Legend of Zelda TV Show - Cartoon Redub
Project Overview
We are currently casting for voice actors!
This year on April Fools' Day, Zelda Universe (zeldauniverse.net) is looking to try something different in regards to Zelda dubs: we're gonna redub Episode 1 of the "The Legend of Zelda" televsion show from 1989! Yeah... we're crazy, but we also like the Zelda CD-i games, so what did you expect?
On April 1, 2019, we are looking to dub over and release the first episode of The Legend of Zelda (TV Series). Simply put, we are casting for the characters who appear in the first episode. This includes the one and only Hero of Hyrule, Link, and the princess, Zelda! Except we're also putting a twist on these characters; we'd like to play around with their characteristics and portray them a tad different from the original. Basically like an abridged series, so we want those who try out to have fun with these roles.
Basic guidelines:
+Have a decent/quality microphone to record with.
+Be polite on this casting call, whether its to the project manager or any one auditioning.
+Record all sides (lines) for each character in one single audio file; no separate audio files will be accepted.
+Feel free to do more than 1 take for each line; but pick your best takes to keep the length of it appropriate.
+ALWAYS ask questions if you're not sure about something! Either leave a comment or DM me personally. (the page owner)
+Have fun! (This is an April Fools' Day video after all; we're making this as goofy as possible)
Casting will be complete once the casting call ends, and we will be reaching out to actors as soon as possible. We want to give them enough time to record during all of February and March, so casting will be immediate.
Deadline for the project is February 2, 2019. Any other inquiries should be forwarded to me. (Alex, the casting call creator)

Link is the "hero" of Hyrule. Link is in charge of protecting the Triforce of Wisdom from falling into Ganon's hands. However, he dislikes his new lifestyle, claiming that it is boring and would rather be off fighting monsters and roaming the world. The only positive thing, he says, is that he gets to be in company of Princess Zelda, who usually dislikes Link's overall personality.
Needless to say, he's a bit egotistical, apathetic and has a tendency to harass Zelda for a kiss. He's not your typical hero, but he does mean well when it comes to saving Hyrule.
Seriously, his goal to get a kiss from Zelda for saving the day. But it always goes wrong, just when it looks like he's gonna get his way. We want to have him portrayed the same way as the original, but when he acts up, Zelda does no take it. Want to maximize their traits to where he makes a rude comment, Zelda goes at him hard. So have Link be crazy obnoxious.
Voice range: Medium
HEY! Excuuuuuuuuse me, Princess!
Oh boy, another morning in Hyrule... it sure is boring around here... wait, where are my pants?!
(Mocking) Heyyyy, Zelda! Looking good from all the way up here!
Princess Zelda is portrayed as a proud, athletic and stubborn princess with a fiery temper, although she does have her sense of humor and a romantic, sensitive side. In addition to running the kingdom part-time for her father, she often accompanies Link on his adventures and proves to be an invaluable addition in combat, departing from the traditional role of a princess. When Link asks her to stay so that he can defeat the monsters himself, the princess refuses to just sit down and watch and instead chooses to join him in battling the foes.
In this redub, we want to maximize her public dislike of Link's flirty attitude and her darken her humor at times. We'd like for her to react strongly to when Link tries to go in for the kiss or make an inappropriate comment to her. Take no prisoners!
Voice range: Medium to High
A kiss? Gross! How about instead I tie you up and cover your mouth with duct tape? Wait... you might like that... NEVERMIND.
Sorry, Link, I couldn't hear you! What did you say? You want to spend the night alone in the dungeon? Well, if you insist!
No, Link, you have to stay here in the North Tower to protect the Triforce of Wisdom! Besides, you aren't wearing pants; can't have you walking around without those. What would the townsfolk think?
Spryte is portrayed as an eccentric, blunt, smart-mouthed fairy who is not afraid to voice her opinions. Working as an assistant to Princess Zelda, she often helps out with the chores around the castle. Spryte also has an obvious crush on Link, so we want to MAXIMIZE this in the redub. She wants Link, and will sometimes be seen flirting with him and telling him to forget about Zelda so that the young hero will stick with her instead. However, Spryte's attempts are in vain, as Link usually disregards her comments and only thinks of her as a friend. As such, her jealousy causes for her to use her magic to disrupt Link and Zelda whenever the young hero is close to kissing the princess.
Voice range: High
You don't need the princess, Link! You have me, after all! Now let's get married, I mean, what?
Oops! Did I do that? *giggle* (In thought, to Zelda) He's mine, honey.
(To Ganon, defending the Triforce of Wisdom) Stop! With the power of these low animated graphics and my pixie dust, you are history, creature!
Ganon is the main antagonist of the show, as expected. In the original, he's got a very... loud and obnoxious personality with a high pitched voice. If you can do that, great! If not, feel free to go lower in tone/pitch and make him sound more deadly/serious. This can go either way, so leaving this to your interpretation!
While still a menacing threat, we still want him to come off as ridiculous and goofy where it's hard to take him seriously.
Voice range: High, Medium or Low
Dummies, dummies, dummies! You never do anything right!
My name? Oh uh... I am... Nonag!
Once I obtain the Triforce of Wisdom, then I will rule ALL of Hyrule! And Link... will NEVER be able to wear pants again!
The moblins are loyal to their master, Ganon, and they are always willing to follow his every command. As such, Ganon mostly resorts to using these foes to carry out his plans to steal the Triforce. Unfortunately, his schemes are always ruined by the ineptitude of the Moblins, as he is always berating and punishing them for their failure.
Voice range: Medium to Low
Ha hah! Now that you aren't wearing pants, defeating you should be easy!
We're sorry Master Ganon... but we didn't know he'd be able to beat us without wearing pants!
Wraaahh! Hold still so we can kill you!
The Triforce of Power has a disembodied voice speaking through it; a medium/low, male voice. In this redub, we want the Triforce of Power to speak with a hip, and modern tongue. Speaks a lot of slang and is very hard to understand.
Voice range: Medium to Low
YOOOO what up Homie G; what's new in the life of his maliciousness in this shindig?
To steal the Triforce of Wisdom, you're gonna have to put the hurt on the corn if you know what I'm laying down!
The Triforce of Wisdom also has a disembodied voice; an adult female, medium toned voice.
In this redub, this one speaks with a lot of clarity and is easy to understand. However, she always speaks in good moral rhymes. She also has a security system where she initiates a chant from Dora the Explorer: "Swiper, no swiping! Swiper, no swiping!"
Evil is the path you choose, but evil doers always loose!
Initiating security system alarm: Swiper... no swiping. Swiper... no swiping.
The Ache are bat enemies; they are resilient in combat and are sometimes shown to have magical abilities and even the ability to talk.
For this redub's iteration, we want to retain the Ache's high pitched, raspy voice from the original. In addition, we wanna pad in the creepy voice trope; make him sound like a creepy little creature, also blood thirsty.
Voice range: Medium to High
The Triforce of Wisdom... it is guarded by Link!
Can I suck his blood? Please? Aw...
