Library of Ruina: The Fandub (Round 4 - Urban Myth/Legend)

Project Overview

Hi there! Welcome to auditions for Library of Ruina, a fan dub project for the sequel to Lobotomy Corporation by Project Moon!

Warning: This game contains body horror, murder, and mentions of suicide and substance abuse! Though few things are explicitly shown on screen due to the game's rating, discretion is advised if these are sensitive topics!

Library of Ruina directly follows the events of Lobotomy Corporation. It follows a washed-up Fixer named Roland, who finds himself in the Library, a magical place led by the AI Angela. Angela recruits Roland as her servant to teach her about the outside world, as she is trapped in the Library and can only leave if she becomes human. To that end, she invites guests to do receptions for the Library - if they win in combat, they will get whatever books they please, but if they lose, they will be turned into books themselves. As the Library grows more notorious and more powerful people start visiting it, a plot is slowly unveiled that could change the entire City - and the Library is at the heart of it...

Submission Guidelines - Any submissions that do not meet these guidelines will be DISQUALIFIED!

  1. Submissions will only be accepted through Casting Call Club!

  2. Include your Discord in your audition description. Including it in your profile is not enough; you must specifically include it in the audition.

  3. Do not include a voice filter unless otherwise specified!

  4. This is an English dub; all characters will default to a North American accent unless otherwise specified! You won't necessarily be disqualified for other accents but do note it will very much hurt your chances if it's unfitting for the character.

  5. Absolutely no use of AI will be tolerated for submissions - by that extension, you have my word no AI tools will be used in this project!

In addition, I would prefer if you only record one take for each line, but I won't disqualify you on the spot for it! It would be appreciated if you could cut out any silence too, but that is not required.

That's all! Thank you for auditioning in advance; I look forward to hearing everyone's voices!

Hello, fellow librarians! That fateful day has come, and it's time to cast everyone... or, almost everyone. There are some roles that I didn't cast anybody for - not because any of the auditions submitted were bad or anything like that, they just weren't what I was looking for in the character! • Library of Ruina: The Fandub Round 4 - Casting Update

Hi, everyone! The deadline has come and gone, but I'm actually out for the day, so I'll more than likely get to proper casting decisions late tonight, ehehe. If you happen to submit stuff in that time I will take them into consideration! Just a note if you're wondering why people haven't been cast. X3

Role assigned to: Stormithy VO

Gyeong-mi is a high ranking member of Stray Dogs, a Syndicate under the Thumb. After Walter gets booked, Gyeong-mi beats up a bunch of Zwei Section 6 members in a rage at Walter failing to fulfill a deal they made, which forces him and his comrades to enter the Library for their safety. He's a very violent and brash individual, but has a few redeeming traits like believing in the importance of a promise and having enough charisma and care for his other Stray Dog friends.

For this role, I'm looking for a low voice who's gruff, powerful, and loud. You may do a Cockney accent for this role, but it's not required. Gyeong-mi is literally introduced beating the crap out of a bunch of people and he should really sound like the violent, foul-mouthed freak that he is - but also be capable of moments of kindness towards his allies.

  • [Musing over the aftermath of his beatings.] "... These sons of bitches... needed to understand what the weight of a promise is. Walter may have died in the Library, but... it's about sending a damn message!"

  • [Explaining about his accessories.] "They think I’m a glossy punk trying to look cool, figged out with random ornaments without a second thought. What they don’t know is that these ain’t just for fashion. They’re good for making arrogant idiots let their guard down, but before that, they’re workshop products with real, practical uses."

Mika is one of Molar Office's Fixers, and she also gets booked alongside her two compatriots during their investigation of the Library and subsequent attempt to escape the WARP Train. Much like Rain, Mika is on the quieter and more logical side, doing her best to keep her composure even in particularly serious circumstances. She's not quite as strict or cynical as Rain, though.

For this role, I'm looking for a medium-high voice able to stay even and on the quieter side. Still willing to be stern when necessary, but that's not at the forefront of her character or anything; emphasis on Mika is more towards her straight-laced traits. You may use some form of British/Cockney or Scottish accent for your audition, but it isn't required.

