Life is Crap: An Audio Drama
Project Overview
I HAVE OPENED THE CASTING FOR ONE MORE WEEK to hopefully find people for MIA DALLONSONS and AMELIA EDOLAH
REQUIREMENTS:
Be 15 years or older. Life is Crap is made for people 15+. It involves: Death of loved ones/Broken homes, Crude humor, and other topics that I do not believe very young audiences should watch. If you want an elaboration or a longer list, please ask.
You will need Discord for communication. Everything will be over a work-only server.
Be ready for a long-term project. This is a series and may very well last as long as we can take it. There is an end to it, but that is a very long while away. This is, essentially, one massive passion project. I don't expect to make any kind of monetization from this. If the project turns successful and my channel does becomes monetized, however, I do plan on paying everyone involved based on the success of the project after the monetization of the channel.
These jobs are all voluntary, so you can leave whenever! But I ask you to please give me a notice at least a week before you do, so I may have some time to find a replacement! Of course, emergencies are (obviously) an exception. I will have 1 backup for each voice actor.
Life is Crap will be an audio drama. I came up with it around 2020. There will be drama, romance, and comedy. Mostly comedy. The story features 6 characters: Mitchel, Jackson, David, Mia, Darren, and Lyssa (Not in order of importance) as they grow through their day-to-day lives. Different episodes will feature different characters. And different seasons will act as different "acts" through their growth.
You can try out for as many jobs as you want but be prepared to be given several roles if you do. Further explanation of the job will be elaborated on in the job description. You can place your Discord tag in your audition, or I can privately message you for it.
For VA roles, since I can't format in the lines, I'll use /slashes/ for italics. Asterisks indicate actions. I won't be using this format in the official scripts; this is just for the ease of writing the lines here.
Don't mind the Gacha Life stuff in the character pins. That's just for now. I'm kind of scrambling to not have this start during my scholarship submission season and I don't have access to proper digital art supplies at the moment. This originally was going to be a Gacha Life Series, but then I realized I didn't like editing and animating in Gacha Life as much as I used to. All of the official stuff will be original art.

Darren is a smart-ass. He stays quiet and normally only pipes up in public when Jackson says or does something stupid. Mitchel will teach him to not bottle his emotions through the series.

David is the average, smart, Christian, country-boy type. He wants to go through life happily and stay faithful to his current girlfriend and (hopefully) future wife, Lyssa Dallonson ("Soon to be Lyssa Dren" - David).

Cherry is one of Lyssa Dallonson's bullies. She wants to take David away from her, but it never goes her way. Both because Lyssa keeps him far away from Cherry and David is too tunnel-visioned on his future and Lyssa to notice Cherry's advances.

Amelia is Mitchel Edolah's mom. Her late husband was in the military, where he was tragically blown up by an enemy missile attack while deployed in Cairo.
It’s not a problem, Sweetie. Don’t rush yourself. Make sure you have everything before you go.
It happens every year. Poor kid gets so anxious. Like he's scared of missing school. Probably the first kid in the world that is.

Benjamin Orryk (40s)
Voice Pitch: Any
Voice Type: Bold, but calm. Rambles often about politics.
Personality: Smart, Confident, Caring, Thoughtful
Benjamin is Darren's dad and makes sure everyone knows it. He's so proud of his kid and loves him to death. He only wants to help his kid succeed in the world when he eventually passes. He and Mitchel's mom are dating, but haven't told their kids yet.
That’s good to hear! You know, Darren’s mom used to love staying out all night. And one night she just never came back.
Well, I’m not even sure how that lightbulb got in the basement. Last I checked, all of the bulbs were in the pantry. Darren? ... Nevermind, son. *grins*
If you read the bill, it’s about how the state will handle criminals that have been charged with trespassing! By the way, the state’s letting them all off the hook. Now, you can’t have someone get arrested for trespassing! There’s no such thing as loitering or trespassing in this state anymore! And why?
Of course, there will be extra characters that aren't important enough for individual roles and characters I have not come up with yet. The audition lines are merely ideas and I suggest you do an example of how far your range is for different voices. You may be asked to do multiple characters (though you don't have to).
[French Teacher]: Mr. Dren! Could you at least /pretend/ to pay attention? I know you're only here to fill a period, but at least /act/ like you care.
[Girl Student]: Oh my gosh, right? Like, I swear, I saw them at a Raising Cane's as a /date/. They are so weird, but, like, perfect for each other. It's so cute, but, like, in a lame way.
[Estranged Parent]: The phone works both ways, so you can stop acting like some gay, little victim. I know I abandoned you and let you and your brother be abused and everything, but I'm your dad so you should just forgive me already!
You can come up with ideas for filler episodes and you can help write scripts if you want. It's not, like, script-writing (unless that is something you are interested in helping with), just idea-pitching because I understand myself enough to know sometimes I get stuck. You can expect your work to be very minimal at the basics (which is all I want)!
