Lost/Thread Special Episode: Night Specials
Project Overview
Welcome to Lost/Thread! This audio drama dives into a world of mystery, suspense, and supernatural weirdness. The story follows a group of friends as they uncover strange logs that lead them into a realm where reality starts to unravel. Along the way, they’ll face some pretty unsettling truths about the world around them and even about themselves.
The special episode Night Specials is a standalone story set in the same eerie universe. It takes place during a late shift at a quiet roadside diner, where three coworkers stumble into some strange and unexplainable events. While it’s a self-contained episode, it’s got hints and threads that tie into the larger mystery of the main series, blending suspense, dark humor, and some genuinely creepy moments.

Age: Late 60s
Role: Mysterious Local Regular
Personality: Wise and cryptic, with a need for telling stories that run on to long and try to have deeper meaning. His metaphors about roads and memories often leave people feeling uneasy, though his intentions seem genuine.
Motivation: Mr. Cooper serves as a narrative device to foreshadow the strange occurrences in the episode. His cryptic advice to Priya ( Main character) is rooted in his own experience with the “roads.”
Voice Notes: Warm but weighty, with a slightly gravelly tone. His delivery should feel deliberate and layered, with an air of mystery.

“Roads remember who’s walked them, and sometimes… they take their toll.”
“You keep your eyes open, Priya. But don’t stare too long. Some things out there… they’ll stare back.”
" Coffe, the usual please"
Role: Enigmatic Customer
Personality: Quiet, reserved, and weary. His dishevelled appearance and cryptic remarks about the roads give the impression that he’s experienced something harrowing.
Motivation: The traveller is a victim of the strange roads everyone is always whispering about, lost and searching for something he can’t quite define. He serves as a warning about the dangers of the roads Priya is beginning to notice.
Voice Notes: Deep, scared and distant, with a tone that suggests exhaustion and unease. His voice carries the weight of someone lost in both a physical and emotional sense.

“Roads out here… they don’t feel right. They twist on you. Make you lose track of where you’re going.”
“You ever feel like… no matter how far you go, you’re not really getting anywhere?”
"Just a coffee..."
Age: Early 20s
Personality: Curious, imaginative, and slightly dramatic. Amy is the one who notices the little things that seem “off” and isn’t afraid to point them out, often in a joking way. She has a playful but slightly nervous energy as if she’s trying to mask her unease with humor.
Motivation: Amy is unsettled by the thick fog and the diner’s quiet, which heightens her imagination. She plays up her observations for fun but also to process her unease.
Voice Notes: Animated and expressive, with a tendency to exaggerate for effect. Her tone softens when she’s genuinely unsettled.

“This place is… something. You sure this isn’t where horror movies start?”
“It’s like the road just disappeared. You’d think we were driving through a cloud.”
“Come on, Beth. Doesn’t this place feel… I don’t know, weird? Like we just walked into the Twilight Zone?”
*Say something you think would fit*
Age: Early 20s
Personality: Grounded, practical, and a bit skeptical. Beth is the type to focus on the immediate and tangible, brushing off anything that seems overly imaginative or dramatic. She’s mildly sarcastic but not dismissive, offering a balance to Amy’s more whimsical nature
Motivation: Beth just wants to get through the drive and get something to eat, preferring not to overthink the eerie atmosphere around them.
Voice Notes: Calm, practical tone. Occasionally exasperated but not unfriendly.

“Finally. I was starting to think we’d never find a place open this late.”
“It’s fog. Pretty sure it’s just… weather. You’re not going to see Bigfoot out there.”
“It’s a diner, Amy. Quiet’s kind of the point. Maybe just enjoy it?”
