Link above is what has previously happened in the Punisher's story
After defending New York City alongside the Avengers during the events of the Great Illusion, Frank Castle realized that the world is changing and is a lot more complex than killing criminals on the streets. There are aliens and mutants and things much larger than he could ever dream of. Overwhelmed, he returned to the custody of the Raft Prison and is ready for his hearing. In return for his pardon, Castle has vowed never to return to vigilantism. He is open to the possibility of restarting his life now, maybe even at peace. However, can someone with that much red in their ledger ever live a normal life?

We are looking for an older, less angry version of Frank Castle. He has avenged his family's death and has been the Punisher for a long time. He feels small and powerless in the world of such powerful superhumans. He's had time to think and is right on the fence between who he was and who he may become in time. However, he can still be pushed to either side...

When I was given this chance, this pardon... it made me realize I don't have to be the Punisher anymore. I can choose a different path, and I want to find some semblance of peace. If that's even possible for someone like me.