  • [Explaining why Olga is having a hangover.] "She threw a huge drinking party with her friends from the same corner of the Backstreets last night. They occupied the whole pub and got wasted all night, I heard."

  • [Worried about the WARP Train.] "Something seems to have gone wrong. It's been an hour since we departed, but the train still hasn't arrived at its stop... we can't just open the doors! The warnings said you'll get sucked out into space if we try."

  • [Explaining how patents in the City work.] "Every useful workshop technology is patented. The City strictly forbade making or selling products using technology patented by another workshop without purchasing the rights to it. If you can't pay the penalty by the third warning... the Claw will tear you down."

(Extra Role - Multiple people will be cast for this!)

Crewmembers of the Zwei Association, a group specializing in protecting and peacekeeping. None are shown in cutscenes, but they enter the Library as guests and have combat lines!

For this role I'm just looking for people who can do pretty typical combat lines; any and all voice types are welcome. Focused and professional, a little upbeat but not too cocky or anything, and caring for each other!

(Extra Role - Multiple people will be cast for this!)

These are passengers on the WARP Train mentioned in a few other roles. Initially just train passengers, they end up going insane from the long period of time that passes and end up mutilating each other. The WARP Train keeps its victims from dying, so they end up mutilated into fleshy monstrosities that are left reverently praising Tomerry and accompany them to the Library to get booked.

For this role, they'll have two "sides" to them similar to Tomerry, but without the line syncing bits. The specifics aren't too important - just that you can sound both terrified of a train that's said to get you anywhere in ten seconds yet leaves you in limbo for two thousand years, and then sound insane after said two thousand years. They also do get a few calm lines as two of the game's villains use their charisma to keep people in check - I've included those in the performance.

  • [Eerily calm over the state of things.] "Our carriage is only fine thanks to those two. It's not just us, everyone in the six adjacent carriages seems to be counting on them. They're so professional and collected... it's reassuring to have them around."

  • [Now insane, praising Tomerry.] "Tommy and Merry are the heroes of Love Town! Tommy! Merry! You're so cool!!!"

Pierre is the head of Pierre's Bistro, a restaurant in the Backstreets that makes its dishes out of actual people. She and her partner get an invitation to the Library, and Pierre is quick to capitalize on it, seeing a chance to get a new culinary masterpiece - and it ends with both of them getting booked in the process. Pierre is about as viciously sadistic as you'd expect, but has a genuinely sweet and loving relationship and a... "passion" for her work.

For this role, I'm looking for a medium-high voice able to convey Pierre's sadistic glee, yet able to be legitimately charming and polite towards her lover.

Voice description:

  • [Greeting Jack as he returns from some work.] "Welcome, Jack~! Dishes are one thing, but we're running way too short on ingredients these days. Luckily I have my reliable friend Jack here, so I won't have to worry about that for a while."

  • [Complaining about lacking ingredients.] "The Musicians of Bremen say they're no longer selling ingredients to us. Little Piggy's is the same deal, stopped trading with us... We'll have to do this the old way. You and I, together."

  • [Excited over the "ingredients" Jack brought over.] "Ah, let's turn them into jam. We're bottling them alive, so put 'em on drips of anesthetics and repressors and store 'em in the kneader. I knew you'd love it!"

Jack is Pierre's partner in crime at Pierre's Bistro, a restaurant in the Backstreets that makes its dishes out of actual people. Jack is a soft-spoken man with a genuine love for Pierre, and is about as sadistic as she is.

For this role, I'm looking for a low voice able to stay oddly polite for a sous-chef of a cannibal restaurant. Jack is generally less enthusiastic outwardly than Pierre, so the ability to keep your voice level yet invested is important.

Voice description:

  • [Greeting Pierre with some fresh ingredients.] "Hey there, Pierre~ Brought you some fresh ones this time. They got bruised a bit too hard, but they're still breathing. What, busy developing a new dish?"

  • [Sympathizing with their loss of ingredients.] "Those freaks were always unpredictable... what about Little Piggy's, then? No? I'd love to go personally, but we can't go to our usual spot anymore..."

  • [Musing on the Library.] "I don't think I like this scent... but I'll bear with it, if you say so. The director looks like a fresh, top-grade ingredient on the outside, but... she's unfortunately not human. Still, we never know until we try."

