This is a project that started as a script for a potential fan comic set in the Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum plot but from the perspective of a new trainer who doesn't directly follow the events of the game.
The story follows Lance Sterling and his new Pokémon companion, a Piplup he names "Aqua Lord" or just "Aqua" for short. The story will cover Lance and Piplup meeting and loosely follow the events of the game, but more as a spectator to the exploits of the player character. There is also going to be a secondary plot involving a mysterious group working against Team Galactic in attempt to take over the region.
The story was written for my son and I wanted to make it even bigger, so I decided to give it a shot at making it more like an audio drama as he loves audiobooks.

I completely forgot to add a role for Extra characters! Though the Galactic and Alias Team roles would effectively count towards this, I decided to go ahead and add a general Extra role as well.

Someone to bring the characters and story to life visually! There are going to be quite a few original characters, but most of the setting and characters otherwise will be from the Diamond/Pearl/Platinum setting.

This is the main character of the series, a Pokemon training legend-to-be!
He is very book smart about the world around him but has yet to fully experience it... until the fateful day of being given his first Pokémon!
[wishful] “I wish I could go on adventures like that…"
[excited] “I don't have a name picked for him yet, but he is my very own Pokémon from the professor!”
[factual] “Piplup is small, but he’s fast. He’s probably more agile than Tank, so I should focus on movement and dodging.”
Lance's best friend and his "rival" for the story. They both like to work together but also like to compete to see who has progressed the most with training their Pokémon.
He received his companion Pokémon before Lance did and likes to occasionally point that out, but also is an encouragement to him along their journey.
[cocky] “Let me guess… You're going on a quest and need to enlist the services of an experienced Pokémon trainer to protect you on your way?”
[excited] "Can we see the lab?"
[encouraging] “This is your chance, Lance! Every great trainer’s journey starts somewhere!”
Lance’s dad and the owner of a small shop and café in the town they live in.
Aiden is a strong-willed and moral individual who values honesty, fairness, and hard work. He’s a dependable figure in Lance’s life, often imparting wisdom through stories and life lessons.
He is knowledgeable about training Pokémon and teaches Lance as much as he is able.

Lance's mother, Ruby, came from a different region, bringing unique perspectives and traditions into the household. She had her own adventures as a Pokémon Coordinator before settling down to raise Lance. Her past sometimes is a source of occasional surprises for Lance.
She encourages Lance to embrace creativity and empathy, teaching him that strength isn’t just about power but also understanding.

This is a unique Pokémon role for the series: a Shiny Kirlia, one of Aiden's Pokémon. As a psychic type Pokémon she is highly intelligent and has the ability to communicate with those around her telepathically. She is reserved but caring and does what she can to help the Sterling family in the day to day.

The canon antagonist group from the official games, they are bent on remaking the world. They will show up here and there, causing trouble wherever they go! This role will fill the space for both grunts and lead members. Specify which you are auditioning for.

Following the naming conventions of the series, a new tree-named professor! She travels throughout the regions, originating from elsewhere, her special field of study is ecology and how the pokemon and the environment respond to each other. Presently she is in Sinnoh and collaborating with Professor Rowan's team to collect data on the region.

A mysterious new group that has come up in the Sinnoh region. They are mafia-like in nature and are actively working against Team Galactic with the intention of taking over their assets.

The secretive leader of Team Alias. He turned to a life of crime after a falling out with those closest to him in the past. His goal is to ultimately take control of Sinnoh.

There will be MANY Pokemon needing vocalizations in this series. There will be some unique roles, but this will just be a placeholder for the majority of what won't fall under that category. I am also going to go with a slightly less traditional take on them in comparison to the anime and other audio versions and lean more toward vocalizations like that of the games where it would be closer to creature sounds.
The list of which type of Pokemon will appear will likely be modified, but otherwise, it will be in this description. Give a few takes of different vocalizations for the chosen Pokemon voice, but please make sure to keep them distinctly separate by noting which one you are doing.
