Project Overview
Welcome to the Shallows Institute.
Our prestigious organisation is dedicated to our mission of capturing, investigating and collecting artifacts and phenomena of the paranormal world. Our loyal employees devote themselves to protecting the public from harm, contracted under the watchful eye of The Collector, Professor Shallows.
Join us in following a rag-tag group of our paranormal investigators, all victims of these mysterious forces, and their escapades through the unknown. Who knows what they might find, and what horrors may tip them over the edge…

Based on the horror anthology podcast The Magnus Archives by Rusty Quill, from their own TTRPG book, The Shallows Institute is an ongoing DnD campaign run by endomentendo and features players chez-cinnamon , nobody-nexus , sm-baby , ner5y, and 0104_vikita. Currently, a VOD channel exists with all our full recordings available to watch, but as of rn a comic is being produced of the first episode. A comic dub of said comic is a current goal, but potentially a podcast-like video may be a future project to help bring our stories into a cohesive listening experience. Below are the cast and future characters that may need voices!

FAQ"Will there be more future characters?"
Yes, there will definitely be more characters! This is why I offered the Discord server earlier! The Discord server is not only where Shallows is held, but it's also where my friends and I can reach out to voice actors for this and other projects!
"What will recording sessions look like? Will we be directed over Discord or Zoom? Or will recording be asynchronous?"
Recording is all done at your home at your own time.
" What is the time commitment?"
Shallows is incredibly casual and something for fun. There are times when we're on full speed, and there will be times when we spend months doing nothing.
Furthermore, although we are not strict by any means, we do give our VAs Deadlines to hold them accountable. It's incredibly valid to forget about volunteer projects, so we're happy to remind you!
"Content warnings?"
If you know anything about The Magnus Archives, you know that it touches on the paranormal, the eerie, gritty, and the horrors! Most of the horrors are fictional, though, like werewolves, vampires, skinwalkers, wendigos, ghosts, and more!
We do NOT touch on anything involving bestiality, pedophilia, and overall taboo subjects!
There are, however, themes of human struggle back in the 2000s... Like ableism and misogyny. Nothing heavy, as we ourselves are disabled, just what you would expect at that time frame.
" Will my character be doing anything mature/ I'm uncomfortable with doing?"
Sexual: I assure you that this is not an NSFW role! Most of the characters are in relationships that are more sweet than anything sexual. There might be flirting and innuendos involved (because I'm human and I like making the characters kiss), but most everyone is pretty lax with that aspect of their characters.
Manipulation: There are some manipulative characters, but it's more of a villain role than anything too triggering! Don't worry! You will be warned!
Abuse: You will VERY MUCH be warned in the casting call if your character is physically abusive

For the first time in Rayan’s life, he felt stable. He had a place to call home, a family that wanted him to stay, and a steady job. Turns out, life is only as stable as your grip on the anchor. And when you’re so used to being adrift, it’s quite easy to let go. All you can do now is hope you’ll find what… or whoever you’re looking for out on these cold, dark waters.

( sighing ) " There we go… Listen, Lorelai. Are you sure you’re up for this? You’re clearly easily startled by small things, you don’t even believe in this stuff! It doesn’t make sense, you see? "
D-123, a lover of the paranormal, a smart, strategic woman most experienced with investigation; she loves loves loves her job! She was always a strange woman, no matter what stage in her life. But some people may not be very receptive to her breed of human.
D-123 once lived a good, purposeless life with an itch that could only be relieved through the darkest corners of the world. One day, humanity turned its back on her, and she lived struggling to trust it again, no matter how much she craved it. In her solitude, the institute became her haven, her sanctuary, further enveloping her in the paranormal.
VOICE NOTES: Older woman in her 50s, D-123 has a British accent, but has such chaotic energy! If we can find a VA that can also do a mischievous giggle, that would be perfect!