Lulu is a Fixer of the Streetlight Office. She avoids being booked during their first reception, only to come back in a rage with some allies to try to get Mars back. It doesn't work out, and she's booked with the rest of them. Lulu has a very fiery and angry personality, but despite this deeply cares for her friends and is prone to genuine emotion - essentially the first guest that shows the Librarians may not exactly be the good guys...

For this role, I'm looking for a medium-high voice with a generally fiery demeanor. This role will require a lot of emotion, as Lulu undergoes a tear-filled breakdown right before charging into the Library for revenge, so I've included lines to demonstrate that.

Voice description:

  • [Complaining about Mars eating the cake in the fridge.] "Hey! You ate the cake, didn't you! This son of a bitch ate the cake without even asking me! It was a limited edition cake, too!"

  • [Mourning the loss of Mars. Angry crying.] "You said your mother's an amazing Fixer... You loved to show off your stupidly huge sword, saying it's a gift from her... You bragged so much that you'd be just like your mother someday... Ugh!"

  • [Angrily dismissing Angela's attempt to welcome her to the Library.] "Shut up. I don't need a greeting from a despicable piece of junk. I'm here for Mars' book. I'll get his book, kill all the monsters here, and blow your head clean off."

Mars is a Fixer of the Streetlight Office. While he's a good combatant, he gets booked during the first reception of Streetlight Office, which leads to Lulu attempting to avenge him and just getting booked herself. Mars is a generally level-headed person who tends to hold in his feelings, and hides a lot of personal disappointment about how he couldn't reach the legendary Fixer status his mother had.

For this role, I'm looking for a medium voice able to stay cool even under pressure. Nothing super special here; just a calm, pretty normal guy who maybe sounds... not really enthusiastic about his position in life.

Voice description:

  • [Dismissing Lulu getting angry at him for eating her cake.] "Yeah, it was me. I ate the cake. The expiration date was yesterday, so I took care of it, that's all. Anyway, boss, how about that work?"

  • [Musing about their latest assignment being the Library.] "The library? We've heard some stories of it. We overheard Rats talking about it. But we might not get much payment from this request if it's off the record..."

  • [Talking about Angela after Angela greets them.] "Huh. She was a nicer person than I thought. And you're telling me she's not human? Didn't expect to see a machine that's so similar to a human being..."

San is the operator of Streetlight Office, successfully avoiding being booked in their first reception only to watch Lulu get booked herself after charging in to avenge Mars. San seems like a cool-headed person like Mars, but in reality he's actually quite cowardly and deeply sentimental deep down, and begs his coworkers at the Zwei Association to help get back his coworkers from the Library... and we all know how that ends.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice that can stay even but also convey the sorrow over losing his coworkers. A little more complex than Mars, but hits a lot of the same beats.

Voice description:

  • [Walking in on Mars and Lulu fighting.] "Guys, I have work for you... hm. Fighting again, are you... look, Lulu, I'll get you another cake, so calm down for a moment, alright?"

  • [Begging his Zwei allies for help.] "I beg you. My juniors... they're all dead. I'd like to request your assistance for support. I want to retrieve their books at least."

  • [Musing on why the Zwei association is working on the Library.] "I think I understand now. So the Distortion Phenomenon is a clear and apparent threat to your peacekeeping activities, and they expect the Library to hold a clue for resolving it. This is more than enough help. Thanks, Isadora."

Kalo

Role assigned to: danzolfo

Kalo is a Sottocapo of the Thumb, one of the City's most brutal crime organizations - and one with rather deranged views of "politeness". Initially shown in the opening cutscene to Urban Legend conversing with Katriel, he properly gets introduced on-screen during the Star of the City chapter, aiming to seize control of the district the Library is in - and getting booked in the process. Though he may seem stoic and respectful of hierarchy, he is as brutal and strict as his position would suggest.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice with a bit of gruffness to it, yet able to stay unfailingly polite. For some context: the Thumb's whole thing is that they adhere to politeness so much that if you do so much as question them, you will get punished; he's one of the higher positions in the Thumb and his voice should reflect that. Even in his brutal moments, he shouldn't come across as particularly angry; to him, his hierarchy is just how things go.

