Let's Dub Lady of the Shard

Project Overview

What is a "Let's Dub"?:

A "Let's Dub" is a form of video that involves a combination of ad libbing, and character voice dubbing. If familiar with the term "Let's Play", one could say a "Let's Dub" is a combination of a let's play and a fan dub.

For anyone who wishes to re-audition.

  • Another Update

Thank you all for auditioning! We are extending the deadline, but we are moving our auditions to BTVA. Unfortunately, the overall audio quality in many auditions here was not up to standard. That said, If any of you would like to re-audition on BTVA with cleaned up audio, we'd be happy to reconsider your audition.

  • Casting Update

We are currently debating on whether to extend the audition deadline. Nobody has been picked yet. More updates as we know.

Nice Elder

Unpaid

One of two elders at the temple, she’s the much nicer of the two and cares about Acolyte like a mother would.

(The Nice Elder is basically that, nice and motherly. Her voice should be mid to mid-low and have that motherly feel to it)

  • The path we walk in service to the Goddess is a challenging one indeed. But we need not face these challenges alone!

  • Beg for mercy, ok? Definitely beg for mercy, ok? (She may have advice for everything else, but not for facing down a possibly angry goddess.)

Old God

Creator of the universe and everyone in it, but also the one who destroyed humanity’s home planet. The Old God returns to reveal the Radiant Goddess as a fraud and takes her place in the temple, now calling it “paradise”. She even takes the Radiant Goddess’ place in Acolyte’s affections, using her powers to deceive and manipulate her mind.

(The Old God is a complicated entity, she craves the affection that the Radiant Goddess gets and will do everything she can to get it. Her personality varies depending on who she’s talking to or the situation. Any range actually, I want to hear how you would interpret her.)

  • I was wondering how many people would have to die before you gave it up. (A cheery face, but mocking tone.)

  • Just think about how devoted you are to your goddess. Think about how much you love her. That’s it. Relax. Good. Look how obedient you are. (Her mind-control stems from her words, she’s invading every boundary Acolyte has. Make us uncomfortable.)

  • This time, I want you to take everything. I know that I’ll never have what I wanted. Let me have it through you. Please. (Accepting, she’s realized now that the humans will never love her as they do the Radiant Goddess.)

Acolyte

The main character of the comic, Acolyte is known only by her title. She’s a very earnest person and a bit ditzy at times, but she has a good heart. She’s very devoted to the Radiant Goddess and finds her dreams filled with visions of her. It is because of this devotion and love that the Goddess is reawakened.

(An incredibly understanding girl, she tries her best in everything she does and all she really wants to do is stay by the Radiant Goddess’ side. Voice should be mid to mid-high)

  • I mean, if I were just thinking, “wow the Goddess is so cool, I love her”, would that, like would that ring it? (Embarrassed. The Radiant Goddess just explained how a “great need” could awaken her from her slumber and that’s what Acolyte was thinking when she touched the bell.)

  • G-get out of my head! You don’t know anything about the Old God! She’s cool and strong!! I’m gonna tell her on you!!! (While under the Old God’s mind control, she hears Phoenix in her head trying to break the control.)

  • I think… You must have been lonely before you created us. And even after, being the only god in a world of humans has to be its own kind of lonely. (She’s speaking plainly with the Old God, giving her reasoning for why she would do all that she did.)

Radiant Goddess

The savior of humanity who has been asleep for 100 years. She finds herself coming to care a great deal about Acolyte in her days at the temple, but this leads to her downfall. The Old God returns and reveals the Radiant Goddess’ secret through Acolyte, that the Radiant Goddess is actually a human using part of the Old God’s divine power.

(She didn’t get the name “Radiant” for nothing. She emits this aura of power and maturity, but also one of kindness. Her voice should be calm and collected, until everything unravels and she’s stripped of her powers. Mid to mid-low)

  • Did you not cry out for my aid? What danger has beset my people?

  • Don’t torment me. You know exactly why I’ve shut her out. This is how everything started. (Sad, talking to the Titans and remembering how she first met the Old God.)

  • Acolyte... I’m not radiant anymore. (Stripped of her powers, but free from the Old God’s curse. She’s finally reunited with Acolyte.)

The Phoenix
open
Unpaid

Ruler of the Burning Star, she first arrives at the temple as a monster that is corrupted by the Old God. She carries the spirit of every previous ruler within her and marks Acolyte as the next Phoenix before succumbing to the Old God’s curse again.

(We don’t learn much about the Phoenix before she’s killed by the Old God’s curse, but we can tell she’s dedicated to her people. A commanding voice, mid-low.)

  • I didn’t even bother to send an offering for the festival this year. It was just some old-fashioned obligation to me. (Guilty, she doesn’t feel right having the people of the temple care for her when she couldn’t do one simple thing.)

  • Acolyte… It’s… fine… We’ll… Ah… (In pain, the curse is corrupting her body again and this time it can’t be fixed)

  • Enough. Listen. Hear my voice. Feel my touch. Remember me, successor. Awaken to my spirit. (Almost pleading, she’s trying to break the hold the Old God has on Acolyte.)

Grumpy Elder
open
Unpaid

One of two elders at the temple, she’s a very grumpy woman and is very impatient with Acolyte. Despite this, she does care a great deal for the wellbeing of everyone in the temple.

(Quick to anger, she seems to visibly older than the other Elder and her voice should match.)

  • Acolyte… Acolyte! For the last time, this is a sacred! Alter! (Furious, how dare this acolyte disrespect the savior of humanity in such a way.)

  • Listen… I know I always give you a hard time, but I never wanted it to end like this..! (Somber, she may have lost her temper with Acolyte a few times, but that doesn’t mean she should die at the hands of a god.)
