.