Voice description:
  • male adult
  • [Chatting with his subordinate.] "Tell me, who do you think will be the one to get through all this mist and claim the collapsed Nest in the end? The Middle, the Ring, and the Pinky seem to be too occupied with their own business to take part in this strife, so that's a relief."

  • [Noticing that one of his "families" has been consistently failing to attend meetings.] "Still recovering, I see... thanks for the report. Cut those friends off. We don't need a toothless mutt that can't rearm itself with that much time."

  • [Responding to an Index messenger warning him to not go to the Library.] "Tell the zealots of the Index remaining in L Corp's territory this: Once we've sorted out this matter, we shall pull out their teeth and tongues, and feed them to the hounds as punishment for insulting the Thumb. Although you won't be alive to relay that message with your own mouth."

Katriel is Kalo's second in command, roughly; she's a capo of the Thumb and specializes in intelligence gathering. Initially shown chatting in Urban Legend with Kalo, she returns as a supporting character when the Thumb decides to personally take on the Library, and heads with Kalo and some others to battle - and gets booked alongside them. She has a serious and stoic personality not dissimilar to her boss; less polite, but still professional.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice that can stay even tempered and professional. Nothing too special here; just keep it low and straightforward.

Voice description:
  • female adult
  • [Responding to Kalo asking her who they should be worried about.] "It's hard for me to predict the outcome of this event, underboss. It has been a while since we were involved in a bloodshed of this scale. However, it is certain that we should not allow the Index to take over the yolk."

  • [Explaining to Kalo about the missing "family" at their meeting.] "Ah... that cartel. They're still in the process of reorganizing structure after being attacked by the Black Silence a while ago. Understood; I'll cut them off immediately."

  • [Explaining the rules of the Thumb.] "The Thumb’s chain of command is simple: Obey the orders issued by your superior unconditionally, and do not question the intentions of your superior. Kill if you’re told to kill, and die if you’re told to die."

Julia is a member of the Zwei Association, the first guests to enter the Library during the Urban Legend chapter. She and San team up to investigate the Library, only for both of them to get booked. Julia is compassionate and kindhearted, generally able to keep her cool and strongly caring for her friends... even if that sense of kindness doesn't really help her out.

For this role, I'm looking for a high voice able to be friendly and kind. Nothing super special for her; she's a pretty straightforward character and is shown to be more empathetic than most, especially compared to her compatriots in the Zwei.

Voice description:
  • female young adult
  • [Showing sympathy for San.] "Isadora, please... Let's help him out just once. Could we at least request our superiors for a review of this case? I'm responsible for this case, and... the Association is responsible for it, too."

  • [Teasing Isadora after some good news.] "It's all thanks to the masterful data analysis by our lovely Isadora from Section 6 that this case could be handled so quickly, right? That's my girl!"

  • [Musing on the Distortion Phenomenon.] "A coworker told me a similar story. Said a resident in the area they were peacekeeping was suddenly distorted and transformed into a four-legged beast, even though there weren't any signs of danger or anomaly nearby."

Isadora is a member of the Zwei Association; she and Walter are the final guests of their Association to enter the Library during Urban Legend. She enters the Library with Walter to try to finish what her colleagues started, but gets booked alongside them despite her combat experience. Isadora is professional and strict, primarily adhering to protocol, but has a hidden softer side and can get flustered when her friends praise or tease her.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice that can stay cool and professional most of the time, but get a little uncomfortable when shown affection. While it's pretty easy to call her a tsundere, I wouldn't go for a super animated voice for her; she's generally shown to be very level-headed and her voice should reflect that!

Voice description:
  • female young adult
  • [Refusing to help San.] "Barging into our headquarters to beg like this is not the right way to do it. Come on, you know better than that... Sorry. I'm just frustrated. I don't want to see you in such a wretched state, either."

  • [Noticing that her association can act on the Library now.] "Well, would you look at that. Now this is the proper procedure I'm talking about. The Library was just elevated from an Urban Myth to an Urban Legend... b-but we still don't know our Association's stance on it yet, so don't get your hopes up, alright?"

  • [Getting sheepish over San thanking her.] "I-I said I'm just doing my job. It's not like I'm doing you a favor or anything... i-it's nothing, all I did was compile information following procedure and send it to the higher ups."

Walter is the Director of Zwei Association South, Section 6. After the Zwei's attempts to get information on the Library end in failure, Walter enters with Isadora and a few other Zwei Association members - a rarity, as he prefers to avoid field work himself - and of course gets booked alongside them. Though he seems professional and polite, he's willing to resort to underhanded means to get what he wants, and a colleague who knows him well implies he's a fraud whose only real talent is sucking up to his superiors.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice able to stay polite, much like Isadora herself but without the affectionate moments. I imagine he sounds dutiful and stoic enough, but also a little off in a way that makes him slightly uncomfortable to be around since it's not super hard to tell he's faking it. Patronizing is the word I'm looking for!

Voice description:
  • male adult
  • [Chiding Isadora for insisting on entering the Library.] "It's not like you to make such baseless claims, is it? Section 6 will not needlessly obsess over the Library. There is simply too much uncertainty for us to recklessly jump into the case."

  • [Going over issues in the City.] "Even as we speak, Syndicates like the Carnival are chewing up people's guts out in the open, and the likes of those Musicians are making modern art pieces out of innocent citizens. And our duty is to protect our clients from such shade in the City, is it not?"

  • [Greeting/goading Angela, the director of the Library.] "I've seen reports about you, but is it true that you are a machine, not a human? ... My, my. Staying quiet won't hide it, girl. A machine must behave as a machine."

Dino is a member of the Stray Dogs, who accompanies Gyeong-mi to the Library and gets booked alongside his comrades. He's much more level-headed than Gyeong-mi and prefers to solve problems more strategically, much to his annoyance when his "boss" tends to act rather rashly.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice with a sense of power and evenness to it. Dino and Zulu have pretty similar voices in my head, so if you can do a voice for one, you can probably audition for the other! I imagine Dino is a little more careful and thoughtful, though.

Voice description:

  • [Trying to call off Gyeong-mi.] "That's enough. Beating them to death won't do us any good. District 22 may be our turf, and these guys may be chumps, but we're talking about an Association here... We're gonna be in even bigger trouble if you kill 'em all."

  • [Resigned that it's too late for them.] "That's one more option for us. You've done it again... Flew into a blind rage and crushed their bones and guts to a pulp. I hope you have a backup plan for when that Association comes to 'thank' us for that lesson."

  • [Explaining about the power of tattoos.] "There’s tons of tattoo types depending on the quality of the ink and the material used, but generally speaking, you can have results like bursts of strength or skin as hard as steel. For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice with a sense of power and evenness to it. Dino and Zulu have pretty similar voices in my head, so if you can do a voice for one, you can probably audition for the other! I imagine Zulu is a little more audibly pessimistic and complainy, though.

  • [Mulling over their predicament.] "At least Walter was a sensible one. Maybe something happened to him. He might have been a cunning old fart, but he was still the director of Section 6. Besides, he'd usually leave field jobs to his men..."

  • [Explaining about his personal philosophy to keep his head down.] "So in my opinion, holding onto your place seems wiser than trying to climb up out of ambition or greed. Unless you’re at rock bottom, of course. Someone’s gotta be below us to serve as a punching bag, ain’t that right?"

Olga is the operator of Molar Office, a small office of three with no particular specialization. (And yes, to those who have played Limbus Company - this is the same Molar Office that would go on to become Molar Boatworks!) Olga plans on investigating the Library, but when they get stuck on a WARP Train due to a malfunction(?) the Office is forced to use their Library invitation to escape, and gets booked shortly after. Olga is a pretty impulsive and carefree person who mostly has a hangover for most of her screentime, but despite her recklessness she cares a lot for her fellow Fixers.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice that can convincingly sound like they've been dealing with a hangover, cause... well, Olga is dealing with that for most of her lines. You may use some form of British/Cockney or Scottish accent for your audition, but it isn't required. She's a pretty easygoing person at heart but is more competent than she lets on, and that should come through in your voice!

Voice description:

  • [Complaining about Rain.] "Oi Rain, my head's still ringing from the hangover, so keep the lecture for later, yeah? Maybe in an hour or so... say, who's the client for that request, anyway?"

  • [Talking herself up a bit.] "Huhuhu... You kids might be thinking I'm just an easygoing drunkard, but every action of mine is calculated, you see? That lass is an old mate of mine, I drank with her just yesterday! Said she's got an easy job for me. Says all I gotta do is give her a small cut of the rewards."

  • [Talking about her meeting with a friend.] "I was in a mighty good mood. I was taking swig after swig of booze. Rain would’ve scolded me for sure if I went back drunk as a broom, I felt that... But that happens all the time anyway, so I didn’t care much."

Rain is one of Molar Office's Fixers, usually calling Olga "big sis". He gets booked alongside the other Molar Office members in their attempt to escape the WARP Train. He's decidedly more professional than Olga, often behaving pretty sternly and trying to encourage Olga to be more responsible. Despite the problems Olga often causes for their Office, he works for her pretty faithfully.

For this role, I'm looking for a medium voice on the sharper side; someone able to stay even and disapproving, acting as a voice of reason to a person who is incredibly drunk/hungover more often than not. You may use some form of British/Cockney or Scottish accent for your audition, but it isn't required. Rain is pretty cynical and that should come across in your performance!

  • [Annoyed about Olga's casual nature.] "And you're absolutely sure this person is trustworthy? I swear down I'll curse you for the rest of my life if it turns out to be weird nonsense again."

  • [Still wary about the work they received.] "Imagine how dangerous and difficult this mission may be if R Corp, a Wing specializing in combat, requested us to resolve it for them. Big Sis happily accepted the job, though I still can’t help but be worried a little. Still... I hope it goes well."

This is a very minor role and as such I don't have many voice requests for it - I'm pretty flexible on the exact details and am not super concerned about matching the Korean VAs. You know those announcers at train stations that say when you can board the platform? It's literally just that.

  • [Announcing a train departing.] "The next train departing is WARP train UW-212. All passengers please check your pass and make sure you are in the correct carriage for travel."

READ THIS ROLE CAREFULLY BEFORE AUDITIONING.

Tommy is Merry's boyfriend, and one of the passengers on the "malfunctioning" WARP Train. While kind and somewhat timid at first, the ever-increasing amount of time passing in the train and the fact that all the passengers are immortal drives both Tommy and Merry to fanatical insanity, to the point where a "doctor" named Elena is able to convince them to fuse together into an abomination called Tomerry. Tomerry is sent to the Library and subsequently booked.

For this role, I'm looking for a medium-high voice, with some... stipulations. While pre-Tomerry Tommy is pretty straightforward - just kind of a jumpy, naive kid - the real show comes post-Tomerry and is why I'm going to scrutinize this role! Tomerry is an insane, childish hulking mass with pretty much no form of critical thinking, and the jump to that should be very clear in your performance. My plan for Tomerry is to play their lines on top of each other, so you will be working with the Merry VA to make sure your lines are in sync. If you know you're good at syncing lines, then please mention that in your audition and I will consider that as a point in your favor!

  • [Expressing worries to Merry about riding a WARP Train.] "This is our first time taking a WARP ride. Is everything going to be okay? I heard there were several accidents when they were first starting out..."

  • [Panicking over the amount of time the train has kept him here.] "Why are we worrying about W Corp? We're all going to starve to death trapped inside this train! I'm... I'm not even thirsty, though... How is that even possible? Just what is going on here...?!"

  • [TOMERRY.] "What's up, mommy? Things are the same as always! I just wonder if I should fold those blood lumps into squares or triangles this time? If daddy's not here... then why did you call me here, mommy?"

  • [Reassuring Tommy about WARP Trains.] "You're such a worrywart, darling. So many people use WARP every day. You can just stay by my side and keep your eyes closed if you're so worried silly."

  • [Panicking over the passengers killing each other.] "Tommy! Wake up! This is bad! They're killing each other, how are they still alive?! Tommy... Tommy...!"

  • [TOMERRY.] "What's up, mommy? Things are the same as always! I just wonder if I should fold those blood lumps into squares or triangles this time? If daddy's not here... then why did you call me here, mommy?"
